However, the implementation of the nutritionist's role in the athlete training center was still lacking. The importance of nutritionist existence ought to be assessed to explore the perception of athletes and coaches. Qualitative approach was used to analyze focus group discussions on 15 athletes and 10 coaches located in 3 cities in Indonesia (Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Malang). Results, the acceptance of the food in the training center are satisfactory even though some still eat out. More knowledge concerning nutrition, performance, and posture are obtained from in-class education, brochure, personal counselling, and small talk by the presence of nutritionists. Conclusion, athletes and coaches perceive that nutritionists are urgently necessary for optimum nutrition support to enhance sports performance.","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136239583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This number is concerning. Several programs offering supplementary nutrition for children in hot areas have been conducted. However, the percentage is decreasing too slowly. It is unclear why those programs were ineffective. The study aims to explore the cause of stunting in children aged 25-59 months in the Kota Sigli Sub-district, Pidie Regency, Aceh, Indonesia. Qualitative research was conducted on January 2022 using ethnographic tools. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with eight (8) mothers of stunted children, and informal interviews with midwives. Result, the findings show that there are various factors that may influence the incidence of stunting in children: failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding, inappropriate complementary feeding, and problems with hygiene and sanitation that affect children’s health. In conclusion, this calls for an integrated approach to engaging the Indonesian government, parents, and communities in overcoming the root of the stunting problem: poverty.Keywords: ","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45051196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our study aims to investigate people's spending on food and how their daily expenses on cigarettes impact diet quality. We conducted a cross-sectional online survey in April, 2020 and interviews through social media. There were 180 subjects followed in this study. Analysis was conducted using chi-square. It is found that even though our subjects able to access food but their diet quality to have whole food of four food group daily is not adequate. There is significant association between food expenses on whole food and processed food to diet quality (p<0,001). While there is no significant association between smoking behaviours to diet quality (p=0,684) but the percentage of those who smoke 1 to 3 cigarettes and more than 3 cigarettes daily is larger to have poor diet quality rather than people who do not smoke at all. This study concluded household's expenses for cigarettes and food during the COVID-19 pandemic were able to explain whether diet quality is poor or good. The study suggests the government needs to impose smoking restrictions as part of COVID-19 prevention and reassure people's accessibility to nutritious food during this pandemic.","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46710312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plants with strong antioxidant activity have previously been discovered to be effective therapy for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. A total of 12 English articles were reviewed. Black rice bran, in its raw extract form, modulate the activity of enzymes, hormones, and molecular signaling related to glucose homeostasis in the body. Black rice bran increases the defense of pancreatic β cells against apoptosis. Bioactive substances in black rice bran such as anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, γ-oryzanol regulate diabetes-related molecular signaling which ultimately leads to improvement in glucose levels, insulin levels, restoration and protection of pancreatic β cells against apoptosis. These bioactive substances are also possible in suppressing oxidative stress, increasing antioxidant status and decreasing inflammation which is a common condition in diabetes. The conclusion of this literature review was black rice bran has the potential to have an antidiabetic effect through various mechanisms, in which this effect is possible due to the bioactive substances contained in it.","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43662296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, malnutrition can worsen the infection in all groups, including children. The risk of being infected was higher in the malnutrition group than in the well-nourished one. This article aimed to review the risk of malnutrition and possibly related factors in children during the pandemic. This article used the literature review method and was conducted by the initial 2022 from several countries. The object included in the analysis was children's health and nutrition related. The source of articles highlighted the occurrence of malnutrition in children. The source of articles was from PubMed and Cochrane Library, which resulted in 21 eligible papers. The result of the study found that the identified possible factors are self-isolation, physical activity, dietary patterns, nutrient shortage, and socioeconomic factors. There was a shift in dietary patterns among children during the COVID-19 pandemic due to several factors. Those are the scarcity of food sources and compensation for the lockdown, and those findings confirmed the possibility of under- and overnutrition among children. In low-middle income countries (LMICs), the risk of malnutrition problems in this pandemic has heightened the magnitude of the public health problem. The mitigation program should overcome the existing problem to minimize the adverse effect of malnutrition among children.","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48747364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in Indonesia, only 1,4% adhere to taking WIFAS. This study aimed to discover the factors related to adolescent girls’ adherence to consuming WIFAS in East Kalimantan. The design of this study was cross-sectional, using a purposive sampling technique to find a sample of 825 adolescent girls. The research location was the East Kalimantan Provincial Health Office from November 15 to December 15, 2021. The analytical method uses the Chi-Square test and binary logistic regression test. The results showed that the level of adherence to the consumption of iron folic acid for adolescents girl was 17,6%. The factors related to the adherence of adolescent girls in consuming WIFAS in East Kalimantan were the area of residence (p=0,023), hemoglobin check (р=0,0001), access to information on iron-folic acid (p=0,014), received/purchased iron-folic acid (p=0,000), knowledge (p=0,010) and the use of the Cegah Anemia Remaja Indonesia (CERIA) application (р=0,0001). Based on reg log analysis, factors such as having received/purchased iron WIFAS, Hb checks, knowledge, and use of the CERIA application were associated with adolescent girls’ adherence to WIFAS. In conclusion, adolescent girls with regular WIFAS consumption were easier to get WIFA, check Hb, have good knowledge and use the CERIA application. These findings suggest the need to carry out hemoglobin checks on adolescent girls, increase the availability of WIFAS and socialize the use of the CERIA app.","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47636674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and nutritional adequacy level of pregnant women in the third trimester with pregnancy outcomes, namely maternal fasting blood glucose levels, blood pressure and amniotic fluid volume, and baby's birth weight and length. An observational study on a cohort was conducted on 34 pregnant women in their third trimester and followed until delivery in the Ciampea sub-district, Bogor, Indonesia. The data were processed through descriptive analysis for each variable. Bivariate tests between the predictor and outcome variables were performed using Pearson's correlation and Multiple Regression at 95% CI. Based on multiple regression analysis, we found that the samples' fasting blood glucose in the third trimester was predicted to be 36,9% positively affected by pre-pregnancy body mass index (b= 2,521; p= 0,009) and total physical activity during the third trimester (b= 0,055; p= 0,006). In conclusion, the nutritional adequacy level of macronutrients in the third trimester has not yet significantly affected pregnancy outcomes in this study. It is suggested that pregnant women should avoid prolonged sedentary activity and increase appropriate exercise to achieve maternal health and improve birth outcomes.","PeriodicalId":56201,"journal":{"name":"AcTion Aceh Nutrition Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45147208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
