It will cost a lot of money and time because organizations need to hire new employees and train them to fill field open positions. There are many different reasons why they choose to leave the organization. So, organizations need to find out the most important reasons to treat and improve it. There are four categories of factors that affect employee turnover: demographic, work, financial-economic and organizational. The demographic category consists of three factors Age, Tenure and Job designation level. The second category which is personal consists of Job Satisfaction and Organizational commitment. While the third category is the organization which consists of payments and benefits, location of workplace, working environment (i.e., flexible working hours), perceive alternative employment opportunities, career promotion and recognition, supervision and relationship, training and improved skills and the last category consists of work stress, work/life balance and field of study. The research design is descriptive with a correlation type of instrumentation to get the effect of variables positively or negatively with the amount. The data will collect via a structured questionnaire. This study has identified several key factors that contribute to employee turnover, including perceived organizational support, job stress, work-life balance, and available job alternatives. The results suggest that organizations can reduce employee turnover by improving perceived organizational support and work-life balance while also minimizing job stress. These findings have important implications for HR management in developing effective retention strategies to retain valuable employees and improve organizational performance.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46947329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To manage and resolve conflicts effectively, various mediation tactics have been developed to minimize costs, satisfy interests, build relationships, and control resource expenditures. This research aims to explore the utilization and effectiveness of mediation tactics in resolving conflicts within the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation's (NNPC) Research and Development Department in Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria. The study examines the causes of organizational conflict and investigates the role of mediation in public enterprises. Data were collected using a self-made questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents in the Research and Development Department. The questionnaire employed a five-point Likert scale to measure opinions and perceptions. The research utilized a descriptive approach, and data analysis involved non-parametric statistics, such as frequency distributions and percentage values. The findings indicate that industrial conflicts frequently arise between employers and employees in the Research and Development Department. However, the study reveals that these conflicts can be effectively managed through mediation with the involvement of the workers' representative trade union. Therefore, the research highlights the importance of regular review of labor agreements and encourages effective employer-employee consultation and negotiation to reduce conflicts, promote industrial harmony, and enhance productivity. This study emphasizes the significance of mediation tactics in resolving conflicts within trade unions. It provides insights into the specific context of the NNPC's Research and Development Department and offers recommendations for organizations and stakeholders in industrial relations to foster conflict resolution, industrial harmony, and increased productivity.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":"51 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75835627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sociologists and medical sociologists have expressed concerns about the continued reliance on traditional healers, which often disregards modern scientific methods and facilities. A sample of 150 respondents was randomly selected, and data was collected using a structured questionnaire. The study reveals that the high cost of modern healthcare is a significant challenge rural dwellers face, leading them to seek more affordable traditional medicine. Traditional remedies have effectively catered to the sociocultural preferences and aspirations associated with modern medical care. Nigeria's socio-economic and sociocultural context, characterized by beliefs in witchcraft, spirits, and gods as causes of diseases, make eradicating this deeply rooted cultural heritage futile. Consequently, individuals are more likely to prefer modern medicine to traditional treatment methods. Based on the findings, it is recommended that traditional medicine be granted legal recognition and co-recognition as an official healthcare system in Nigeria. There is a pressing need to enhance the status, funding, and facilities of traditional medical clinics and practitioners and develop comprehensive training programs.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81336793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, race as an attribute and as a major social form tremendously affects many aspects of individuals’ lives, as well as society as a whole. It continues to shape social, political, and economic hierarchies. Many sociological theories that have focused on race and racism, but few have focused on an in-depth understanding of subtle racism and its socio-historical constructs. The purpose of this paper is to discuss and explore race, color, and racism, particularly the subjective form of racism, utilizing the Pool Theory.Pool theory, based on acquired idea from the billiard game, asserts that racism is formed through people’s implicit attitudes, feelings, and behaviors. It emphasizes that race, like many other social concepts, is socially and culturally created by the dominant groups for labeling others to suit their own imagination and goals. Based on generalizations, the theory accentuates that race is subjective and implicit, and that skin color is highly valued in society. According to this theory, those who possess favorite colors are more likely to be seen as superior, influential, valued, and successful in constructing concepts that becomes social reality. The choice of colors and the position of the billiard balls could be the consequence of implicit feelings and biased beliefs about others. Power differentiation, disparity, and colorism are evident in this game. Pool theory refutes color blindness, which is the belief that racism is no longer an issue in American society. The main objective of this study is to encourage future research in theory building, emphasizing the implicit aspects of racism. Additionally, this study can serve as an avenue for literature review, particularly in relation to race and racism.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43992355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The historical genesis of the word ‘Aryan’ was influenced by The First Persian Empire (550-330 B.C.E.) in reference to an Iranian homeland, and by nineteenth-century Western linguists’ associations with the ancestral Indo-Europeans (IE).1 Notable philologists examining the ‘homeland problem’ have shown a standard concern towards the accuracy of scholarship on Indo-European origins. Ara (2008) decodes Indo-European origins and spread that gradually led to affiliations between Indo-Iranians and the ‘Aryan’ label. The onomastics approach would suggest that the proto-language left identifiable clues in the landscape itself (Mallory & Adams, 2006, p. 447). Dyen’s (1956) linguistic migration and homeland theory cites a European homeland accepted since the nineteen hundreds. Nichols’ (1997) analysis of the Indo-European migrations from 4,000 to 3,500 B.C.E. points to a locus of language dispersal within western central Asia (p. 134). Mallory (1989) and Kuzmina (1994a) favor a Proto-Indo-European homeland in the Pontic-Caspian steppe region from the fifth to fourth millennium B.C.E.2 (Lamberg-Karlovsky, 2004, p. 142). The accurate whereabouts of the Indo-European and daughter Indo-Iranian language group have been reviewed from various fields and by abundant methodologies, including the eschatological, anthropological, linguistic, and archaeological—all adding to the convoluted nature of scholarship on the Aryan question. The academic search for an Iranian homeland raises the inquiry of how ethnicity and region become tantamount to politicized and prejudiced topics on the account of misappropriations of a linguistic concept. An archaeological and lexicostatistic excavation of the conservative nature to review the genesis of Aryan homeland origins may help diverge from the aggrandized ethnological, ethnographic, and anthropometric evidence that has ramified an essentialist nomenclature of the Indo-Iranians in the eighteen and nineteen hundreds.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41317978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The whole economy suffered the raging impact of COVID-19. The government had to force its way into creating new policies and revising the existing budget to encounter COVID-19. The paper aims to evaluate the national budget and its responses given by the Fijian Government concerning economic recovery amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The national state will prepare to encounter an economic crisis through ongoing propaganda and revision of its budget. The paper is intended to constitute and involve the fiscal policy of Fiji as to how it has changed dramatically over time to combat the global COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The script will also analyse government revenue and expenditure and its national debt situation and check if the nation is not in a dangerous financial disaster zone. Moreover, the paper will also investigate economic stability by analysing government debts, revenue and expenditure. The research will pull meaningful resources and policies used in the past two years of the budget since the stroke of COVID-19. The Government of Fiji takes countermeasures and policy strategies to sustain such a health crisis turning into an economic disaster. Furthermore, the paper highlights mistakes and lessons learnt pre- and post-COVID-19. The research paper will scrutinise the national budget, portray theoretical findings with descriptive analyses, and conclude if the economy is prepared to control the current health outbreak crisis or if there is fiscal overdrive with no hope. The analysis will also highlight if the Fiji Government is ready to face such outbreaks and prepare for any other unforeseen natural crisis. Therefore, the paper will provide transparent, constructive, and concise arguments based on the fiscal overdrive of the national budget of Fiji.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84896440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim is to boost the development of the agricultural industry, increase the added value and market competitiveness of agricultural products, and improve the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural production. To validate the relationship between regional image, perceived quality, and purchase intention, an online questionnaire survey was conducted involving 612 participants. The results indicate that the regional image of agricultural products significantly and positively influences both purchase intention and consumer perceived quality value. Moreover, perceived quality acts as a mediator between regional image and purchase intention. It is recommended that agricultural product enterprises maintain their regional image, enhance consumer perception, and stimulate purchase intention. Collaboration between enterprises and local governments can effectively promote the regional image of agricultural products. Furthermore, it is important to consider the country-of-origin effect within the same country and incorporate its impact on consumers into the customer perceived value variable. The study integrates consumers' perceived quality value and investigates the influence of regional image on purchase intentions, providing agricultural companies with more objective and scientific guidance for their marketing activities.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":"84 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75974786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the first steps in mitigating landslides in Damer District is to map areas that have the potential for landslides. The purpose of this study was to determine the spatial distribution of landslide-prone areas in Damer District, Southwest Maluku Regency. This study uses the SMORPH method to identify and classify areas that have the potential for landslides based on the matrix between the shape of the slope and the angle of the slope. This study resulted in 4 levels of landslide potential areas, namely very low, low, medium and high potential. Villages with high landslide potential are Wulur Village and villages with very low landslide potential are Ilih Village. The results of this study also illustrate that the higher the slope accompanied by the formation of convex or concave slopes, the higher the potential for landslides to occur.
