Ruban","doi":"10.1109/OMEE.2012.6464791","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/OMEE.2012.6464791","url":null,"abstract":"X-ray diffraction, BET measurements, scanning electron and optical microscopy were used to analyze the properties variation of hydrothermal nanocrystalline powder with a composition 90 wt% Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>-10 wt%ZrO<inf>2</inf> (CeO<inf>2</inf>, Y<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>) after thermal treatment in the temperature range 400–1300 °C. The composition of the ZrO<inf>2</inf>-based solid solution was (mol %) 90ZrO<inf>2</inf>-8CeO<inf>2</inf>-2Y<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>. It was found that α-Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> is formed at 850 °C. Phase transformation F-ZrO<inf>2</inf>⇆T-ZrO<inf>2</inf> occurred at 1000 °C. Produced powder was sintered at 1300 °C. The present investigation demonstrates that heat treatment of composite nanocrystalline powders gives rise to complex processes. Yukselici","doi":"10.1109/OMEE.2012.6464794","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/OMEE.2012.6464794","url":null,"abstract":"CdTe nanocrystals embedded in matrixes such as, glass, plastic and, aqueous solution have been investigated extensively due to their potential applications in nonlinear optical devices, biotechnology and medicine. When the size of bulk semiconductor is reduced to nanometer scales, the crystal gains new optical and electronic properties. Energy levels are quantized as in atoms and the energy difference between levels widens with the inverse of the size squared. CdTe nanocrystals were grown in glass by solid-state phase precipitation at the above glass transition temperature. A size dependent blue shift in the asymptotic absorption edge was observed in optical absorption spectra. The crystalline composition was studied by Resonant Raman spectroscopy. The width of the optical absorption tail at long wavelengths depends on the spread of electron energy levels within the structure, called the Urbach energy, which was calculated depending on size. UV-vis absorption spectra were investigated in 2.4–6.0 eV region and revealed that compared with pure TiO<inf>2</inf> the presence of manganese oxides results in an increase of the absorption intensity and significant red shift of the TMMO absorption edge. Photocatalytic activity of pure TiO<inf>2</inf>, Mn<sup>2+</sup> doped TiO<inf>2</inf> and TMMO during the photocatalytic decomposition of the safranine dye under UV irradiation was studied. The design of interferometer, measurement procedures, and data processing are described in detail. Potentials of the present technique are tested on the example of widely used optical borosilicate glass BK7. The enthalpies of reaction La<inf>2−x</inf>Sr<inf>x</inf>CuO<inf>4−δ</inf> with 1 N hydrochloric acid were measured in hermetic swinging isoperibolic calorimeter at 298.15 K. The Gibbs energies were assessed from thermochemical data. The broad luminescence bands with maxima at 425 and 530 nm correspond to CaWO<inf>4</inf> and CaMoO<inf>4</inf> crystals, respectively.
