L’echantillonnage representatif (Laplace 1814) est une technique qui permet d’examiner des corpus plus reduits, et ainsi plus abordables, et d’en generaliser les resultats a un cadre d’echantillonnage plus large. Or, un echantillon n’est pas pertinent a une hypothese s’il n’est pas tire d’un cadre d’echantillonnage qui soit lui-meme pertinent a l’hypothese.Dans mon projet doctoral (Grieve-Smith 2009) j’ai employe le corpus FRANTEXT (CNRTL 2018) pour tester l’hypothese selon laquelle l’extension analogique d’une construction depend de sa frequence de type (Bybee 1995). J’ai compare les textes theâtraux dans FRANTEXT pour les annees 1800-1815 avec un nouveau Corpus de la Scene Parisienne, un echantillon tire du catalogue de Wicks (1950 et seq.). Dans ce nouveau corpus, les negations de phrase declarative se forment avec ne … pas dans 73,9 % des instances, tandis que dans FRANTEXT elles ne se forment avec ne … pas que dans 50,5 % des occurrences, une difference qui montre un biais en faveur de la langue litteraire dans FRANTEXT. Pour une evaluation adequate des theories basees sur l’usage concernant le changement linguistique, il faudra un corpus contenant des textes representatifs de la langue sur un siecle au minimum.","PeriodicalId":53774,"journal":{"name":"CogniTextes","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42072055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many linguists, typically those with a ‘usage-based’ orientation, assert that introspective data, unlike corpus-derived data, is of little relevance to the construction of the correct theory of language. This paper challenges that view, arguing that introspective data and corpus-derived data do not lead to different conclusions about the nature of linguistic theory.","PeriodicalId":53774,"journal":{"name":"CogniTextes","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44785581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

La premiere partie expose le contexte theorique qui entourait Fauconnier, et le type de problemes que son nouvel outil, les espaces mentaux, etait appele a resoudre. Des questions relatives a l’identite referentielle et a la presupposition avaient ete mises en exergue, notamment par les semanticiens generativistes ; les espaces mentaux apparurent comme un outil flexible permettant de les traiter. Dans la periode qui suivit, la perspective fut elargie et en vint a embrasser des questions qui, dans d’autres approches, etaient liees aux notions d’analogie et de cadre et metaphore conceptuels. La theorie de l’amalgame conceptuel absorba pour ainsi dire son ainee, et prit de plus en plus le caractere d’une theorie generale de la cognition humaine et de la creativite. La formation et la nature de cette theorie, qui fut l’œuvre commune de Fauconnier et Turner, et les sources dont elle tira profit, sont le sujet de la seconde partie. En conclusion, l’histoire des espaces mentaux et de l’amalgame conceptuel reflete une evolution que l’on rencontre chez des linguistes affilies a la linguistique cognitive. Sur le plan linguistique, elle a tisse des liens avec des approches qui mettent au premier plan la fusion de constructions morphosyntaxiques, que ces approches soient d’origine recente ou plus lointaine.","PeriodicalId":53774,"journal":{"name":"CogniTextes","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46927627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Depuis un peu plus d’une dizaine d’annees, diverses recherches ont montre que ces ressources incluaient des structures textuelles qui n’entraient pas dans le champ de la phraseologie au sens strict, d’ou la proposition d’etendre le domaine de celle-ci (Legallois & Tutin 2013). Longree & Mellet (2013) ont montre que ces structures textuelles et les formes phraseologiques pouvaient l’une et l’autre etre decrites comme les occurrences d’une nouvelle unite linguistique, le motif. On s’interesse ici aux modes de stabilisation, de memorisation et de reconnaissance des motifs textuels, a travers une double approche : d’abord par le biais d’une experience de psychologie cognitive basee sur l’effet d’amorcage semantique, ensuite par une etude statistique cooccurrentielle en corpus. Les objets choisis pour l’etude sont des motifs textuels latins composes de trois elements lexicaux. La convergence remarquable des resultats de l’etude experimentale et du traitement quantitatif des donnees textuelles apporte un enrichissement original et tres prometteur aux modeles qui tentent de rendre compte du processus d’association semantique.","PeriodicalId":53774,"journal":{"name":"CogniTextes","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48766041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Construction Grammar Approach to Genre 体裁的构式语法研究

Bergs","doi":"10.4000/COGNITEXTES.1032","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4000/COGNITEXTES.1032","url":null,"abstract":"This paper describes and analyses text types and genres from a Construction Grammar point of view. In doing so, it pursues a twofold aim: on the one hand, it seeks to offer a new and cognitively motivated approach to the perception and production of different genres, including their mental entrenchment and the development of new genre types. On the other hand, it wants to determine to what extent the principles of Construction Grammar can be used at a linguistic macro-level, beyond the single sentence. It will be argued that a Construction Grammar approach, though probably closely connected to the textlinguistic traditions of the 1970s and 1980s, is particularly suited to provide a fresh look at the question of genre since it does not per se prioritize language, discourse, or cognition as determining factors. Rather, a usage-based Construction Grammar approach starts with the phenomena and data and seeks to account for these within a unified formal framework. This framework is strictly non-modular and allows for the inclusion of all factors necessary to account for the observed phenomena, including those from cognition, language, and discourse, if need be. Consequently, this approach can also be described as fully integrative with respect to these three fields.","PeriodicalId":53774,"journal":{"name":"CogniTextes","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47469683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Des constructions integrant des verbes de position (‘etre couche’, ‘etre assis’, ‘etre debout’) sont etudiees a partir de donnees de corpus. Un exemple de pseudo-coordination integrant un verbe de position est le danois Jeg sidder og laeser ‘Je lis’ (‘Je suis assis et lis’). De nombreuses etudes se sont concentrees sur la desemantisation et sur la grammaticalisation aspectuelle des verbes de position, mais des travaux recents ont montre que de tels developpements sont tres limites. La comprehension de la pseudo-coordination posturale doit etre recherchee dans le contexte de la pseudo-coordination en general et du role de la localisation. En utilisant la semantique des cadres (frame semantics), la presente etude applique la notion de ‘facilitation’ pour eclairer le role de la posture : la stabilite de posture et de localisation facilite l’activite designee dans la derniere partie de la coordination. Sur la base de grands corpus, des collexemes distinctifs sont trouves pour chaque verbe de position, de telle sorte que les collocations des verbes montrent comment les postures facilitent des ensembles distincts d’activites. En outre, quelques collexemes revelent la desemantisation des verbes de position, montrant comment se deroule la grammaticalisation aspectuelle.","PeriodicalId":53774,"journal":{"name":"CogniTextes","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45096249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main research question is the following: are the metaphors in TV series representative of those that can be found in naturally occurring conversation? The first part of this article exposes the theoretical background for the study of metaphor (Conceptual Metaphor Theory) and the methodology (MIP, Pragglejaz group) used to collect the data. The results that were obtained are briefly presented in the second part: a total of 393 metaphorical occurrences were taken into account (122 death metaphors, 127 sex metaphors, 144 disease metaphors). These metaphors were classified according to their source domains. In a third part, those results were compared to the results of previous studies on metaphor in non-fictional corpora (Semino et al. 2017 for disease metaphors, Crespo Fernandez 2017 for sex metaphors, and Bultinck 1998 for death metaphors). The aim was to determine whether the main source domains used were similar in naturally occurring conversation and in TV series. The study concludes on the differences between the metaphors in these two types of discourse, more specifically regarding the functions of those metaphors.","PeriodicalId":53774,"journal":{"name":"CogniTextes","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46407614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
