The qualitative research design and specifically multilevel face-to-face focus group (FG) and unsynchronized FG e-mail interviews were chosen for this study. The framework of analysis were undergraduates students in three public universities in Rivers State of Nigeria and three multilevel face-to-face FGs, and three unsynchronized e-mail interviews were held. Thematic template and content analysis techniques were employed for rigorous data analysis with NVivo 11. Four themes, market reach, academic coordination, post-academic services feedback, and students and staff collaboration, showed support for the role of SMM in CRM effectiveness for students’ recruitments and retention.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"121 1","pages":"1 - 16"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/0971890718758197","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72527538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also tries to understand whether gender of the leader acts as a moderating variable in relation to TL and OC. It gives critical insights on gender stereotyping of leadership in public sector banks (PSBs) taking theoretical inputs from role congruity theory. A survey based on validated statements was used to collect data from 328 employees of PSBs working in the branches. Correlation and hierarchical multiple regression were used to test the model in the study. The interaction effect was better grasped by plotting the data on the graph. The outcomes of the study confirmed the previous findings. The OC is positively influenced by TL behaviours. However, most interestingly, leader’s gender significantly moderated the relation between the two. Although male managers TL style has a greater impact on employees’ commitment, leadership of female managers also has a positive impact. The results do indicate the presence of traditional perceptions about gender and leadership but also clearly demonstrate that stereotypes are being broken. These findings have important implications in organizational setting. It strengthens the importance of TL behaviours and its need to be systematically inculcated among managers. Female managers should be supported by the top management through mentorship and leadership development, and employee learning should include bias reduction exercises.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"69 1","pages":"30 - 45"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82864233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we have analysed customer reactions on social media promotional campaigns launched by three major mobile phone companies selling their phones in India. The analysis has been done on 18,659 tweets by performing part of speech (POS) categorization-based thematic analysis, Harvard-IV lexicon-based sentiment analysis and social media index-based reach analysis. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in customer’s reactions on different brands promotional campaigns; ranging from very high social media reach and customer engagement to low social media reach and no customer engagement. Based on its results, the study also proposes major recommendations for marketing managers who are in the process of creating social media promotional campaigns for new products.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"52 1","pages":"80 - 99"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79819075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper conceptualizes Chinese health diplomacy in Africa over the past fifty years through three analytic frameworks: realist vs. constructivist motivations in international relations, vertical vs. horizontal initiatives for health assistance, and bilateral vs. multilateral approaches to global health. Drawing lessons from the evolution of American health assistance, we argue that a better understanding of these frameworks-recognizing why countries pursue health diplomacy, what vertical and horizontal strategies they use, and how they engage in this work bilaterally or multilaterally-could improve global health diplomacy.</p>","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"12 2","pages":"4-29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6447313/pdf/nihms-1011045.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41175549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Businesses around the globe are accepting digital marketing communication as an advanced, cost-effective and more relevant alternative to its traditional counterpart, that is, conventional marketing. Consumers have also become accustomed to digital technology and exercising their control over content along with dictating the terms for time and place of purchase. Marketers are resorting to digital marketing because it is interactive, personalized, relevant, informative and cost-effective. FMCG, BFSI and automobiles have been consistently ranked at top digital spenders of the country for last 5 years. The present study deals with understanding the value proposition of digital marketing in Indian car market by applying Neil Rackham’s model. The study also aimed to assess the impact of value proposition on car buyers’ attitude. Primary data were collected from 603 actual and potential car buyers using area-wise proportionate sampling from Delhi. One sample Wilocoxon-Signed Rank Test was applied as test of significance to understand the value proposition. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to assess the overall fit and impact of value proposition on car buyers’ attitude. Value proposition model successfully explained 67 per cent of the variation in car buyers’ attitude.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"1 1","pages":"175 - 191"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75876854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Still, there is dearth of studies scrutinizing the advertisements by exploring the influential aspects of advertising. This study attempts to find out the various influential aspects of advertisements and how these aspects influence the product selection, lifestyle and children behaviour. Study is carried out in one of the economically developed states of India (Haryana) using stratified convenience sampling. Data is collected from 421 respondents using a structured questionnaire. Results are generated by application of factor analysis and regression analysis. Seven influential aspects of advertisements were identified in the study—influence on children, positive influence on purchase, influence on social status, influence on attitude and behaviour, negative influence, influence on perceived quality and influence on women. Study further highlighted that two influential aspects—negative influence and influence on women—do not contribute to product selection, lifestyle and children behaviour. Rest of the influential aspects were found out to be impacting either product selection, lifestyle and children behaviour.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"2 1","pages":"192 - 210"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87947750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers have extricated many factors affecting corporate reputation. However, the role of gender diversity in enhancing corporate reputation is relatively an exotic area of research in emerging economies like India where women face vulnerable discrimination while contesting for board seats. The present study aims to unravel the relevance of female directors in convalescing corporate reputation by analysing data of 437 Indian companies in 2012, just prior to enactment of Companies Act, 2013. It was found that 60 per cent of the sample companies lack gender diversity and in fact employ no women director on the board. Results of multivariate regression analysis reveal that the presence of female on the board is perceived as a positive quality signal so as to enhance corporate reputation. The findings confer a motivation among Indian corporate managers to promptly adhere to the provisions of New Companies Act, 2013, mandating one woman director in boardroom, so as to procure benefits in terms of favourable corporate reputation. Baffled stakeholders can interpret women directors on the board as a clue to better governance and thereby perceive such companies propitiously.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"32 1","pages":"111 - 125"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86601731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article quantifies AM and RM and tests whether Indian companies choose substitute relationship over complementary relationship between AM and RM after factoring firm-specific parameters such as firm size, market-to-book ratio, leverage, accounting flexibility, return on asset (ROA), business group affiliation and absolute accruals. Modified Jones model (1991) and Roychowdhury model (2006) have been used for quantifying AM and RM, respectively. To model the relationship between AM and RM, two-stage least square (2 SLS) regressions method has been used. The results suggest that Indian companies undertake both AM and RM with a higher predisposition towards AM. The positive association between the two supports complementary relationship between two and indicates that Indian companies use AM and RM to garner greater benefit from earnings management.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"105 1","pages":"156 - 174"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74297875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Theoretically, reforms that develop the banking sector are expected to improve banks’ performance and reduce excessive bank-risk taking by enhancing bank capital ratio in addition to maintain the stability in the system. Nonetheless, literature also shows that the health of the financial system may be at risk following a liberalization process in the form of contagion effects of financial markets integration. A recent example is the global 2007/2008 global financial crisis. Against this background, this article examines the extent to which banking sector development in selected African countries affect the commercial banks’ capitalization ratio. Employing a dynamic panel regression technique for the examination while controlling for bank-specific and macroeconomic factors over the period 2000–2014, this article finds that banking sector development in the selected countries improves bank capital ratio consistent with the aims of banking sector reforms and the maintenance of stable financial system.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"24 1","pages":"126 - 138"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80965288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
