The proposed model couples shock filter and crease enhancement diffusion (CED) filter which uses the crease measurement to depict vascular structure. The experiments with synthetic and real images show this filter outperforms the shock filter and CED filter.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"294 1","pages":"2466-2468"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77174068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The triboelectric dry beneficiation can work effectively for ultrafine coal particles of <200 mesh, and provide a unique opportunity for treating pulverized coal in power plants. High grade steam coal with low ash, low sulphur and high heat value can be obtained by this process, and then the pollution will be controlled before coal fired. Mineral impurities and coal matrixes can be tribocharged differently, and thus can be separated when an external electrostatic field is applied. This is implemented in triboelectric beneficiation. As a dry process, triboelectric separation has many advantages over traditional wet processes, notably the ability to operate in areas where water resources are scarce, and no need for dewatering. Triboelectric dry beneficiation well adapts to the large-scale pithead power station, especially in arid northwest area where coal resources are abundant. Additionally, triboelectric dry beneficiation has great potential to produce ultra-low ash coal for injection metallurgy and yielding such material of coal-based carbon as high-quality active carbon, etc.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"67 1","pages":"3923-3926"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81327906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It showed that quinoline could be degraded effectively by this process. In the irradiation lights of the two main wavelengths, 185 nm was the main effective one to degrade the substrate. The degradation rate became faster with the increasing of the temperature and the electric power of the mercury light. O2 played an important role in the degradation progress. However, the initial pH of the solution did not impact the degradation rate obviously.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"23 1","pages":"3051-3055"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81645265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system included a three-step particulates separation device, fluidized bed reactors (FBR), UV treatment and cooling. Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) were raised from initial mean weight 4.9 plusmn 0.6g to final mean weight 35.8 plusmn 14.6g after 140 days of growth. The specific growth rate was between 1.57 and 2.22 per day. Feed waste and excrement were removed by a three-step solids separation device. The sedimentation basin, hydrocyclone and foam fractionator showed 68.0%, 1.3% and 30.7% suspended solids removal efficiency, respectively, based on the influent and effluent concentrations. The measured solids concentrations in the fish tank were usually less than 8.24 mg/L. After fluidized bed biofilter maturation, the maximum TAN removal rate (Rmax) was 1666.7 mgNH4-N/m2/d and half saturation constant (Ks) was 1.67.The concentration of NH4-N in the rearing water was variable cyclic fluctuation with lower than 0.505 mg/L. The concentration of NO2-N was controlled of lower than 0.208 mg/L. Based on these results, the pilot-scale recirculating aquaculture system remained good water quality for Japanese flounder production.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"34 1","pages":"3300-3303"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82360369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the methods of CFS diagnosis up to now are very elementary. This paper tries to establish a CFS evaluation model based on human body's vital signals, especially ECG. Firstly, an intelligent garment oriented physiological signal capturing and processing platform is proposed. Then, a multi-class SVM-based strategy to render a diagnosis between various degrees of CFS is constructed. Based on the ISNI-DHU CFS database we set up, the results show that the diagnosis model achieve high classification accuracy, at 97.4% of average accuracy, and heartbeat parameters can be effectively used to evaluation of CFS.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"26 1","pages":"1947-1950"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78972789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to investigate the coding details in time-frequency domain for bursting spikes using wavelet analysis, which will give a combinative neural code from both time and frequency domains. Data in this study is two types of the spikes: bursting and spiking simulatied from Chay model via 4-order R-K algorithm under different tasking conditions. The interspike intervals (ISI) are obtained through the spike series used for the neural coding. Mexican Hat ('mexh') wavelet is selected as mother wavelet used in this study. Neural coding of bursting under a 5-scale decomposition is performed and compared to that from temporal coding. The results of this study have demonstrated that time-frequency coding might be a more useful approach, and provide more details to neural coding for the bursting spikes than rate coding and temporal coding.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"21 1","pages":"1504-1506"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76511426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The filterability of sludge suspension in both bioreactors were investigated and compared by dead-end filtration. Several aspects of sludge suspension such as filtration resistance, particle size and fractionation were discussed. During long-term operation the filtration resistances rose gradually in the early stage (about 100 days) and then increased rapidly. The granulometric analysis revealed that the mean particle size of sludge suspension of HMBR decreased more sharply than that of MBR Dead-end filtrations experiments indicated that the resistance increasing rates of three portions of sludge suspension were in following reducing order: supernatant, dissolved organics, microbial floes. Compared to MBR HMBR was efficient in controlling membrane fouling.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"25 1","pages":"3287-3291"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87942057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The investigation was carried out by sequencing ribosome DNA gene internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) sequences. The ITS1 sequence of C. sinensis obtained in this research ranged from 564 to 595 nucleotides in length respectively. 15 haplotypes were identified from 45 individual in 9 populations, Haplotype (gene) diversity Hd=0.965, Nucleotide diversity Pi=0.0312 and the Theta (per site) Eta=0.0294. The alignment sequence containing 607 sites were constant with 58 sites being polymorphism (excluding sites with gaps / missing data). The pairwise distance matrix for the determination of differentiation was produced following the method of Hasegawa, et al (1985) to evaluate the ratios of transition/transversion in nucleotides. The NJ trees were presented the phylogenetic of populations separated as two basic clades; the basic clade was corresponding to the populations from the China Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, and the Dong Sea(northern and middle parts of the Sea of China), the second clade contained the populations from the South China Sea and the Japan Sea, the genetic differentiation between two clades was significant. After using the AMOVA program, the result show that the genetic variation were high from populations and groups, but the most Source of genetic variation were from among groups (different Chinese sea). The reasons for the differentiation of populations for C.sinensis were also discussed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"737-742"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86996400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
