The rabbits were dosed intravenously with 15 mg/kg CyA for 4 consecutive days. Each rabbit served as its own control. The rabbits were injected IV with technetium (Tc)-99m EHIDA, and dynamic images were obtained prior to and 1, 4, 8, and 15 days after CyA treatment. There was no difference in half-times of blood clearance in control and CyA-treated rabbits. There were differences in the half-times of liver curve and bilirubin measurements between control and 4-day treated rabbits. By the 15th day after CyA treatment both the radionuclide findings and bilirubin levels became normal. The results suggest that CyA causes intrahepatic cholestasis and demonstrate evidence of reversibility of CyA's toxic effect on bile flow after treatment is discontinued.</p>","PeriodicalId":76992,"journal":{"name":"American journal of physiologic imaging","volume":"5 1","pages":"30-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13522869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

F-IDA was least effective, with the lowest biliary excretion and highest renal participation, but multihalogen substitution as in penta-F-IDA increased the biliary specificity and reduced urinary excretion to the extent that penta-F-IDA scored second to disida and even above I-IDA, with its high molecular weight. Seven acute dogs were studied with beta probes and positron emission tomography to understand the dynamics of rubidium-82 in the kidneys. Preliminary results show that first pass extraction fraction for rubidium-82 ranged from 80-95% with an average of 89%. During the 150 sec of data collection, approximately 44.5% of the injected dose is excreted in the venous side and 9.75% in the ureter. A method to define the regions of denervation would be a valuable aid in determining the role that loss of adrenergic neurons plays in myocardial infarction and particularly in causing arrhythmias. [123I] meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) was used to portray scintigraphically the intact neurons in dog hearts. Occlusion of the left circumflex (LCX) or the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) produced defects that appeared to be regularly larger in the [123I]MIBG images than in the [201T1]images of the same heart; the differences were considered to be the regions of denervation which were relatively larger after LCX than LAD infarcts. Ex vivo measurements of endogenous norepinephrine and residual [125I]MIBG concentrations gave confirmation of neuronal injury. A computer program to quantify the regions of denervation appeared imprecise, but gave some promise. Scintigraphy of [123I]MIBG offers a method to define patterns of denervation in the living animal and man.</p>","PeriodicalId":76992,"journal":{"name":"American journal of physiologic imaging","volume":"5 4","pages":"151-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13245826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most studies on thrombogenicity have been done as short-term experiments. In the present communication we have evaluated graft thrombogenicity for autologous vein, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and pure chinese silk grafts, immediately after graft implantation, 1, and 2 months thereafter, using Indium-111-labelled platelets, evaluated platelet consumption, and studied patency up to 4 months after graft implantation in a sheep model. The least thrombogenic graft material was found to be the autologous vein, followed by the silk graft and the PTFE graft. Already 1 month after graft implantation healing of the grafts seems to have occurred, resulting in a minimal detectable platelet sequestration. Platelet consumption by the graft can be seen as a decrease in platelet count in the peripheral blood. Four months after graft implantation the autologous vein grafts showed a patency rate of 71%, the silk grafts 55%, and the PTFE grafts 38%. The pure silk prosthesis revealed though at harvest of the grafts, a high incidence of aneurysmal graft dilatation.</p>","PeriodicalId":76992,"journal":{"name":"American journal of physiologic imaging","volume":"5 2","pages":"80-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13406183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All the patients and controls underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Circumscribed cortical hypoperfusion was observed in three patients, and in one case there was no evidence of cortical or sulcal alterations on MRI. In all the patients, a reduction of the white matter perfusion was found in periventricular and/or supraventricular regions. This pattern was substantially correlated with the typical white matter hyperintensities shown by MRI scans. These findings support the hypothesis that white matter hypoperfusion is the most prominent functional abnormality in subcortical arteriosclerotic encephalopathy.</p>","PeriodicalId":76992,"journal":{"name":"American journal of physiologic imaging","volume":"5 2","pages":"68-74"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13406181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
