The polymer background significantly affects the phase delay of the propagating THz signal inside the sample, which makes the polymer matrix contribute to the overall dielectric response of the mixture sample to the probing THz waves. The system is based on a resonant-tunneling-diode (RTD) oscillator emitting at 660 GHz and modulated at 4.5 GHz. The axial distance measurement relies on determining the phase of the demodulated signal by means of an IQ mixer. Nb5N6 film is a THz sensitive material and has a significant prospect in THz detection. We use this material to fabricate an antenna coupled microbolometer THz detector array at room temperature, and integrated 180 nm CMOS process readout circuit. The THz camera has a resolution of 32×32, pixel size of 250×250 μm, frame rate of 30, working range is 0.25-1 THz. Extremely confined photonic mode below a critical length-scale can introduce a large in-plane wave vector and excite a continuum of high momentum matter resonances.
