Various natural products, plants and herbs have been used effectively for antidiabetic effects. The present study was conducted to know the ethnomedicinal practices (double and triple phytotherapy) for diabetes mellitus by having interviews with qualified herbalists (Hakeems) practising in Faisalabad city, Pakistan. It was revealed that a total of 40 species belonging to 25 families are presently used for the treatment of diabetic mellitus. Among these 4 families (Paparaceae, Convolvulaceae, Asteraceae, and Solanaceae) had two species each, and one family (Moraceae) had three species (Ficus religiosa, Ficus benghalansis, and Ficus carica) while another one family (Zingiberaceae) had four species (Zingiber officinale, Curcuma longa, Elettaria cardamomum, and Alpinia galangal) had been successfully used for the treatment of diabetic mellitus. In double therapy, ten out of 15 prescriptions were being used in pulverized form while the others were in liquid form for treatment. In triple therapy, 17 remedies out of 20 were used in powder form while the remaining others were used in mixing with liquid. According to the herbalists both double phytotherapy and triple phytotherapy were successfully used to reduce the sugar level and exerted antidiabetic effects. It was concluded that these plants may have potential ingredients which can be exploited in further studies for the development of an effective drug against diabetes.                                                          ","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91245819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These types of MCDM are key for developing countries since the efficiency of the transfer process is vital to improve the productivity and competitiveness of companies and territories based on correct prioritization and selection of technologies, the definition of barriers and drivers, or the selection of the best provider, among others. In this sense, it is key to identify what is the evolution in the empirical use of this type of techniques for knowledge management and the reduction of competitive gaps. The objective of this review was to identify the current state-of-the-art of applications and use of methods for multi-criteria decision-making process in sectorial technology transfer, to establish trends, application areas, and future challenges. The review was conducted in the \"SCOPUS\" database between the years 2010 through 2021. The results showed three major research perspectives: a) Determination of technology-transfer strategies, b) Selection of appropriate technologies and c) Determination of barriers and drivers. The correct selection of transfer strategies and appropriate technologies can improve the efficiency of sectors such as agriculture, renewable energies, manufacturing, and construction that still refuse to introduce innovations, due to barriers such as acquisition and maintenance costs, complexity of use, ease of use. use and perceived utility.","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79054650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To prevent mass hunger by 2050, we need to increase rice output rapidly, is to grow hybrid rice, as China did in the 1980s. This can work, but a government attempt to introduce hybrid rice in the 1990s and 2000s fell flat. Sticky hybrid rice consumption went against Bangladeshi food culture. This discouraged farmers as well as many other risks they encountered when trying to grow hybrid rice. Unlike traditional rice, hybrid rice gave no seeds for the next year, and hybrid rice seed markets were unreliable and often fake. So, fewer Bangladeshi farmers are growing hybrid rice than in 2009, as more hybrid rice is increasing exponentially. This paper considers all the risks faced by a Bangladeshi farmer trying to grow hybrid rice faces. Then it assesses what policy measures are needed to manage those risks. From this consideration, the authors develop an integrated policy to surge hybrid rice cultivation in Bangladesh to increase total rice production by 2050 by at least 83%. The authors used a qualitative survey, key informant interviewing with snowball sampling, focus group discussions, and used published materials for the research methodology. Thematic approach method using Nvivo 12 software was applied for data analysis. Yet, it all implicitly hangs on changing Bangladeshi consumers' cultural preference from non-glutinous to glutinous rice, without which all of the policy changes will be too much for Bangladeshis to eat.","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90501914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Snails were exposed to serial concentrations of the clodinafop-propargyl for successive seven days using contact and bait techniques. The Median Lethal concentration (LC50) was determined and the effect of LC25 of test compound was examined on the total protein and alkaline phosphatase after seven days of treatment. In the field, the effect of the test compound used poison bait was evaluated after 21 days against H. aspersa on mango nursery trees at a reclaimed land in Abu- Rwash, Giza Governorate, Egypt. The effect of clodinafop –propargyl (25.200 ppm) was compared with methomyl (4.000 ppm) a compound recommended by Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in the field trials. The effects were evaluated after 1, 3,7, 15, and 21 days of treatment with both compounds. Based on the laboratory data for clodinafop –propargyl the LC50 were 6.750 ppm for the contact and 8.250 ppm for the bait method after seven days of treatment. Moreover, the compound caused a reduction in the total protein and alkaline phosphatase compared with the control. In the field, the compound caused 90.7% reduction in snail population compared to 75.0% reduction caused by methomyl after 21 days of treatment. Therefore, it be concluded that clodinafop –propargyl compound can be used as poison bait in the control programs to combat land snails","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88639508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study employs time-series data from January 2012 to December 2019, which comprises 96 monthly price samples, using econometric analysis, namely, the ADF unit root, Granger causality, co-integration, and error correction model. The empirical results show that (1) there are four causal relationships from crude palm oil price running to palm fruit price, the wholesale price of bottle-refined palm oil, and the retail price of bottle-refined palm oil, and from the wholesale price of bottle refined palm oil running to the wholesale price of gallon refined palm oil. The results further reveal that (2) the palm fruit price has the highest price transmission efficiency, followed by the wholesale price of bottle-refined palm oil, the retail price of bottle-refined palm oil and the wholesale price of gallon refined palm oil. The findings conclude that the crude palm oil price influences the pricing in Thailand’s oil palm and palm oil markets.","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76015480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper seeks to fill this gap. Agritech 5.0 technologies, drones, unmanned vehicles, and internet of things applications overcome unsustainable agriculture practices through precision. Sustainable agriculture requires policy, technology and people. Presently Extension Advisory Services are gender unresponsive. Unprepared farmers, especially women, may struggle to adapt to digital agriculture; therefore, a gender-responsive approach is a must for such an innovation. This entails genderizing extension tools, updating professional competence through retraining of women as technology teachers, tapping unutilised expert knowledge, including women in-app designs etc. Thus, a paradigm shift is required in agricultural planning, policy, and management. In addition, multistakeholder partnership and collaboration are necessary between the government and private sector. Besides, responsible research and innovation (RRI) approach is required to address ethical concerns in digital agriculture. ","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91314448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted in district Faisalabad of Punjab province. Total 432 respondents (aged between 15-29 years) were sampled from thirty-six villages of the study district. Respondents were interviewed through a face-to-face interview technique on an open-ended interview guide. Responses were analyzed through content analysis techniques. Findings of the study indicate that youth regarded the agriculture sector as non-profitable, hence they do not see them joining the agriculture sector as an occupation unless the government give it due attention. High cost of production, crashed marketing system, absence of farmer-friendly policies, environmental issues and lack of support and incentives for the youth were some issues distressing their interest in agriculture. This study recommends that to enhance the youth participation in agriculture, their socio-economic and cognitive limitations should be addressed on priority. Revoking the youth clubs and cooperatives especially in rural areas could be the viable option for the encouragement of youth. Moreover, the farmers' friendly policies are required to make agriculture a lucrative occupation for the youth. ","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90946759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Total 384 farmers chosen at random were interviewed face to face on a structured questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics like frequency, percentages, mean and F-test. Findings indicated that distribution of canal water at farm level (x̄=3.6), water theft (x̄=3.18) and Illegal ways of usage of canal water (x̄=3.14) were the key causes of water conflicts. Whereas, Panchayat (x̄=3.90), intermarriage between the conflicting parties (x̄=3.46), Payment of compensation to victims (x̄=3.46), Political pressure (x̄=3.42), use of thana culture (x̄=3.37) and migration (x̄=3.37) were the prominent strategies adopted locally by the farmers to resolve the conflicts. This study concludes that farmers had over-reliance on the non-formal judicial system, thus a comparison of the non-formal and formal judicial systems is suggested for future researchers. Moreover, a proactive institutional role is much needed for the formal resolution of conflicts and stoppage of water theft.                   ","PeriodicalId":52390,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Extension","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72598627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) into Pakistan has resulted in millions of dollars of losses for maize production. Due to the wide host range, high fecundity, and long-distance migrations favoring fall armyworm establishment, it has the potential to cause significant damage to several crops in Pakistan. In the maize cropping system, potato is another important crop that is cultivated on vast hectares. Okara is considered the hub of both maize and potato production in Pakistan. The existence of fall armyworm on maize could possibly threaten the potato crop. To ascertain the extent of possible damage from fall armyworm, we conducted a comprehensive survey of the potato growing area of the Okara District, Punjab, Pakistan. We collected twelve larvae from potato damaged plants from three different locations lat. 30.813979o, long. 73.533934o; lat. 30.725032o, long. 73.730319o and latitude 30.646966o, long. 73.786563o. Collected larvae were identified as fall armyworm. The plants from which the larvae were collected have a visible single hole at the base of the stem, which resulted in a sudden decline of feeding tiller.
