Our previous work introduced a seamless wearable system consisting of transmit and receive loops that was able to detect changes in synovial fluid build-up via transmission coefficient $boldsymbol{(mathrm{S}_{21})}$ measurements. The system relied on magnitude and phase measurements conducted each at different frequencies. This work simplifies the previous design by enabling monitoring of both magnitude and phase at a single frequency. Another improvement is the elimination of any lumped elements attached to the loops to ease the wearable implementation. Our studies provide an optimal design at 1485.2 MHz that is robust to frequency fluctuations within a bandwidth of 30 MHz. Key performance metrics are identified and compared for magnitude-Iphase-only designs vs. the proposed combined approach.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"16 1","pages":"137-138"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81099618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resonator combines the closed cavity with the antenna. According to the hole coupling theory, the resonant mode in the cavity can be converted into the propagation mode of the antenna. After the plasma is loaded, the reflection coefficient of the antenna will be affected, thereby disturbing the resonance mode in the cavity. In view of the phenomenon, a measurement for the plasma electron density ($N_{e}$) based on resonance theory will be realized.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"42 1","pages":"843-844"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78560065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tumors in the rats were produced by injecting N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea chemical into their mammary pad. The pathology assessment results demonstrated the presence of fibro-fatty tissue adjacent to cancer in the excised tumor. THz imaging results show significant differentiation between these tissue types. Thus, the proposed rat breast tumor model demonstrated a potential to obtain cancerous tissues closely mimicking human breast tumors.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"41 1","pages":"585-586"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76253370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it has been criticized for its inefficiency in terms of complexity and cost when used for vital sign detection. Here, we utilize a low-cost novel IR radar chip for non-contact vital-sign sensing that could be used for either single or multiple subjects' vital sign detection. The approach uses a commercial low cost 8 GHz IR-UWB Doppler radar chip with a combination of arctangent demodulation (AD) and Short-Time State-Space Method (ST-SSM) algorithms to successfully and accurately extract the phase variation signals to estimate the respiration rate and heart rate of a subject. Precise range information of the scene is utilized to clearly discern multiple targets, making it possible to detect vital signs multiple targets within the few cm range resolution. The proposed method can accurately operate in real time and it is feasible to be used for patients' health tracking, elderly care, emergency surveillance, and infant sleep apnea monitoring as well.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"60 1","pages":"135-136"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77772489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design is suitable for 5G new radio access networks (n-RNA) applications. It comprises of 2-elements frequency reconfigurable (FR) and 2-elements ultra-wide-band (UWB) MIMO antenna developed on the same substrate. The dual-band FR antenna covers the frequency bands from 1.36-3.19 and 3.6-5.6 GHz while UWB operates over a frequency bands from 1.27-4.415 GHz. Continuous frequency sweep is achieved over both bands using a single varactor diode. The impedance surface realization is based on the Bessel filter design methodology. The antenna element consists of four sequentially rotated patches fed by a high-order mode cavity to reduce the dielectric loss in the feeding network. Right-hand circular polarization(RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization(LHCP) are achieved by adopting a coupler and a phase shifter between the two input ports. The measured and simulated results agree well, showing its good performance of high gain and wide impedance bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"23 1","pages":"1565-1566"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79873918","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
