There were 5469 Coronary Angiographies (CA) and 2817 Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI). The purpose was to analyze annual patient radiation data, investigate trends and compare with national and international literature and Dose Reference Levels (DRL). Patient doses were determined in terms of: kerma-area product PKA, fluoroscopy time FT and reference air-kerma Ka,r. Concerning the number of frames F, in 1.8% of CA cases and in 40% of PCI cases, was higher than Greek DRLs. PKA, in 13% of CA cases and in 31% of PCI cases, was higher than Greek DRLs. In 0.4% of CA cases, the calculated effective dose values were higher than 40 mSv, whereas in 0.9% PCI cases higher than 80 mSv. In 0.2% of CA cases, PSD was higher than 2 Gy and in 0.04% cases higher than 3 Gy. In 13% of PCI cases, PSD was higher than 2 Gy, in 3% higher than 3 Gy and in 0.4% higher than 5 Gy. FT in 19.2% of CA cases and in 32% of PCI cases was higher than Greek DRLs. The radiation dose trends in IC procedures in this hospital, for the last 8 years, suggest that patient radiation doses in CA are less variable through the years compared to PCI. Doses are comparable to the literature and median values are lower than Greek and European DRLs. The practice of the well experienced interventionalists, with the support of evolving technology, shows that simpler procedures, like CA, need slight shorter FT, while the most demanding procedures like PCI, appear to require more frames without increasing in FT or PSD.","PeriodicalId":90030,"journal":{"name":"OMICS journal of radiology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2167-7964.1000248","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41977659","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous CMR studies described the distribution of LGE in patients with LVNC; however, it still remains unclear. The purpose of the study was to describe the distribution of LGE in patients meeting cardiovascular magnetic resonance criteria for Left Ventricular Non-Compaction (LVNC). Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 15 patients adult patients (11 males and 4 females; mean age, 42 ± 13 years) considered to meet standard CMR criteria for LVNC. For each patient, cine and contrast-enhanced CMR images were analyzed to evaluate LV systolic function and the prevalence and ex-tent of LGE. The presence or absence of LGE was qualitatively determined for each left ventricular myocardial segment. Results: The mean NC/C ratio was 4.6 ± 0.9. The areas of non-compaction were most commonly observed at the apex, the anterior and the lateral walls, mainly on their apical and mid-cavity segments. LGE was present in 11 of the 15 patients (73%). LGE was observed most frequently in the ventricular septum commonly on basal and mid-cavity segments. The distribution of LGE was midmyocardial (n=42; 67%), subepicardial (n=11; 18%), transmural (n=6; 10%) and subendocardial (n=3; 5%), in total of 62 LGE (+) left ventricular segments. No association was found between LGE and non-compaction at left ventricular segmental level (phi coefficient 0,021; p= 0.191). Conclusion: LGE was most often observed in the ventricular septum with mid-myocardial distribution. Distribution of LGE in patients with LVNC is observed in both non-compacted and compacted segments with prevalence of compacted zones. This maintenance the concept that LVNC is a diffuse process including both non-compacted and morphologically normal segments.","PeriodicalId":90030,"journal":{"name":"OMICS journal of radiology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2167-7964.1000246","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46342372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We investigated imaging findings and related factors in patients who experienced rebleeding during CTA in our hospital. Materials and methods: Participants comprised 112 patients who underwent CTA for ruptured cerebral aneurysm in our hospital between January 10 and December 2015. CTA was performed using a 64-row detector system. Results: Rebleeding occurred during CTA in 5 of 112 patients, representing a rebleeding rate of 4.5%. Mean time from initial onset of hemorrhage to CTA was shorter in patients with rebleeding (median, 88 min) than in patients without rebleeding (median, 228 min; P=0.051), and blood pressure at the time of initial treatment tended to be higher for patients with rebleeding. Patients with rebleeding showed either: a) spiral or wave-shaped hemorrhage into the cistern in which the aneurysm was located; or b) tear-drop-shaped hemorrhage within the hematoma. Patients with rebleeding were all grades 5 according to the World Federation of Neurological Surgeons (WFNS) and underwent CTA within 3 h of onset. Conclusion: CTA offers excellent performance for the diagnosis of cerebral aneurysm, but the use of intravenous contrast agent may carry some risk of rebleeding. History of recent severe subarachnoid hemorrhage also appears to represent a risk factor for rebleeding. As contrast agent injection may produce hemodynamic effects, management of fluctuations in blood pressure during CTA is crucial.","PeriodicalId":90030,"journal":{"name":"OMICS journal of radiology","volume":"6 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2167-7964.1000275","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70851220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the background of diverticulitis various fistulous communications of sigmoid colon with adjacent organs have been described, colovesical fistula being the most common [3]. Fistulous communication between colon and fallopian tube (colosalpingeal fistula) develop when either of them have diseased wall which can be secondary to pelvic tubal infections or pelvic malignancies, however few cases have been reported in background of diverticulitis. They are a heterogeneous group and vascular adrenal cysts constitute the most common type. The vast majority of these tumours are silent; however, occasionally, they can present a great variety of symptoms such as mass effect, abdominal pain or discomfort. They are benign lesions without malignant potential that can require surgical treatment to confirm diagnosis or alleviate symptoms. The development of imaging techniques has increased the number of lesions diagnosed incidentally. Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are useful tools to evaluate these lesions as well as their relation with surrounding structures. Material and methods: We report a vascular adrenal cyst occurring in a 75 year old man that presented abdominal pain and mass on the left side of the abdomen. Imaging techniques showed a retroperitoneal tumour with a size of 22 × 25 × 22 cm that displaced surrounding structures although without signs of invasion. Due to the symptoms and the size of the lesion, the patient underwent surgery. The postoperative period was uneventful and histological study revealed a vascular adrenal cyst. Conclusion: Vascular adrenal cysts constitute a rare entity. Surgery is mandatory for large lesions, symptomatic patients and to confirm diagnosis.","PeriodicalId":90030,"journal":{"name":"OMICS journal of radiology","volume":"6 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2167-7964.1000284","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70851067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We studied the efficacy feasibility and safety of Femoral S carotid catheter (made by shaping existing catheters) in this study. Methods: 1169 patients undergoing transfemoral or transradial carotid angiography between the years 2015 and 2017 were evaluated. The 156 patients found that are underwent carotid angiography with Femoral S catheter. Results: The Baseline characteristics of the patients were record. The total time of the procedure with the new catheter was found 7.2 ± 1.3 min and the amount of opaque media used was 50.20 ± 15.60 ml. Selective imaging success was high 95%. Minor Complication (local hematoma, leg pain, dizziness, headache, hypotension, allergic reaction of the contrast media) development was found 3.8%. Permanent damage, morbidity and/or mortality were not seen in patients. Discussion: The right judkins catheter is usually preferred in the carotid angiography performed with the femoral route. The newly developed catheter does not stick to the aortic wall because the tip is in the “S” shape. Therefore, the processing time is shorter and the imaging performance is better than multipurpose catheter. Conclusion: Carotid angiography with the newly developed Femoral S carotid catheter seems easier and safer. Performing of Carotid angiography may help to reduce stroke frequency at the time of coronary angiography in patients with coronary artery disease.","PeriodicalId":90030,"journal":{"name":"OMICS journal of radiology","volume":"6 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2167-7964.1000274","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70851171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
