Soybeans and sweet potatoes have good antioxidants and can be developed as healthy foods for people with diabetes. Soybeans and sweet potatoes are processed into Soy-yoghurt. This study aims to determine the potential of soy yogurt as an antidiabetic in experimental animals, Rattus norvegicus induced by hyperglycemia, using Streptozotocin. This study used a experiment design with a total of 40 experimental animals. The research was conducted at the Medica Farma Husada Polytechnic Laboratory, Mataram, in 2022. The experimental animals that Streptozotocin (STZ) induced were then given Soy-yogurt orally at 3 ml and 3.5 ml doses. Experimental animals' Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) levels were measured weekly using a Glucometer, while body weight (BW) was measured every three days. The results obtained were then analyzed statistically using the ANOVA test. The test results showed that there was a significant difference in blood sugar levels (p<0,05) in fasting given soy but no difference in BW (p>0,05). This study concludes that the provision of soybeans can affect the level of FBG of the experimental animals but does not affect the BW of the experimental animals.","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42168517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increased consumption of foods substantial in fiber and antioxidants, such as sorghum, can help people with diabetes manage their lipid profiles and improve insulin sensitivity. The study aimed to evaluate how sorghum flour affected diabetic rats' plasma atherosclerosis index (IAP) score and blood lipid profile. A randomized control design was used for the research's experimental methodology. In 2019, the study was carried out at P3G Laboratory UGM. 18 male Wistar rats served as the subjects and were separated into three groups: treatment (P) (5 g/mouse/day for 28 days), positive control (K+), and negative control of sorghum flour (K-). By administering nicotinamide and streptozotocin (STZ), the DM rat model was created (NA). The GPO-PAP method was used to measure TG levels. Total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and high-density lipoprotein were all measured using CHOD-PAP. The log (TG/HDL) ratio (IAP) calculated the plasma atherosclerosis index. Paired T-tests, Wilcoxon, Anova, and Kruskal-Wallis, were used to evaluate the data. According to the findings, there were significant changes in the groups' baseline and post-intervention levels of total cholesterol (p=0,003), triglycerides (p=0,002), low-density lipoprotein (p=0,003), high-density lipoprotein (p=0,002), and IAP (p=0,001). Iron tablet supplementation is used to manage anemia, but this program has not been successful because of low compliance from forgetfulness. The use of a reminder can increase the amount of iron pill consumption. This study aimed to determine how much iron pill ingestion was impacted by the reminder box. This kind of research uses a post-test-only control group, which has a quasi-experimental design. Sixty respondents were divided into 30 intervention groups and 30 control groups. The intervention group received iron tablets in a box marked with the day, date, and time as a reminder to take their prescription, while the control group received theirs in plastic. Both groups were observed for 30 days, recording their observations on a monitoring form. An impartial t-test was utilized in the data analysis. The average amount of iron tablets ingested did not differ between the intervention and control groups (p= 0,417), although the intervention group consumed more than the average amount. Anemia was caused by low nutrition intake, high intake of inhibitors, and low adherence to an iron tablet. Therefore, there should be new education methods to increase knowledge and attitudes toward anemia prevention during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the effect of education with audio podcast media about anemia on knowledge and attitudes. We conducted a quasi-experimental with a control group design on 68 female adolescents in 4 State Senior High School, Central Jakarta. We divided subjects into two groups, the podcast group as an intervention group and the flyer group as a control group. The intervention was conducted in four phases over two weeks period. Pretests and posttests were collected using an online questionnaire shared through a messaging platform. Posttests were conducted twice, after the intervention and two weeks after the intervention. We analyzed data using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney test with α= 0,05. The results showed there was an increase in knowledge (p= 0,000) and attitude (p= 0,036) scores in the audio podcast group, but for the flyer group, the significant increase was only in knowledge scores (p= 0,000). However, there was no difference increase in both methods (p>0,05). The podcast was significantly more effective in increasing knowledge (p= 0,007) than flyers, but not for attitudes (p= 0,389).
