Avoiding this, the local community does the Safar bath ritual by reading selected shurah in the Qur’an, performing ablution, praying safely, praying rejecting curses, blessings to the Prophet, Zikir, swearing the utterance that there is no god but Allah, helping each other, friendship, eating together, praying the intention to do Safar bath with the aim to obtain safety and avoid curses in the month of Safar. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. The subject of the study is religious leaders and customary leaders. The techniques used in the study are non-participant observation, phone interviews and direct interviews. The study revealed that the Sungai Jambu Malay society praying for the safety, praying for longevity and rejecting disasters are a form of confidence in order that they saved from disasters and illness in the Safar month. Besides reading the surahs of al-Fatihah, al-Ikhlas, an-Naas and al-Falak to get a reward from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, doing ritual bath during the safar month for the Sungai Jambu Malay society is the purification from disasters and disease. In addition, bathing also removes odors, dust, and moisturizes the skin. However, the belief of the Sungai Jambu Malay society towards the Safar month, which brought curses and illness, there is a gap and contrary to the valid Hadith regarding the safar month.","PeriodicalId":53367,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44226200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Social media - as one of the products of digital revolution - becomes a free stage to spread anxiety, hate narratives wrapped in SARA and the legitimacy of the truth authority. By using Jürgen Habermas's critical hermeneutic analysis, this article wants to examine the phenomenon of discourse struggling, which is dominated by hate speech wrapped in religion and hoax on social media during the period 2017-2018, which on average loses communication ethics. In addition, this research also explains the actualization of the Solo Raya Center for Religion and Peace Studies in minimizing the utterances of hatred in the public sphere. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data is obtained from hate speech monitored by PSAP for the period January-December 2017 until January-July 2018. Data is a word or sentence in the form of banners and the like with utterances of hate spread in public spaces. The results of the study show that all forms of speech if associated with pragmatic science, are all included in the category of perlocution speech acts, because they all lead to the power of one's influence or cause bad stereotypes. Based on the class of hate speech forms, the data presented is classified into several types of hate speech, namely (1) insult; (2) provocation; (3) oppression; (4) speech of crime. In addition, a forum for communication and discussion is needed to erode speeches of hatred. For example, the formation of the Solo Raya PSAP institution as a form of minimizing the utterance of hate in the public space.","PeriodicalId":53367,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44556788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The spirit of life is based solely on competition of hatred and evil (xenophobia). This is caused by reality, since the growing nationalism is not based on the Qur’an, but it only inherits the West. With textual and contextual analysis of the verses of nationalism, this paper presented nationalism in the perspective of Qur’an through verses about the state and nation. This paper wants to examine how nationalism is desired by Qur’an and how relevant it is to the nationalism of Indonesian people. The result, the nationalism desired by Qur’an is a spirit of nationality, not nationalism based on pride. Quranic nationalism makes the nation compete with other nations in the world in achieving common goals. This is relevant to the spirit of Indonesian nationalism, at least there are three principles matching it, namely unity, justice and prosperity.","PeriodicalId":53367,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44327614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An era marked by the rise of new media, namely alternative media, which in its development has become a new field of religious discourse debate. The debate about Hadith also found its momentum increasingly dynamic. For instance, Muslims in Indonesia use new media to access and make hadith as a lifestyle reference. The emerging of terms such as halal food, syar'i heads carves, halal tourism, ojek syar'i, prophet-style healing, and so on are some examples of them. Unfortunately the existence of this new media indirectly shifts the authority of the Ulama as a reference in understanding the sacred texts, including hadith. This shift emerges to fabrication and distortion of understanding. The contestation of the Hadits authority still revolves around the two main camps: textualism-fundamentalism on the one hand and moderate contextualist- on the other hand. Outside of the two mainstream, the Inkar Sunah group also colored the contestation of hadith authority in new media by middle-class Muslims. Although its voice was not as massive as the two previous groups.","PeriodicalId":53367,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45499477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The majority who followed in Instagram were famous public figures such as celebrities, political figures and religious leaders. With this Instagram, da'i or preachers can convey their messages easily and free through photos and captions or short videos. This study is important to see how Instagram as a new media is able to become a trendsetter for wellknown Ustadz like Felix Siauw and Hanan Attaki. This study uses a qualitative research method using the framing model as proposed by Robert N. Entman by observing how a discourse or communication is displayed in the public space. The finding confirmed that the framing model of Felix Siauw and Hanan Attaki has similarities in preaching Islam through Instagram social media using short posts or short videos and interesting captions. However, both of them have different tendencies, in which Felix Siauw is more dominant in discussing social and political issues while Hanan Attaki is more dominant in discussing good advice or about love between men and women.","PeriodicalId":53367,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42200993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
