Conventional methods require many probes connected to various parts of the human body, as well as clinical environments for the measurements. Therefore, noncontact systems have recently attracted attention. In this paper, an efficient noncontact method for the monitoring of respiratory rate during sleep by using wireless radio signals, is proposed. The proposed non-contact system can successfully separate body movements (turnovers), breath holding (apnea) and breathing cases. In this paper, the frequency estimation algorithm, Quinn and Fernandes (QF) method is firstly adapted and used for the respiratory rate estimation. It is shown with the experiments conducted compatible with real-world settings and measurements that the QF method is robust to poor initial estimates, is effective for different sleeping postures and distances, and outperforms the existing benchmark estimation methods.","PeriodicalId":6611,"journal":{"name":"2019 11th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"37 1","pages":"963-967"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90864839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work is an extension of the paper Yelkenci [1] to the case of a time-harmonic line source illumination. The numerical data needed for the implementation of the inverse problem are supplied artificially by the approximate numerical solution of the corresponding direct scattering problem. In Part–1, the forward problem is addressed. Part–2 will consider the inverse problem.","PeriodicalId":6611,"journal":{"name":"2019 11th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"15 1","pages":"623-627"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91153523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As far as we know, PMI (Pointwise Mutual Information) is the first time applied in order to determine representative words in the literature. A previously developed system is revised to experiment PMI effect on the selection of representative words additionally. Firstly, the meaningful words of the seed document/s are determined by Helmholtz Principle. Then, PMI value is calculated for each of the meaningful words. Meaningful words are sorted by using the total PMI value in decreasing order. Finally, the top n meaningful words are added to the dictionary, where n is experimentally worked. Hash similarity is used to measure the performance of the dictionary. PMI enhances the dictionary quality for all n value. The dictionary hash similarity increases from 40.46% up to 68.75% for the best n value in the experiments.","PeriodicalId":6611,"journal":{"name":"2019 11th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"235 1","pages":"911-915"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82755173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Connection of these units into distribution networks provides several benefits to the utilities and customers. However, their connection to the main network creates several difficulties from the protection and control point of views, since they converts the radial distribution networks into microgrids. In order to overcome these problems, the protection and control schemes need to be reconsidered and improved. One of these improved schemes is the adaptive protection. In this approach, settings of overcurrent relays are automatically updated as the system conditions change. This paper deals with an adaptive protection scheme, which requires off-line analysis and reestimation of setting values for every network operation topology. Computer simulation studies used to analyze the performance of the proposed adaptive approach. These studies have shown that an adaptive setting procedure for over current relays is definitely required for a reliable protection and coordination of multi-source microgrids.","PeriodicalId":6611,"journal":{"name":"2019 11th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"27 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82306310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While measuring the maximum output pressure of the heart, namely systolic, the blood flow is cut with the pressure exerted by the cuff, which may discomfort the patient. To avoid this discomfort, we propose a contactless and cuffless blood pressure measurement system (CBPS) of estimating the blood pressure using non-contact capacitively coupled ECG electrodes and a commercial pulse sensor together with an analog signal acquisition circuitry and a LabVIEW program which calculates the systolic and diastolic pressures from the pulse transit time (PTT). Moreover, non-contact ECG electrodes do not need conductive gel, and the CBPS provides almost instant BP results. These features of the CBPS enable continuous recording of the blood pressure together with the ECG signals in a holter device utilizing contactless electrodes.","PeriodicalId":6611,"journal":{"name":"2019 11th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"445-448"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89065668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the features extracted from audio recordings of a given telephone conversation, appropriate one-class support vector machine, isolation forest, and multivariate Gaussian models are trained, evaluated and compared in order to determine the best use case. The labeled data used in the experiments was obtained from a real call center and the results obtained indicate that the system is usable in a real-world scenario. These radiations bring about some critical problems which are needed to be handled such as efficiency and powerloss. In order to solve these problems, different optimization techniques have been applied recently. However, the frequency set was not used as an optimization parameter in these studies and the effect of frequency on these quantities is of interest. In this work, the switching frequency is proposed as a new parameter to optimize the radiation characteristic of nonuniform time modulated arrays (NTMA). It is shown via comparative examples that the switching frequency can be used as another parameter to achieve the desired radiation criteria.","PeriodicalId":6611,"journal":{"name":"2019 11th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"408 1","pages":"664-668"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77746824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is observed that a neural network implementation is highly sensitive to selection of features and optimization parameters such as learning rate. A methodology to overcome the difficulties of neural network implementations to financial time series is proposed in the paper. Several feature selection methods are employed to obtain a subset of the features that can be used in the training of any classification algorithm. The difficulties and benefits of using an ensemble of neural networks instead of a single neural network are also studied. Results have shown that the use of neural network ensembles yields promising results.
