The main objective of this study was to investigate whether Dr. Sears’s diet affects employees’ physical manifestations. Data were collected from a sample of 100 employees who were employed by different companies in the broader area of Attica, once a week, for a period of three weeks. Of those who participated in the study 44% were female. The results showed that Dr. Sears’s diet had a beneficial effect on the participants’ physical symptoms. This diet normalized the physical symptoms from the stomach and musculoskeletal system, the fainting tendencies, shortness of breath, low energy levels and difficulties in sleep. Future research should include personal (e.g. Big 5 Personality Traits) and environmental (e.g. working conditions) factors for the best possible improvement in occupational health.","PeriodicalId":89844,"journal":{"name":"Psychology (Irvine, Calif.)","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136260061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Set within the height of the civil demonstrations against and for the legal reform in Israel, we presented two models: one sees civic involvement as an action aimed at reducing the sense of helplessness thus reducing anxiety, while the other sees anxiety as a preliminary response-oriented mechanism therefore predicted a positive association between levels of anxiety and civic engagement. Based on these two approaches a comprehensive model was designed in which anxiety and positive and negative responses mediate the association between demographics, coping resources (resilience and optimism) and civic engagement. A sample of 386 Israeli citizens displaying diverse political orientations, ages and education levels was recruited via social networks. Participants reported demographic variables, and filled out questionnaires assessing their resilience, optimism, state anxiety, responses to the reform and their level of civic engagement/participation around the legal reforms. The results supported the second path. Anxiety and response patterns mediated the association between gender, resilience, optimism, and attitudes toward reform and civic engagement. Anxiety was mostly positively associated with engagement, mostly. The results are discussed as they shed new light on psychological resources and the dynamic underlying civic activism in times of socio-political crisis.","PeriodicalId":89844,"journal":{"name":"Psychology (Irvine, Calif.)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135711923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of IPV’s subtypes, economic abuse is the least studied, yet it is one of the most prevalent. To remedy this imbalance, in this study we examined individuals’ perceptions of economic abuse toward female and male victims. Participants were given one of two scenarios depicting a heterosexual couple with either the female or the male being the victim of the economic abuse. We measured participants’ likelihood to blame the victim and minimize the abuse. Gender role ideology was also measured as a predictor variable. We found that economic abuse perpetuated by a female was minimized more than abuse perpetuated by a male and that male victims were blamed more than female victims. Male participants were more likely to blame the victim and minimize the abuse than female participants in both scenarios. Finally, hostile sexism was a significant predictor for both blame and minimization.","PeriodicalId":89844,"journal":{"name":"Psychology (Irvine, Calif.)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135442434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
