Welded regions of austenitic stainless-steel canisters in DCSS are under tensile stress and susceptible to environmental chloride corrosion, which can potentially lead to the formation of CISCC. The low thermal input and high throughput nature of cold spraying make it a viable repair and mitigation option for managing potential CISCC. Cold spray coatings are under compressive stress and act as a barrier in Cl-rich environments. Characterization data including microstructure, hardness, and corrosion resistance are presented for cold spray coatings on stainless steel substrates.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83535481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Metallization of CFRP by cold spraying as a surface modification method can improve the low thermal resistance and electrical conductivity of CFRP without the need for high heat input. Herein; we cold spray a Sn coating on cured CFRP substrates and examine the Sn/epoxy interface. The results suggest that the Sn coatings are successfully obtained at a gas temperature of 473 K and indicate no severe damage to the CFRP substrates. The stress and plastic strain distributions at the cross-section of the Sn/CFRP interface when a Sn particle is impacted onto the CFRP substrate are obtained using the finite element method.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"85 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76854423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A reference material of AISI 316L stainless steel was used as a substrate. Cavitation tests were performed using a modified ultrasonic tester. X-ray diffraction was used to examine the phase transformation before and after cavitation tests. Also, the eroded surfaces of specimens were investigated by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and 3D optical profilometer. The cavitation results revealed that the deposited layer exhibited a resistance to cavitation erosion approximately 10 times higher than the AISI 316L steel due to the martensitic phase transformation occurring during the cavitation process. The phase transformation plays a main role to minimize the cavitation damage of specimen. This is due to the fact that it contributes to obstructing movement of dislocations and increasing the hardness as a result of the increased hardening on the surface.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"55 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74120573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This motivates a reconsideration of development of MCrAlY at a fundamental level to understand why the huge efforts in the past three decades has so little impact on industrial application of MCrAlY alloys. Detailed examination of crack trajectories of thermally cycled samples and statistic image analyses of fracture surface of APS TBCs confirmed that APS TBCs predominately fails in top coat. Cracks initiate and propagate along splat boundaries next to interface area. TBC lifetime can be increased by either increasing top coat fracture strength (strain tolerance) or reducing the tensile stress in top coat or both. By focusing on the reduction of tensile stress in top coats; three new bond coat alloys have been designed and developed; and the significant progress in TBC lifetime have been achieved by using new alloys. Extremely high thermal cycle lifetime is attributed to the unique properties of new alloys; such as remarkably lower coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and weight fraction of β phase; absence of mixed / spinel oxides; and TGO self repair ability; which cannot be achieved by the existed MCrAlY alloys.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87147707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Copper surfaces have been identified for their antimicrobial properties. Improvement of antibacterial and antiviral performances can be tailored by surface microstructure modification. Severe plastic deformation is an effective surface modification procedure to improve the mechanical performance of metal surfaces. This technique can be adapted to obtain surface grain refinement and induce surface roughness. In this work, cold spray shot peening is used to modify copper substrate surfaces and study the effects on their antibacterial properties. To modify the grain structure of copper, different shot-peening parameters were examined. The surface roughness and microstructure were investigated by employing optical and scanning electron microscopy. The bactericidal activity of copper substrates after shot peening treatment is discussed and a comparison between the bacterial load on treated (shot-peened surface and cold sprayed copper coating) and untreated surfaces (as-received) is provided. Testing of the surfaces after their exposure to the biological environment demonstrated improved microbial inactivation performances for surfaces that had undergone grain refinement without exceeding a certain roughness value.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79845160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However; due to the physical properties of water; producing a water based SPS coating with desirable microstructure has so far been elusive. In this study; the effects of pH and dispersant on the rheology and stability of YSZ water based suspensions were investigated. PEI; PBTCA and α-Terpineol were used as dispersant polymers. The stabilized suspensions were deposited by Axial III plasma spray system and the relationship between suspension parameters and the atomized droplet size and the final coating microstructure was studied. The results showed that a combination of Terpineol dispersant with pH adjustment to 2.5; could lead to a SPS coating with columnar microstructure having 17.4 vol.% porosity.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"148 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77859629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, the 316L stainless steel powder was prepared by a vacuum atomization furnace and sieved into a normal-sized distribution range from 15 to 53 μm with a median diameter of 37.4 μm, and a fine-sized distribution range from 10 to 38 μm with a median diameter of 18.9 μm. Then they were mixed with each other in different proportions. The results show that, under the condition of the same SLM parameters, the SLM part, with adding a large amount of fine-sized powder, has a lower density and strength, as well as more holes and spheroidized particles, compared with the SLM part with adding a small amount of finer-sized powder. Furthermore, the 316L stainless steel powder with a high oxygen content was prepared by a non-vacuum atomization furnace. Although the 316L stainless steel powder with a high oxygen content can be evenly spread in the SLM process, the surface layer of the powder is easy to form an oxide film during the cooling and solidification of powder inside the molten pool. Under the action of thermal stress, the small crack forms and expands along the oxide film, eventually leading to large cracks inside the melt channel.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"113 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72878440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
