These action potentials travels through all the 4 chambers of heart. The above two chambers are called auricles and below two chambers are referred as ventricles. These signals create a gentle rhythm. If the rhythm of the heart changes then that condition is referred as arrhythmias, or abnormal heartbeats. The electrical problem slows down the time in between heartbeats.","PeriodicalId":92765,"journal":{"name":"Clinics in mother and child health","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69967764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to evade nurses’ global shortage, the total number of nursing graduates needs to be increased by 8% per year on average. However, data showed that graduates are often unprepared to work in the complex field of clinical practice, where increased patient acuity and shorter hospital stays, combined with a lack of deep learning in our academic nursing programs, have exacerbated the competency crisis. Furthermore, nursing graduates face challenges that impede nursing students' clinical practice readiness, such as a lack of clinical learning materials, a shortage of well-qualified and skilled nursing faculty in terms of both quality and quantity, and inadequately equipped nursing skill laboratories. Besides, lack of experience, poor nurse-physician interactions, inadequate communication, leadership, and management skills are all common stressors for new graduates. However, this problem is underappreciated and skewed demand and supply of nursing manpower necessitated it more than before; thus it has to be addressed at both national and international platforms, to rectify the problem for quality of care and patient safety.","PeriodicalId":92765,"journal":{"name":"Clinics in mother and child health","volume":"18 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69966820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Risk-Reducing Salpingo-Oophorectomy (RRSO) is the primary evidence-based treatment to decrease that risk. The National Comprehensive Care Network (NCCN) and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) endorse a set of surgical guidelines to be completed at the time of RRSO. In the study “Provider Adherence to Surgical Guidelines for Risk Reducing Salpingo-oophorectomy”, we found that only two-thirds of all surgical providers were fully adherent to these guidelines. Gynecologic oncologists were more likely to follow surgical guidelines compared to general Obstetrician Gynecologists, and more likely to diagnose occult neoplasia despite similar patient populations. Here we discuss the reason for the surgical protocol, the clinical implications of noncompliance, and practical ways that providers can ensure full adherence to the protocol.","PeriodicalId":92765,"journal":{"name":"Clinics in mother and child health","volume":"18 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69967019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Keeping future perspective in view, the potential of emerging tools need to be explored to gain a deeper insight in understanding the regenerative potential of germ cells, gonadal function and for developing clinical options for fertility preservation [5−7]. During germline development Primordial Germ Cells (PGCs) undergo sex specific differentiation and give rise to male and female germ cells during sex specific gonadal development [2]. PGC specification occurs during epiblast stage in humans, and is regulated by a tripartite network of transcription factors Prdm1, Prdm14 and Tfap2c.","PeriodicalId":92765,"journal":{"name":"Clinics in mother and child health","volume":"18 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69966435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It’s presented with triad of anaemia, bone marrow (BM) failure, and thrombosis. There are often noted variations within the PNH symptoms in several individuals. Sometimes, PNH are often quite asymptomatic and thus it's important to rule out the presence of this disorder in uncertain cases of hemolytic, thrombosis or cytopenia. PNH primarily affects adults including women of reproductive age. Although the disease includes chronic symptoms, spontaneous remissions are known to happen in certain cases also.","PeriodicalId":92765,"journal":{"name":"Clinics in mother and child health","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69967405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design classification: Prospective study. Setting: Alsaedy Maternity Hospital, Makka, Saudi Arabia. Patients and interventions: In this double-blind clinical trial, we enlisted patients with endometriosis assessed for dysmenorrhea and pelvic discomfort by VAS test at 8 weeks after treatment by laparoscopy. All patients were vitamin-D deficient (<12 ng/ml). They were arbitrarily received vitamin-D (50 000 IU weekly for 6 months) or placebo. Intensity of pain in the 2 groups was reassessed at 6 months after surgery. Results: There were 25 patients in the vitamin-D group and 25 in the placebo group. Standard features in both groups were analogous. Subsequent to the administration of vitamin-D or placebo, we did not find significant differences in severity of pelvic pain score (p=0.09) and dysmenorrhea score (p=0.366) between the 2 groups. Mean pelvic pain score at 6 months after laparoscopy in the vitamin-D group was 2.96 ± 2 and in placebo group it was 3.3 ± 2 (p=0.55). Mean dysmenorrhea score was 2.44 ± 1.5 in the vitamin-D group and 2.5 ± 1.3 in the placebo group (p=0.88). Conclusion: After ablative surgery for endometriosis, vitamin-D treatment did not have a noteworthy outcome in decreasing dysmenorrhea and/or pelvic pain.","PeriodicalId":92765,"journal":{"name":"Clinics in mother and child health","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69967463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was to introduce such a specialized prenatal consultation service and assess its impact on outcomes of CHD fetuses. Methods: We initiated specialized prenatal consultation in a referral tertiary cardiac center in southern China in 2013. A multidisciplinary team serves as consultants in this service and is especially responsible by two pediatric cardiologists in regular outpatient clinics. We included CHD fetuses diagnosed from 2011 to 2015 consecutively. They were divided into before (2011-2013) and after (2014-2015) specialized prenatal consultation groups and their perinatal outcomes, delivery location and early postnatal survival were compared. Risk factors for termination were also assessed. Results: Totally, 1032 CHD fetuses were included and 533 accepted specialized prenatal consultation. After initiation of specialized prenatal consultation, the live birth rate significantly improved (OR=1.59, 95% CI: 1.10-2.29) and termination rate significantly reduced (OR=0.63, 95% CI: 0.44-0.91) in single CHD fetuses. No significant change in delivery location and postnatal survival of CHD fetuses were observed after specialized prenatal consultation. Referrals from district hospitals, along with multiple-lesion CHD, critical CHDs, gestational age<28 weeks at prenatal diagnosis were risk factors for termination. Conclusion: Specialized prenatal consultation can improve the perinatal outcomes in single CHD fetuses. Education for district hospitals of standardizing counseling, especially for minor CHD fetuses and timely transferring of mothers with critical CHDs/multiple CHDs fetus is crucial to improve the outcomes of CHD fetuses further.","PeriodicalId":92765,"journal":{"name":"Clinics in mother and child health","volume":"17 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69966547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
