Since suicide is a repetitive act, it is important to identify the abundance and types of common violence and the factors leading to it. Therefore, this study examined the season and the most commonly used drug among suicide cases referred to Sina Hospital. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on all patients who were admitted to Sina Hospital in Tabriz by suicide detection in 1395. At the beginning of the study, a checklist was designed to collect information from the patients ‘files from the patients’ files. The patients were asked about the age, occupation, educational level, type of drug, visitation period, previous intervention and history of psychiatric illnesses. The outcome of the study was also evaluated in this study. Finally, all information was analyzed using SPSS software version 18 and statistical methods. Results: This study was conducted in one from March 2016 to March 2017, and on the data of 1176 suicides. The mean age of the patients was 30.98 ± 13.03 years and 58.9% were female. 52% were single, 4.8% had a positive history of neurological diseases and 11.4% had previous suicidal experiences, 36.66% had only one occurrence of suicidal attempts. The winter with 33.1% of the most commonly visited seasons and benzodiazepines with 34.9% were the most commonly used drug among patients. Finally, 6.5% of the patients died in the hospital. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that benzodiazepine was the most commonly used drug for suicidal patients, and winter showed the highest suicide rate.","PeriodicalId":92322,"journal":{"name":"Advances in bioscience and clinical medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42327908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They constitute about 1% of intracranial tumors and 3-4% of all primary bone tumors. The principal spinal location is usually the sacrococcygeal and infrequently the sphenooccipital and cervical areas. Case Presentation: We present a 74-year-old man with a huge sacrococcygeal mass extending to both buttocks. Computerized tomography (CT-scan) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as well as computerized tomographic angiography (CTA) evaluations were suggestive to chordoma. Immunohistochemical analysis confirmed the diagnosis after the patient was successfully operated on. All aggravating symptoms resolved after the operation. Conclusion: The management of giant sacrococcygeal chordomas can be very challenging but with all-inclusive treatment, complete cure is achievable although recurrence can occur. In our case, surgery alone was curative. Preoperative CTA aided us in achieving total tumor resection.","PeriodicalId":92322,"journal":{"name":"Advances in bioscience and clinical medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42703578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although several authors have presented single cases or case series on this occurrence, only few authors have indicated that hyperthyroidism heralded the pathogenesis of TSH-sPA. We also present a case of refractory transposing hyperthyroid disorder inducing TSH-sPA. Case Presentation: We present a 47-year-old woman with 20 years’ history hyperthyroidism and a visible anterior neck swelling with normal TSH. She was put on anti-thyroid medications that transposed her hyperthyroid state to hypothyroid state with elevated TSH and a pituitary adenoma (PA). The PA was surgically excised via transsphenoidal approach. Conclusion: Hyperthyroidism or anti-thyroid medications could be responsible for the trigger of a feedback mechanism that led to over-secretion of TSH and subsequently the development of PA.","PeriodicalId":92322,"journal":{"name":"Advances in bioscience and clinical medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46607520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to evaluate the CT scan results role of patients with abdominal pain in diagnosis and future decisions on patient and comparison with patient’s history and physical examination. Methods: In this descriptive analytical study, 215 patients admitted to the emergency room at Imam Reza Teaching Hospital with non-traumatic abdominal pain were studied over the years regarding the comparison of CT findings with the history, physical examination, plain radiography and ultrasound. Demographic characteristics, patient history, symptoms at the first visit, clinical findings, laboratory tests, imaging findings, diagnosis and treatment of all patients were collected. Results: CT scan to confirm the diagnosis or screening patients with abdominal pain has been helpful. The results of 215 CT scan 28.40% was normal, most frequently diagnosis in CT scans was related to pancreatitis 24% and least diagnostic of CT scans related to ileus. Of 215 patients, plain abdominal radiography was requested in 78 patients (36.3%) that the air-fluid level was reported in 18 cases (23.7%). Of 215 patients, abdominal ultrasonography was performed in 117 patients (54.4%) that the most recognizable diagnosis was cholelitiasis in 22 cases (18.8%) an abdominal ultrasound result was normal in 98 cases (83.7%). Finally of the 215 patients, 116 patients (77.2%) admitted and 49 patients (22.7%) were discharged. Of 166 patients, 51 patients (30.72%) were transferred directly from the emergency department to the operating room. Conclusion: CT scan play a decisive role in the decision to hospitalize patients and request in right place expedite the handling patients. Our study suggests the balance between the amount of requested CT in patients with non-traumatic abdominal pain and hospitalization rate.","PeriodicalId":92322,"journal":{"name":"Advances in bioscience and clinical medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47370625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Only a limited number of studies have evaluated this matter. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to evaluate the success rate of the IANB technique administrated by dental students in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in order to promote the dental educational programs. Materials and Methods: The subjects in the present consisted of patients referring to the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Tabriz Faculty of Dentistry, who required surgery in the lower jaw. The dental students evaluated in the present study consisted of the third-, fourth- and fifth-year students who were selected randomly. A total of 30 patients underwent a local anesthetic technique by the third-, fourth- and fifth-year dental students each. Anesthetic agent cartridges containing 1.8 mL of 2% lidocaine with adrenalin were used for the local anesthetic technique. The success of the anesthetic technique was analyzed 2 and 5 minutes after injection with the use of an electric pulp tester (EPT). In addition, the severity of pain was tested with the use of VAS. Results: there was no significant difference in the success rate of the IANB technique between male and female students. Comparison of the success rate of the IANB technique between the third-, fourth- and fifth-year dental students showed no significant differences in response to EPT, perception of pain and feeling of the dental explorer between the three groups of students. However, the frequency of the success rate of the IANB technique showed that the success rates were 86.3%, 93.3% and 83.3% for the third-, fourth- and fifth-year dental students, respectively. Discussion: the success of this technique has been reported to be low in references for some reasons. In this context, unfortunately the most important fact that is not taken into account in the evaluation of the reasons for the failure of the IANB technique is the teaching and learning of the correct technique in universities and during university studies and only a limited number of studies have evaluated it. Conclusion: Previous studies have reported a 70% success rate for the IANB technique administrated by dental students; however, the results of the present study showed a success rates >70 for this technique administered by the third-, fourth- and fifth-year dental students in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. The discrepancy between the results might indicate the important role of proper education in decreasing the failure rate of this technique.","PeriodicalId":92322,"journal":{"name":"Advances in bioscience and clinical medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42417768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Functionally, RSV has the propensity to safeguard DNA as well as the induction of DNA repair. RSV is precipitously metabolized in the liver via phase-II detoxification enzymes leading to its principal urine excretion. RSV steered growth inhibition, induction of apoptosis and G0/G1-phase cell cycle arrest in an experiment involving glioma cells. RVS can block the triggering of signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT3) signaling of glioma cells. RSV subdues STAT3 signaling via the inhibition of SRC or Janus kinase (JAK2) induction, thereby inducing growth inhibitory and apoptotic properties. RSV explicitly blocks both COX-1 and COX-2 in-vitro. In the cancer inflammatory milieu, the blockade effects of RSV on NF-κB could also lead to the blockade of TNF-α resulting in inhibition of cancer advancement as well as metastasis. Individually, RSV has proven to very potent in glioma cells. It is able to down-regulate glioma angiogenesis as well as metastasis. In combination with other agents, RVS augment its potency in glioma. RVS is able to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) via gap junctions making it very efficient central nervous system medication. RVS after oral administration peaks in the blood stream after one hour meaning it acts very fast. This review focuses on the neuropharmacological role of RVS in glioma.","PeriodicalId":92322,"journal":{"name":"Advances in bioscience and clinical medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47213496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
