Explored here are the definitions and descriptions for the behaviors and attitudes that, when several are manifested for a group leader, could produce group and individual reactions and actions that are not conducive to group members' treatment, healing, and growth. Just as with a diagnosed narcissistic personality disorder, the person is not aware of his or her behaviors and attitudes and their possible impact on others. Presented also is an example for a leader's self-reflective process that can assist to mitigate some negative and potentially harmful effects on others.","PeriodicalId":90511,"journal":{"name":"Group","volume":"52 1","pages":"313 - 325"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84823218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In group, as in individual work, we focus on the words, being able to explain and translate meaning. Communication occurs through the explicit exchange of words. However, what is becoming more apparent is that interpersonal communication is preempted by the implicit, which is read in nonwords. The newer work of Schore and Tronick focuses on the implicit realm of the exchange. Siegel's work demonstrates how the flow of energy and information gets translated. Ogden's work demonstrates a particular sensorimotor embodied approach that works with trauma and attachment trauma. This article demonstrates how the group can act as a psychoneurobiological regulator by examining the process of a moment-to-moment (in vivo experience) freeze-frame of a rupture–repair sequence in group.","PeriodicalId":90511,"journal":{"name":"Group","volume":"1 1","pages":"28 - 7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88313553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, empirical investigation of effects is lacking. Systems-Centered therapy (SCT) methods are designed to improve the process and outcome of groups whatever their size. In this project, large-group members (n 264) were trained to use SCT's cardinal method of “functional subgrouping” while discussing professional roles. Pre- to postgroup, members on average reported no change in mood, but members scoring higher on the SCT Functional Subgrouping Questionnaire (FSQ) reported significantly more positive change in mood and greater connection to the association. Also, members with higher FSQ scores reported feeling more heard during the group and greater satisfaction with learning. Suggestions are made for future research that may further substantiate these findings.","PeriodicalId":90511,"journal":{"name":"Group","volume":"7 1","pages":"303 - 317"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90160803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
