Mice were randomized into six groups: control, lupus nephritis, methylprednisolone, snail mucus 0.5 ccs, snail mucus 0,5 cc and methylprednisolone, and snail mucus one cc and methylprednisolone group.\u0000Result: Snail mucus significantly affected the activity index (p = 0.001). The lowest activity index was shown by snail mucus one cc and methylprednisolone group. While the chronicity index was not significantly affected by the snail mucus with p = 0.195. IHD is caused by obstruction of one or more coronary arteries. Among the various causes of obstruction atherosclerosis is the leading cause. Physical inactivity, smoking, saturated fat rich diet, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidaemia are modifiable risk factors for atherosclerosis which ultimately results in IHD. In this article we will discuss the disease in the light of Unani system of Medicine and how to manage it depending on the understood concepts\u0000Methods: A number of classical Unani textbooks were referred for description of various heart diseases and various search engines such as PubMed, Google Scholar and Research Gate were cited for recent advancements using the key words IHD, atherosclerosis, cardio-protective herbal drugs, etc.\u0000Conclusion: Owing to the irreversible damage due to IHD it is better to prevent myocardium damage by minimising the risk factors at its earliest. In Unani system of medicine many cardio-protective drugs have been described which when combined with lifestyle modification can play vital role in keeping cardiac diseases at bay.\u0000Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol. 22 No. 03 July’23 Page : 475-481

Consortium of pathogenic bacteria with elevated levels lead to onset and progression of periodontal disease. Gram negative bacteria, primarily severe anaerobes, are responsible for most of it.\u0000Aims and Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the presence of Treponema denticola in periodontal disease in different subgingival plaque samples collected from the oral cavity of 30 patients diagnosed with chronic periodontitis. The plaque samples were compared with similar plaque samples of 15 healthy patients.\u0000Method: Subgingival dental plaque samples from shallow and deep crevices were examined for the presence of bacterial DNA using the PCR method, which enables the simultaneous identification of multiple bacterial genomes.\u0000Results: PCR results show amplification and quantification of T. denticola in 10 out of 15 patients in group-1, 9 out of 15 patients in group-2, and 4 out of 15 patients in group-3. The statistical analyses of the results show that they are statistically significant.\u0000Conclusion: According to the aforementioned study, PCR microorganism identification is sensitive and specific. The cortisol, vitamin C, glutathione (GSH), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in the serum of twenty young male basketball players were measured before and after the exercise. The cortisol values and GSH levels showed a statistically significant decrease after physical effort compared to the result before training, in contrast to vitamin C and MDA levels represent a statistically significant increase. Decreasing cortisol levels after activity showed decreasing stress because exercise for years will reduce the stimulating effect of cortisol secretion. In addition, in response to increased oxidative stress caused by exercise, serum vitamin C increased to prevent oxidative stress. As a result, training in these athletes led to producing reactive oxygen species and thus increased lipid peroxidation, which increased MDA levels by exhausting the antioxidant defense system and reducing GSH levels. Measurement of these biomarkers allows the identification of players affected by severe oxidative stress and indicates the time of intervention for improving their performance and health.\u0000Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.22 (Special Issue) 2023 p.127-132

The purpose of our study is to estimate the serum level of some indicators in women patients with PCOS. This study was conducted prospectively on 70 participating women who attended Al-Batool Teaching Hospital in Baquba (Iraq), with ages between (18-35) years, from February 2020 to November 2022. All the participating women were separative into two groups: )Control( group included 30 healthy women, and (PCOS) group included 40 women suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome. Ultrasound and analyzes of the sex hormones of the participants were used to confirm the detection of PCOS. Serological biomarkers were measured for both groups, including histidine, ferritin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), prolactin, and estrogen (E2). Results proven a notable reduction in the serum levels of hepcidin and FSH in PCOS group compared to healthy control group. In contrast, a considerable increases in levels of LH, prolactin, ferritin, and estrogen E2 hormone were observed in patients with PCOS. It was founded that these biochemical indicators may be a reliable diagnostic measure for polycystic ovary syndrome cases.\u0000Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.22 (Special Issue) 2023 p.4-9
