This in turn requires accurate and reliable methods to estimate network loads, especially in distribution networks. This paper proposes employing the root-unroot method in combination with local linear regression for estimating electric load probability density. Using measured load data obtained for a range of commercial enterprises, the performance of the proposed model is compared with two kernel density estimation models and two traditional parametric models (Gaussian and Gamma) and is assessed using a variety of error metrics and statistical tests. Results confirm the accuracy of the nonparametric models over the parametric models with the root transform model performing the best across all error metrics and K-S goodness-of-fit test.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"15 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77426624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the HT consumers prefer to participate in the open access partially to meet their base load through open access and peak load through DISCOM supply. Therefore, this paper proposes a bidding strategy to meet the base load through open access by shifting the flexible loads to non-peak hours and estimating the potential savings. The bidding strategy is tested with a case study of the IIT Hyderabad campus in a day ahead market by using the load consumption data of the campus and the market clearing prices from the Indian Energy Exchange to minimize the electricity bill of the IITH campus.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"87 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81087270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is imperative to understand the participation of PLL dynamics on the power system’s small signal stability (SSS). This paper focuses in investigating the interaction of PLL of a grid-connected wind farm with a multi machines power system at different grid strengths. Modal analysis is conducted on modified IEEE 39 benchmark system to study the behavior of low frequency electromechanical oscillations (LFEOs) under the influence of various conditions of grid strengths. It is revealed that, the decreasing grid strength has a remarkable impact on LFEOs, and the modes associated with PLL in such a way that they approach in the vicinity of right half of the complex plane which significantly lessens system’s small signal stability. Another interesting behavior is observed that the super-synchronous operation is the riskiest state in which, even with a small active power output of wind system at weak grid condition, small signal stability reduces drastically.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"47 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87731276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Islanding detection techniques allow for fast detection and corrective action in the face of abnormal events. Current standards specify the operational limits for voltage, frequency, and detection time. Grid codes specify the procedures for disconnection to establish safe network maintenance conditions. Passive and active techniques require voltage, current, and frequency measurements and the definition of thresholds for detection. Operational parameters such as load mismatch and quality factors influence the detection capabilities. Falsepositive triggering due to grid transients can lead to unnecessary disconnection of distributed generation resources. In this paper, we analyze the performance of several islanding detection techniques presented in the literature and propose a modified 9-bus benchmark system to verify the robustness of passive and active methods against false-positive detections upon severe gridside transients. Simulation results attest to the superiority of active methods and raise awareness of the susceptibility of all investigated techniques to false islanding detection.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"32 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89180700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Implementation of DERs contributes to several goals like lowcarbon power generation, improvement in system resiliency, and satisfying overgrown load demand. However, in attaining these goals, it is vital to analyse the interconnection of transmission and distribution systems. It requires the participation of DERs in the Wholesale Electricity Markets (WEM) operated by independent or regional system operators. The integration of DERs at the transmission level is an evolving area of research. Many countries have implemented several DER integration models and regulations for this paradigm. This review summarises the concept of FERC Order No. 2222, which initiated the participation of DERs in WEM, the Framework for DER integration into WEM, the TSO-DSO coordination model, and challenges in this paradigm. However, the increased integration of EVs through uncontrolled charging in distribution system introduces various issues in distribution system, such as system over-loading, increased peak demand, deteriorated voltage profile, and increased losses. In this paper, the centralized framework with multiple objectives of different stakeholders for EV charging is proposed to overcome the noxious impacts of uncontrolled EV charging on distribution network and to motivate the EV user for their participation in smart EV charging. The controlled charging in this paper is studied using electricity price signals and centralized charging control strategy, with the objectives of charging cost minimization, peak-to-average ratio reduction, and load leveling. In this work, an impact of uncontrolled EV charging on distribution network is analyzed and compared with proposed framework. Nevertheless, it can increase if the PV system runs at the global maximum power point peak (MPPP), which is found using global peak finding tools. The multi-use of these tools, however, will decrease the output of PV systems because they push the PV system to run not within its power region during sweeping the I-V curve to locate the global MPP. So, the global peak finding tools must only be used as soon as a PSC happens. Here, an accurate method is outlined for discovering PSCs by watching out the sign of changes in voltage. It declares PSC occurrence when the sign of each successive voltage change remains the same for a defined number of consecutive changes. By incorporating a global MPP searching method with a partial shading condition detection (PSD) method, the PV system can operate at its greatest efficiency under PSC. So, the paper also proposes an integrated algorithm that combines a global MPP (GMPP) method based on Bald Eagle Searching (BES) with the partial shading detection method. The concept has been validated experimentally using a state-of-the-art real-time digital simulator RTDS to assess the GMPP search BES based method under PSCs. According to RTDS results, the algorithm finds the GMPP in all simulated PSC cases without fail.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"2 1","pages":"1-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75609019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In long, interconnected tie lines, low-damping IAOs prevent rated power transfer. Hence IAOs must be identified and sufficiently damped to avoid these situations. Various controllers are available in the literature to dampen IAOs. However, as the operating point varies with time, performance of controller degrades. Hence, considering the operating point uncertainty, designing a wide-area damping controller (WADC) is necessary. This paper proposes a thyristorcontrolled series capacitor (TCSC) assisted WADC, which is a two-stage lead-lag power system stabilizer (PSS). The critical IAOs in interconnected system can vary with changes in operating scenarios. Hence, using the K-means algorithm, different clusters of IAOs are identified with their mean values. Then separate wide-area PSSs are designed for each cluster to improve the damping of their IAOs sets. Finally, the output of each wide area PSS is weighted using Gaussian distribution, i.e., wide area PSSs with high probability are assigned with higher weights, and that with low probability are assigned with lower weights. Finally, efficacy of the proposed methodology is demonstrated on 4-machine, 11-bus system.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"23 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77760503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
