Abstract

The paper presents pencil beams which are optimum in $L_{1}$-sense. A convex optimization program for their design is provided. The presented pencil beams exhibit maximum sidelobe level of approximately −21 dB for all array sizes and the lobes that monotonically decrease as the azimuth angle increases.
