Significant (p<0.05) variations in the lipid content was observed between the fishes with the highest value in A. leiogaster and lowest value in Johnius sp. and H. nehereus. Based on the total lipid contents fishes were classified as high fat fish (A. leiogaster), low fat fishes (F. heptadactyla and P. hamrur) and lean fishes (C. dussumerrie, D. russelli, H. nehereus and Johnius sp.). Citrus wastes and soil samples were processed for the isolation of bacterial species using Hankin's medium. Morphological and biochemical characterization was carried out from purified cultures that showed clear zones in the Hankin's medium plate. The highest pectinase producing Bacillus sp.2 was selected for comparison of enzyme activity between the free and immobilized cell states. Increased enzyme activity was observed in free cell state as compared to the immobilized cell condition after 48 h and 72 h of incubation. However, pectinase production was higher in immobilized cell condition as compared to the free cell state after 96 h of incubation. Agroindustrial waste such as peel of citrus fruits, rotten vegetable wastes, molasses, etc. could be explored for isolating pectinase producing bacteria","PeriodicalId":7285,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Applied Science Research","volume":"32 1","pages":"110-114"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73864606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
