However, the massive penetration of integrated multisources into conventional distribution systems may create several operational problems, such as malfunctioning protection systems. This paper concisely defines the setting for overcurrent protection applied to the CIGRE European (EU) Medium Voltage (MV) benchmark network. The benchmark system is commonly recommended for RSs penetration studies. In this paper, the authors show the calculations and results of the nondirectional and directional overcurrent protection relay in a very educational and detailed way. The definition of the settings considers several operating situations and two short-circuit (SC) types: three-phase and single-line-to-ground. The main contribution of this paper is a well-documented and validated overcurrent protection settings of the CIGR EU MV that can be used for teaching and research purposes.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"45 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76601787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An iterative peer matching procedure is proposed in this paper rather than simultaneous bilateral negotiation between all peers, which would have large overheads, to trade among peers for a bilateral negotiation. Earlier studies have not considered a large power system network for P2P trading with a transaction fee. As of now, many studies have not included the greediness factor for trading between prosumers. In this context, this work provides a bilateral negotiation between all agents as a key component of P2P markets for balancing supply and demand. Prosumers reach an agreement using the negotiation algorithm even if they are unfamiliar with the preference structures of their trading partners at the outset. The greediness factor is used for the prosumer’s selfish behavior, which allows each prosumer to change his bidding strategy. The grid operator can recover losses by applying a fee to each transaction to recover the costs associated with power losses. Their economic surplus rises as a result of the case study by utilizing the greediness factor. Additionally, the non-mediated method of negotiation is used, which decreases the computational complexity and scalability issues.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"70 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72633928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conventional centralized approaches can't handle the effective bidirectional sharing of information and energy within the local distribution network. Local balancing difficulties include using renewable resources efficiently, reducing energy costs regionally and nationally, and increasing prosumer financial rewards. This paper focuses on blockchain solutions for diverse stakeholders to actively participate in energy management and trade, followed by a blockchain use case implementation. The necessity for the cooperation of smart homes/buildings with renewable resources and shiftable loads through intelligent energy management systems (IEMS) is also covered in this paper. The overall conclusion and case study results suggest that this blockchain-based transactive energy platform is practicable in practice and helps improve the financial benefit of individual prosumers, which assures socially optimal distribution system performance.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"15 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73356004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed blockchain framework serves as the ideal platform to support the market operation and settle the payments among the market participants. As a market product, PSRs are provided by the storage owners, who are solely profiting by selling the PSRs, and enable the local market participants (including arbitrageurs, renewable producers, consumers and prosumers) to access the storage. That is, they can book storage in the form of PSRs and dispatch it at a given time aiming to maximize their utility function. Numerical results from case studies show the economic benefits of storage participation in the energy community, demonstrating at the same time the benefits of the proposed PSR allocation mechanism for both the system and the individual market participants.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"26 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83983394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing models use a utility function approach to tackle discomfort which requires further investigation to identify the devices and the required energy needed to be supplied to the device to control the degree of discomfort. This article proposes an approach that explicitly assigns the requirements to individual devices, and the degree of discomfort is controlled by assigning various weights to the discomfort objective. The formulation of DSM problem is in the form of non-cooperative game among the users, and the proximal decomposition algorithm is utilized to solve the formulated game. The condition for the algorithm’s convergence is specified for the formulated problem. Three scenarios are studied to analyze the outcomes of the proposed study. The result shows that with the addition of discomfort as an objective, the system PAR improved, the average energy cost increased, and it does not significantly impact distributed dispatchable generation and energy storage profile.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"28 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85854328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional sizing techniques of PV systems are based on optimizing the economic benefit of rooftop owners with no regard to the impacts on the electrical grid. This paper presents a high-level multi-objective PV sizing model to maximize the rooftop owner’s Net Present Value (NPV) while minimizing the yearly peak demand. The proposed model optimizes the system size, tilt angle, and azimuth angle and is solved using the differential evolution (DE) algorithm. One case study of a residential home in Saudi Arabia was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. The case study results showed that systems that favor maximizing the NPV tend to have smaller system sizes and lower tilt angles. On the other hand, systems that favor minimizing the peak demand tend to prefer larger system sizes and higher tilt angles. The choice of the azimuth angles was consistent across both objectives. Overall, sizing PV systems using the proposed model can result in systems that achieve a positive return for the rooftop owner while minimizing the peak demand by 4.18% compared to approaches that purely optimize the economic benefit of the rooftop owner. The upper-level problem represents the strategic behaviour of the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to maximize their profit. The lower level corresponds to the P2P market clearing problem, where energy hubs operate to minimize cost and strategically exchange energy with each other and the distribution network. The model is transformed into a single-level model using the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions. The proposed model is validated on an integrated 16-bus 33 kV UK generic distribution system (UKGDS) and a 6-node natural gas system, which is used to demonstrate the model’s effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"24 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91138617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper evaluates the accuracy of frequency and damping ratio estimation from three methods for detecting forced oscillations. The Stochastic Subspace Identification method, a spectral method using Welch periodograms, and the self-coherence method. Simulations are performed on a small test network with full and partial, respectively, PMU observability when a forced oscillation is implemented as a sinusoidal load. The results indicate that all three methods are able to detect a forced oscillation with good accuracy, even when it has the same frequency as an inter-area mode. It was also found that the average estimation error increases somewhat when there is only partial PMU observability, and that selection of PMU locations can have an impact on the estimations.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"19 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73210434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HIFs are more difficult to detect than other types of faults because their voltage and current values are not significantly different from those under normal operating conditions. We propose a recurrent neural network (RNN)-based method that can detect events from the temporal behaviour of a current signal, including HIFs and load changes. The method proves to be accurate, distinguishing between HIFs and other waveforms with a high score above 95% on accuracy and Fl-score metrics.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"31 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74489557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several countries have set ambitious EV adoption goals. However, range anxiety, charging time, and charging station availability limit EV adoption. Battery Swapping (BS) technology offers a remedy to the above-mentioned concerns. Depending on the kind of car, BS may cut the time a user spends at the charging station from an hour to only 5 to 10 minutes. The suggestion that batteries be leased instead of sold with EVs may very well catalyze legislation that forces the transportation industry to move away from fossil fuels. However, evidence from several countries shows that the adoption of BS is active and constant when the proper regulations and incentives are in place. With a study on EV adoption and BS policies in other countries, it may be possible to evaluate the shortcomings of present practices and efforts to promote BS in India. The paper looks at India’s and other countries’ EV BS policies in this context. It contrasts the methods used in India and other countries in terms of the BS infrastructure needs, laws, and financial incentives to promote the adoption of battery-swappable EVs.","PeriodicalId":69792,"journal":{"name":"中东研究","volume":"67 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82664590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
