However, motherhood manifests itself more as split and disconnection than affection and comfort in this novel. From the perspective of the ethic of care, we will find that motherhood is rather complicated and fraught with conflicts. The onus of parenthood care has traditionally fallen on the mother. The reality is that mother care is not as guaranteed and unconditional as readers used to believe. The performance of mother care is actually subject to many hindrances even though the mother may entertain a profound love towards her child. In this story, we may find that racial oppression, financial hardship, emotional burden, children’s depressing response, etc., all exemplify these hindrances. Lack of care, thus, can lead to the disconnection and estrangement between mother and child. The study indicates that there is a consensus on the emergence, developmental trajectory, contributing factors of metaphoric competence, and the functions of child metaphor. However, several aspects remain underexplored, including the characteristics and developmental tendencies of metaphor production, the representation and processing mechanisms of various abstract concepts, and the rhetorical features in children’s written language. Additionally, there is a gap between the findings of international research and the verified results in the Chinese context. This study suggests that future research hotspots may include investigating the characteristics of metaphors produced by Chinese children of all ages, the creative use of language in L1 classroom discourse, and the cultivation of metaphorical ability. Cognitive psychology considers “attention” as the focus of mental activity and consciousness on an object. People engage their senses and memory to actively process the object in front of them. Theories of second language acquisition suggest that a large amount of input is the basis for language acquisition. At the same time, what is actively noticed by the learner can be effectively internalized. Thus, “attention” is also a non-linguistic factor that plays a significant role in language acquisition. The subjunctive mood is a major challenge in the teaching of English grammar. Generally speaking, the verbs in a sentence are used to distinguish between subjunctive and declarative sentences. In this paper, experimental utterances were written based on previous research by using verbs that are easy to cause ambiguity and confusion, and then set up the reinforced and non-reinforced attention conditions with different levels of “attention” to investigate whether there are different results and effects on subjects’ comprehension of sentences under different levels of “attention” conditions. Under the different levels of “attention”, the subjects were examined to see whether there were different results in comprehension of the sentences and the impact of the different levels of “attention”. It was found that subjects in the reinforced “attention” condition comprehended sentences better, answered questions faster, and answered questions more correctly than subjects in the non-reinforced condition. ChatGPT is compared with machine-aided translation tools like Google Translate, Microsoft Translate, Youdao Translate, and Baidu Translate. Data were collected based on accuracy of terminologies in the fields of economy, politics, and arts. This study found that ChatGPT translation has more contextual understanding that makes the generative translation more accurate and more relevant to specific fields. It analyzes and discusses how the translator maximizes translation effect between the source language and the target language, so as to enhance the readability of documentary subtitles and promote the spread of traditional Chinese culture. The findings are as follows: Firstly, in the translation process, the frame operations used by the translator include frame correspondence, intra-frame operations, frame replacement, frame perspective shift and frame transplantation. Secondly, cultural documentaries are full of culture-loaded words, for which the translator usually uses frame transplantation. Thirdly, due to the instantaneous nature of subtitles, intra-frame operations and frame replacement are applied in terms of cultural background of the target language audience.
