Included were 600, 800 or 1,000 IU of PMSG for the gilts and 750, 1,000 oder 1,250 IU of the same batch (Pregmagon-Dessau) for the adult sows for ovarian stimulation. This was followed by application of 500 IU of HCG to the gilts or 300 micrograms Gn-RH vet. \"Berlin-Chemie\" + 300 IU HCG to the adult sows for synchronised ovulation. Laparotomy was performed on the gilts on the fifth day from PMSG application and on the adult sows on the fourth day. Average ovariotropic stimulation was \"mild\" in response to lower doses (14.8 follicles in gilts and 20.4 follicles in adult sows) but was \"pronounced\" in response to medium doses (19.4 or 22.7 follicles, respectively). The pharmacological concept of \"mild\" exogenic ovarian stimulation by low dosage at the threshold of effectiveness should deserve more attention, last but not least, for breeding aspects. The two groups of animals on both farms differed considerably from one another with regard to reactivity, which cannot be etiologically interpreted for the time being.</p>","PeriodicalId":8263,"journal":{"name":"Archiv fur experimentelle Veterinarmedizin","volume":"44 1","pages":"11-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13493303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bypass cannula is made up to flexible, curved single cannulas, 25 mm in diameter, which by a new design are safely connected to each other in a jointless, non-angular manner. The cannulas are manufactured of Type B 400/40 K PVC paste by means of a casting technique. The connecting link consists of a PVC or piacryl tube, about 45 mm in length, which is pressed by means of sleeve nuts against the collars of the two cannula openings. The bypass cannula weights 160 g and is tightly attached to the body of the animal, so that neither grazing nor calving are obstructed. Bypass problems of the past (leakage from proximal cannula, clogging, accidental opening of cannula connection) have not even occurred to high-performance cows with feed uptake rates between 3.0 and 3.5 kg of dry matter to 100 kg of live weight and corresponding digestion passages up to 400 l daily.</p>","PeriodicalId":8263,"journal":{"name":"Archiv fur experimentelle Veterinarmedizin","volume":"44 1","pages":"59-63"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13493795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The investigations were undertaken with a view to differentiating T-lymphocytes and macrophages by differentiated activity on acid unspecific alpha naphthylacetate esterase. Lymphoma specimens were cytologically evaluated under semi-quantitative or quantitative aspects. Evidence was provided to the existence of correlations between intensity of Marek's disease lymphomas and their relative contribution to lymphocytes, lymphoblasts, and macrophages. The amount of lymphoblasts was found to go up along with advancing lymphoma proliferation, while the amounts of lymphocytes and macrophages went down. Moderately pronounced lymphomas contained 16 percent macrophages on average, whereas only about 8 percent were recordable from highly pronounced lymphomas. The high presence of macrophages in less developed lymphomas is considered to reflect unspecific defence reaction against neoplastic lymphatic cells in the phase of low tumour malignancy.</p>","PeriodicalId":8263,"journal":{"name":"Archiv fur experimentelle Veterinarmedizin","volume":"44 2","pages":"233-49"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13534555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vitamin K, when administered together with phenylbutazone, reduced its effect on SGOT activity and creatinine concentration. Levamisole antagonised the uricosuric effect of phenylbutazone, when both were concomitantly given. Histopathological examination of the liver of rats, given phenylbutazone alone, showed mild degenerative changes, whereas in combination with levamisole these changes were exacerbated. Kidney showed oedema, degeneration, congestion, and haemorrhage.
