This makes it possible to identify situations at risk of congenital rubella and the pregnant women to be offered vaccination in the puerperium. Materials and methods: The Authors analysed rubella test coverage and the immunity status of pregnant mothers between 2010 and 2019, using birth attendance certificates. The factors associated with a susceptibility state to rubella are also analyzed through a multivariate analysis, according to the logistic model. The incidence of congenital rubella syndrome is also estimated. Results: Rubella test coverage on 44,473 pregnant mothers was 99.8%. The average proportion of susceptible subjects was 7.42% (6.5 in Italians, 9.9 in foreigners). The trend of susceptible subjects grows over time. Seroconversion was observed in 7 cases, with 1 confirmed case of congenital rubella. Young age, being a foreigner, residing outside the province of Trento, not being married, having a low level of education and being a primiparous are independent risk factors for a state of susceptibility to rubella in pregnant women. Conclusions: A current information flow such as that guaranteed by the birth attendance certificates allows for monitoring of pregnancy at the population level. In particular, it is also possible to identify women at risk of rubella who should be offered the vaccine before discharge.","PeriodicalId":87313,"journal":{"name":"Journal of pregnancy and child health","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69485195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite being a lifesaving procedure in emergent situations, it can be associated with a range of adverse maternal and childhood health outcomes. To date, there is a lack of consistent studies regarding the association between mode of delivery and a child’s neurodevelopment. Objective: The aim of this review is to highlight the possibility of neurocognitive outcomes during childhood and adolescence being affected by the child’s mode of delivery.Method: Literature review based on studies published between 2005 and 2018, available on PubMed. Results: Regarding uncomplicated pregnancies and deliveries most studies found no difference in neurodevelopment according to mode of delivery, apart from nonplanned cesarean, which usually correlates to worse outcomes. In breech presentation, shortterm outcomes of children born vaginally were poorer while long-term neurological outcomes were contradictory. Preterm infants were more commonly associated with adverse neurological outcomes and these varied according to the age at which children were assessed. Considering drug administration during delivery, the long-term neurological effects of children exposed to exogenous oxytocin are not known and transitory neonatal exposure to anaesthetic drugs during delivery probably won’t harmfully influence longterm neurodevelopment. Conclusions: Neurodevelopment is influenced by a vast number of genetic and environmental variables, becoming impracticable to account for all factors that may affect neurocognitive outcomes. Therefore, future investigation is necessary to enlighten if neurodevelopment is in fact associated with mode of delivery or if underlying causes are the real influencers. Thus, when considering mode of delivery, every obstetrical case should be individually analysed, maternal and neonatal risks and benefits should be balanced and common beliefs demystified to help mothers make an informed decision and promote their children’s healthy development.","PeriodicalId":87313,"journal":{"name":"Journal of pregnancy and child health","volume":"5 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41871007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four days old, an interlabial cyst appeared, located anterior to the vaginal introitus. The urethral meatus was normally positioned and there was no voiding difficulty. Interlabial cysts in newborn girls are rare and may have different origins. This girl had a so-called paraurethral cyst, which is often possible to recognize by clinical examination. This sort of cyst is generally completely asymptomatic and has a high rate of spontaneous involution. Without any treatment, the cyst had disappeared at examination two months later.","PeriodicalId":87313,"journal":{"name":"Journal of pregnancy and child health","volume":" ","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2376-127X.1000381","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48478560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Case presentation: A 22 years old gravida two para one mother has undergone termination of pregnancy for prenatally diagnosed Chiari II malformation (CM-II) diagnosed by two dimensional ultrasound (2D US) in JUMC. She expelled a male, mono-cephalic diprosopus abortus, having two faces with mirror image to each other. Each face has two eyes, one mouth, one nose, midline cleft lip and palate, one lateral ear, chins with micrognathia. Additionally it has hydrocephalus and spina bifida.
