The effects of the slightly up-tapered sections in an improved multi-section gyrotron cavity on the resonant frequency and the quality factor are investigated in detail. In an optimized multi-section gyrotron cavity, the quality factor for all axial modes can maintain an order of magnitude in the cold cavity approximation, it means that the operating current for all axial modes can keep an order of magnitude. A resonator-based gyrotron oscillator can play dual functions: gyromonotron and reflected-type gyro-BWO corresponding to forward-wave and backward-wave operation. the field profile of the axial mode and beam-wave interaction efficiency of the gyromonotron and the reflected-type gyro-BWO are dramatically different from each other. And the gyromonotron state can switch to the reflected-type gyro-BWO state by means of increasing the operating magnetic field. A 263GHz frequency-tunable gyrotron at the fundamental cyclotron harmonic for the 400MHz DNP/NMR spectroscopy and a 527GHz frequency-tunable gyrotron at the second cyclotron harmonic for the 800MHz DNP/NMR spectroscopy are experimentally investigated.","PeriodicalId":6852,"journal":{"name":"2021 46th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz)","volume":"64 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75213343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 3D human model 6 m from the transmitter (TX) is thus employed to impose blockage in a line-of-sight (LoS) environment with vertically polarized horn antennas possessing divergent beams. Being in motion, the channels are captured by the receivers (RX) at 9 m and 12 m. Both the TX and RX antennas possess a gain of 25.45 dBi at 300 GHz. The blockage provoked by different phases in the total walking cycle (i.e., start position, swing phase, and step) is investigated with the help of ray-tracing simulations. Moreover, keeping in account the beam spot size a walking path of 1 m and 2 m are considered in the study. The results bring out into open that the blockage effect is partially greater when the human is moving in contrast to static phases.","PeriodicalId":6852,"journal":{"name":"2021 46th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz)","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74899312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both mixers utilize a sub-micron size Schottky diode fabricated with circuit elements on a suspended 2 µm-thick GaAs stripline circuit, and then assembled in a waveguide split-block. The diode is closely integrated with the RF-waveguide, resulting in an electrically small and compact circuit. For the 3.5-THz, ×6-harmonic mixer, a conversion loss of about 60 dB was measured at an intermediate frequency (IF) of 200 MHz. The predicted mixer performance versus dc bias agrees well with the measurements. Based on these results, the preliminary design and simulation results of a 4.7-THz, ×8-harmonic mixer, are presented.","PeriodicalId":6852,"journal":{"name":"2021 46th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz)","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72999793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
