Three single input-single output (SISO) control systems are considered, for cart position control, arm angular position control and payload position control, and separate SISO controllers are designed in each control system. Experimental results are included to support the comparison of the three plus three plus three sliding mode controllers.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89626989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper adopts the two-scale fractal theory to calculate fast and effectively the fractal dimensions of a porous concrete. Of the concrete's properties that have been fascinating engineers and scientists, by far the most perplexing is the effects of its porosity and pore size on concrete's strength. Though there were many ad hoc empirical formulae for predicting the strength, much deviation arose for practical applications. Here a dimensionless model and the fractal theory are adopted to insight theoretically into the effects, and for the first time ever, some physically relative and mathematically reliable formulations are proposed. Additionally nano/micro particles’ size and distribution can also be used for theoretical prediction of the concrete’s strength, it shows that the boundary-induced force occurs when the particles tend to micro/nanoscales. The present theory sheds new light on the optimal design of various functional concretes.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"203 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76964317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This may serve as an initial working document, to be improved by the experts in the field. A narrative review is used to present synthesis and deduction of several approaches in cardiology regarding the actu-al topic. Candida spec. is common resident of the gastrointestinal tract and integral part of the microbiota. The aim of the study was to evaluate if positive Candida cultures in the stool influence metabolic parameters in type 2DM patients. 46 patients with type 2 DM and oral antidiabetic treatment, were divided into a study group (S=18 patients with positive Candida sp. cultures in stool) and the control group (C= remaining 28 patients). Besides medical history and clinical examination, all patients were tested for coproculture, fasting glycaemia (FPG), HbA1C, total cholesterol (CL) triglycerides (TG), high- density lipoproteins (HDL) and low- density lipoproteins (LDL). Study group patients had a significantly higher BMI (31.41 ± 5.29 vs. 25.18 ± 3.58; p<0.001); HbA1C (9.8 % ± 1.74 vs 6.9% ± 1.89; p<0.05) as well as FPG (10.87 ± 1.35 vs 7.47 ± 1.03; p<0.01), compared to the control group. Even though the study group patients had higher TG, CL, LDL and HDL, compared to the control group, there was no statistical significance verified. Uncontrolled glucoregulation is one of the host condition which favours candida colonization and subsequent infection. This may be related to the decrease in commensal bacteria, probably as the result of yeast-bacterial competition. On the other hand, we have to keep in mindthat a significantly increased number of Candida colonies can affect the rate of digestion and absorption of carbohydrates and consequently increase the level of glycaemia in patients with diabetes.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135081233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are created by connecting a timber and concrete element. They are designed in such a way that the concrete part of the beam is placed in the compressed zone, and the timber part is placed in the tension zone. Different types of fasteners can be used for connecting, from mechanical (screws, nails, perforated plates, parts of steel profiles, etc.) to chemical (various types of glues). In this work, the possibility of active strengthening for this type of beam by external prestressing, is examined. One way for applying an external prestressing force is shown. By experimental testing are determined results for prestressed and beam without prestressing. Obtained results are presented and compared.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135601288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The parameter that is the dominant indicator of achieving an adequate level of IEQ is Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). Since children spend most of their time in schools achieving an adequate level of the indoor environment is especially important. Inadequate IEQ can cause serious consequences on their health and well-being. Current research and practice show that there is a lack of a uniform protocol for the evaluation of IAQ in buildings. Consequently, different research methodologies provide inconsistent results and prevent real insight into the state of IAQ in buildings. This paper aims to define the indoor air quality evaluation protocol that will allow uniform and wholesome insight into the current state of the indoor environment in a school building in Serbia. The protocol will be defined through steps and parameters that should be considered in order to get a complete insight into IAQ in buildings. Implementation of the protocol should provide recommendations for the treatment of school buildings both during energy renovation as well as future design.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136371278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water scarcity is one of the direct consequences of drought. A proactive approach based on drought risk management is needed to successfully lessen the vulnerability to droughts. The source of measures selected for a particular river basin in its Drought Management Plan is a Catalogue of drought management measures. One such catalogue is proposed in this paper by extensive literature and documentation review, from the perspective of the water sector. Five groups of measures comprise the catalogue of twenty-six individual measures. The grouping of measures is done according to the tradition of organizing the water sector in Serbia: (1) water systems, (2) green solutions, (3) agriculture-oriented measures, (4) aquatic ecosystems, and (5) non-structural measures. The aim of the paper is to contribute to an existing list of drought risk management measures in the light of activities on the first National Drought Plan, and the next Action plan after 2023 for the implementation of the Water Management Strategy for the Territory of the Republic of Serbia until 2034.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136303615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The assumption of the paper is that reading the city as a palimpsest can be the basis for a democratic heritage presentation and a multivocal and multitemporal understanding of the past by unveiling the visible and invisible layers of urban memory. The question arises to what extent traditional formats of heritage presentation in public spaces can respond to these demands. This paper aims to explain the concept and method of reading the city as a palimpsest and to demonstrate its application in the case of Students Square in Belgrade to discover and unveil invisible urban memory, while critically reviewing the traditional presentation formats and their ability to adequately present it in public spaces. The results of the research confirm the potential of the palimpsest method and point to a selective approach and physical limitations of traditional formats to present the complexity of urban memory in urban public spaces.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136371277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
