Out of the three stated objectives of the national higher education policy, equity and access have been achieved to a large extent, while excellence remains confined to a few pockets. Quality concerns reiterated by reports from government agencies, studies by industry bodies and manifested in rapidly declining student enrolments persist. Therefore, there is an urgent need for institutions to transform themselves to create value for their stakeholders. It will help successfully navigate the challenges facing the higher education sector. We present SOUL (Strategy, Operations, Urgency, Leadership), a comprehensive institutional transformation framework customized for Indian academia, enabling leadership teams to introduce validated interventions and global best practices at their institutions in a phased manner. SOUL is novel, relevant and timely, especially in the Indian context considering that disruption and crisis create opportunities for institutional transformation.\u0000\u0000\u0000

For this purpose, a parallel design approach was used in the study. The quantitative data were collected using the ’Corona virus Fear Scale’. Results of the study show that the students’ fear of corona virus was moderate. Students expressed that the factors which increased their fear levels in per- centage terms are: an increase in the number of cases (26.24%), increase in the number of deaths (12.69%), death of family members (2.40%), death of close relatives (1.20%), fear of losing loved ones (0.86%), being COVID positive (6.52%), a family member being COVID positive (5.15%), people in immediate surroundings being COVID positive (5.15%), people’s insensitivity (7.20%), people not wearing masks (4.29% ) and people not following social distancing (2.40%). To reduce their fears during the COVID-19 pandemic, students stated that they took measures such as staying at home, wearing a mask, paying attention to hygiene, taking precautions, and maintaining social distance.\u0000\u0000\u0000

Once found, retaining them is a big challenge, particularly if they belong to the Generation Y age group. Reports show that many Generation Y teachers are deserting private secondary schools for greener pastures elsewhere. This study enquires into the relationship between teacher needs management and retention of Generation Y teachers in private secondary schools of Mukono District (Uganda). The study employs a cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected using a questionnaire, interview guide, and documentary review checklist. Results reveal that the three needs management areas have a significant and positive correlation with the retention of Generation Y teachers. However, only achievement needs management was strongly correlated. The study concludes that as far as the retention of Generation Y teachers is concerned, affiliation and power needs management play only an ancillary role. Achievement needs seem to house the ‘magic bullet’- particularly if accompanied by monetary rewards. Thus, for the retention of Generation Y teachers, schools should devise prompt monetary reward practices as a generation-specific retention strategy.\u0000\u0000\u0000

It is a complex process that leaves an enormous impact on student life. This research examines the factors which influence undergraduate music students’ career choices in Malaysian public universities. A total of 489 respondents responded to the questionnaire using a survey method. The results indicate that the individual factors are the most influential factors that affect undergraduate music students’ career choices. The results also show that male students are influenced by individual and societal factors in their decision to pursue a career in music. The One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test reports a significant difference between the type of instruments they play and the universities they attend on factors influencing the choice of music career among undergraduate music students. While the need for ICT integration in today’s pedagogical activities is inevitable, online instruction in Ghanaian higher education is still challenging. Referring to the pressing need for ICT integration and online instructions amid COVID-19, we assess the challenges academic staff in Ghanaian universities encounter concerning online instructions and ICT integration into pedagogical activities. We conducted a cross-sectional survey with 628 (response rate of 83.1%, N= 522) academic staff from two universities. Results reveal that instructors/lecturers’ challenges (inadequate ICT infrastructure and lack of stable electric power) and institutional challenges (lack of consistent practice and limited technical assistance) pre- dominantly affects online instructions and ICT integration. The implication drawn from our findings is that the challenges of online instruction and ICT integration in Ghanaian universities are interrelated. We recommend that stakeholders and policy-makers in Ghanaian universities should endeavour to provide holistic solutions rather than solving the identified challenges in isolation.\u0000\u0000\u0000

A multiple case study approach examines the participants’ individualised responses to rhythmic entrainment during the six-week music and movement intervention. Sensory sensitivities play a vital role in affecting the four participants entraining their body movements to the rhythmic cues, and inducing their auditory-motor mechanism. The findings indicate that each participant with autism has a distinctive response to the rhythmic cues, and this impacts the treatment outcomes of the music and movement intervention. The study recommends future researchers include individual differences in sensory and motor development as part of their investigation.
