Development: The aim was to determine the distribution of depression levels among high, mild, and none levels according to the gender of adolescents attending school in three municipalities of Antioquia. In each population, a random sample was obtained, designed with a 95 % confidence level for the presence of depression in students aged 11 to 19 years, with an-error ranging between 3 and 5 %. The research group measured the presence of depression with the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI). Municipal authorities provided the permission and the consent of parents, teachers, and students. The group analyzed simple correspondence using the statistical software SPSS and RStudio. Results: At the highest level of depression are mainly women from Marinilla and Carmen de Viboral; at the mild level are women from the two areas in Medellín; at the no depression level are men from Carmen de Viboral and the two areas in Medellín. Conclusions: depression is a public health problem, and when it occurs, it is more likely in women than in men; in some municipalities, there is no difference between men and women, and the whole population should be intervened to remedy the situation.","PeriodicalId":92980,"journal":{"name":"Advances in social sciences research journal","volume":"113 S143","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140257043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the uptake of this technology among dentists has been slow. This paper aims to explore the behaviour intention of dentists in using IR 5.0 technology in their dental services, by examining the factors that influence their decision making. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 5 dentists working in the private dental clinics in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The findings suggest that the dentists' intention to adopt the technology is driven by internal factors such as performance expectancy, financial, effort expectancy, sentiments; and external factors such as facilitating conditions and social influence. The results highlight the need to address the barriers and concerns associated with adopting new technologies in the dental industry.","PeriodicalId":92980,"journal":{"name":"Advances in social sciences research journal","volume":"24 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140262478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite their crucial role, SMEs in Malaysia have not received sufficient attention in terms of intellectual capital research. This study aims to address this gap in the current literature by examining the intellectual capital of Bumiputra SMEs in a developing country. The primary objective of this study is to assess the impact of intellectual capital components on the performance of Bumiputra SMEs. The data gathering process will involve qualitative techniques, specifically NVivo-facilitated interview sessions. The insights derived from these sessions will provide SME firm owners with a comprehensive understanding of how intellectual capital influences company performance, empowering them to make informed decisions. This study relies on two firm owners as the main sources of information during the interview sessions. The findings reveal that various elements of intellectual capital, such as human capital, structural capital, customer capital, social capital, technological capital, and spiritual capital, significantly influence the commercial performance of Bumiputra SME entrepreneurs. The study's conclusions have a notable and positive impact on the theoretical and practical aspects of Bumiputra SME businesses by expanding the understanding of how intellectual capital serves as a strategic asset for SMEs and by incorporating resource-based, knowledge-based, and social capital frameworks. The decision of employing only a small number of participants was determined by limitations on time, money, and accessibility. Nevertheless, only a small number of representations can yield significant results, particularly in qualitative studies where data accuracy and breadth are crucial.","PeriodicalId":92980,"journal":{"name":"Advances in social sciences research journal","volume":"4 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140261056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are a variety of products in the Malaysian market that have been created by incorporating innovation into traditional Malaysian foods. As such, this situation has led to intense competition and oversupply of products in the market, and it requires food companies to develop critical strategies for introducing innovations in traditional foods so as to be sustainable and more competitive. The aim of this paper is two-fold: firstly, to provide an overview of innovation development in the Malaysian traditional food industry. This paper reveals that, studies on innovation in Malaysian traditional food industry remains under-researched and scarce until to date.  The present study also reveals that a clear understanding of consumer perceptions, needs, and preferences, as well as a product's quality attributes, is critical when making even minor changes to traditional foods, thus leading to successful introduction of innovation in traditional foods. Besides that, sustaining consumer continuance behaviour beyond initial purchase and consumption is crucial for innovative food product success and sustained market.","PeriodicalId":92980,"journal":{"name":"Advances in social sciences research journal","volume":"89 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140261235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rooted in the critical intersection of Social Exchange Theory and Servant Leadership theory, the study aims to discern the relationships among these factors and their collective impact in the Malaysian IT sector. Recognizing the scarcity of studies addressing race-based microaggressions in this context, particular emphasis is placed on microaggressions as a dimension of workplace dynamics. Social Exchange Theory provides a lens for understanding the reciprocal interactions among individuals, while Servant Leadership theory underscores the importance of leaders serving their followers' needs and well-being. The research is guided by a comprehensive set of objectives, including the examination of relationships between leadership styles, workplace bullying, and microaggression on employee resilience. The scope of the study extends to cyber security companies in the Klang Valley region, capturing the essence of IT industry dynamics in Malaysia. By exploring these intricate relationships, this research endeavors to contribute valuable insights for organizations grappling with these challenges, offering a strategic understanding that may mitigate hiring costs, training expenditures, and overall operational expenses in the IT industry. Expected outcomes include valuable insights for organizations, contributing to a strategic understanding that mitigates operational expenses in the IT industry.","PeriodicalId":92980,"journal":{"name":"Advances in social sciences research journal","volume":"26 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140262564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Corporate employees, in particular, conduct their work online, often multitasking with leisure activities on Social Networking Sites (SNS). This research delves into the experiences of corporate employees in relation to SNS use and explores the consequences of excessive social media engagement during work hours. The study, based on data collected from 130 respondents across various organizations, reveals that SNS usage significantly surpasses knowledge sharing as the primary factor influencing both SNS use and work productivity. Through correlation analysis using SPSS Version 27, this research offers valuable insights into the intricate dynamics between SNS use, work engagement, and productivity. The findings are poised to make a substantial impact on organizational strategies, providing essential knowledge for SNS strategists and policymakers to harness the potential benefits of social media usage in the workplace.","PeriodicalId":92980,"journal":{"name":"Advances in social sciences research journal","volume":"27 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140262843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since income level is not a reliable indication of poverty because it does not consider someone to be living in poverty if their income is below the poverty line. Based on previous literature, the researcher recognises the deficiency. Due to a lack of data and studies from earlier studies and literature reviews in Malaysia, it is still unclear how inflation, unemployment, and economic growth are affected by poverty. Therefore, this paper provides the conceptual review on how the macroeconomic factors affect the poverty incidence in Malaysia. However, the study examines the association between poverty which inflation, unemployment and economic growth using multiple regression estimators. Results show that inflation, unemployment and economic growth has a positive significant relationship with poverty incidence in Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":92980,"journal":{"name":"Advances in social sciences research journal","volume":"14 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140263238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
