Since the power allocation and user pairing are tightly intertwined, they are considered as a hybrid issue. Accordingly, High-High/High-Low user pairing process precedes date rate-based power allocation. Derived closed-form expressions for the outage probabilities and the sum data rate for uplink power-domain NOMA system over a composite Fisher-Snedecor (F) fading channel are used for an extensive performance evaluation. The impact of different fading/shadowing channel conditions, various users’ positions and their number on the performance metrics is examined. Presented results have high level of generality since the F fading model provides accurate characterization of the multipath/shadowing conditions in numerous communication scenarios of interest.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134920313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is effective in treating testicular, ovarian, head and neck, bladder, cervical, esophageal tumors, and small cell lung carcinoma. Approximately 1% of cisplatin that enters the cell interacts with DNA, forming DNA-cisplatin bonds. Both apoptosis and necrosis can be found in the same population of cells exposed to cisplatin, and the mode of cell death depends on the cisplatin concentration and metabolic state of the target cell. In the bloodstream, the platinum component of cisplatin binds to the blood's proteins (hemoglobin, albumin and transferrin), and other significant portion binds to the glutathione and other cysteine-rich biomolecules. Cisplatin impairs the mitochondrial and cell antioxidant defense system (decreases GSH, NADPH levels, GCH/GSSG ratio, and increases GSSG levels) leading to oxidative stress. There are three main mechanisms of cell resistance to cisplatin: (1) enhanced repair of cisplatin-induced DNA lesions, (2) decrease in uptake and/or increase in efflux and (3) inactivation of cisplatin intracellularly. The usage of cisplatin is limited due to its toxicity and side effects, which include neurotoxicity (numbness and tingling, paresthesia, reduced deep tendon reflexes), nephrotoxicity (renal insufficiency, hypomagnesemia), ototoxicity (tinnitus and bilateral high-frequency hearing loss), cardiotoxicity (changes in electric heart activity, congestive heart failure), gastrotoxicity (nausea, vomiting, and dyspepsia), etc. So far, there has been no effective, clinically administered, therapy for cisplatin-induced toxicity.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136355764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The representative volume element (RVE) method used in this work were analytically and numerically validated by comparing the obtained results to those available in literature. Firstly, unit cell method was used to capture the entire effects of different parameters on the free vibration of honeycomb sandwich structure in ANSYS. This study analyzed the natural frequencies of honeycomb sandwich structures with different core materials combination. The effects of foil thickness, boundary conditions, materials selection, density and presence of crack on sandwich structure were taken into consideration and examined. The proposed core had an inbuilt shaped reinforcement with different materials for effective resonance, fatigue and deformation resistance at much higher frequency.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90357657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, a stretchable PDMS composite electrodes using ternary systems of fillers consisting of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) / carbon nanotube (CNT) / silver nanowire (AgNW) is explored in a perspective of electro-mechanical response. PDMS matrix is mixed with binary fillers of CNT and PEDOT:PSS, which is followed by AgNW peeling-off process. The PDMS composite is mechanically reliable especially under tensile deformation, which showed a high rupture strain of ~102 % and tensile strength of ~2.7 MPa. In addition, the PDMS composites shows the stable electro-mechanical response, where high electrical conductivity is sustained even under stretchable conditions, showing an electrical resistance value of ~11.7 Ω/cm under 40% of strain. As a demonstration, a supercapacitor using the PDMS composites is demonstrated that shows reliable electrochemical performance.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77968970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we focus on VSA utilizing a magnetic spring made of two coaxial rings divided into alternately magnetized sections. The torque generated between the rings is opposite to the angular deflection from equilibrium and its value increases as the deflection grows – within a specific range of angles that we call a stable range. Beyond the stable range, the spring exhibits negative stiffness what causes problems with prediction and control. In order to avoid it, it is convenient to operate within a narrower range of angles that we call a safe range. The magnetic springs proposed so far utilize few pairs of arc magnets, and their safe ranges are significantly smaller than the stable ones. In order to broaden the safe range, we propose a different design of the magnetic spring, which is composed of flat magnets, as well as a new arrangement of VSA (called ATTRACTOR) utilizing the proposed spring. Correctness and usability of the concept are verified in FEM analyses and experiments performed on constructed VSA, which led to formulating models of the magnetic spring. The results show that choosing flat magnets over arc ones enables shaping spring characteristics in a way that broadens the safe range. An additional benefit is lowered cost, and the main disadvantage is a reduced maximal torque that the spring is capable of transmitting. The whole VSA can be perceived as promising construction for further development, miniaturization and possible application in modern robotic mechanisms.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85923930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To increase the EDM performance, a hybrid technique, namely, powder mixed electrical discharge machining (EDM) (PMEDM) is generally used for getting more precise requirements. In this study, an experimental investigation is carried out in order to explore the machining performance of the PMEDM process on Ti-6Al-4V alloy using copper (Cu) powder in the EDM oil dielectric. Taguchi’s L18 orthogonal array design has been utilized for design of experiments and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) has been performed with the help of Minitab-19 software. The optimal parametric setting of Cu powder mixed EDM has been found utilizing the Taguchi - Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) integrated approach and also validation of optimal parametric setting is done through experimentation. It is a novel approach for machining Ti-6Al-4V alloy by this PMEDM technique in which the surface quality has been improved significantly with the addition of suitable amount of Cu powder into the dielectric medium.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77117923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The importance of efficient energy use in railways and cost-effective rail transport tendency toward regenerative braking energy are considered. In addition, the current situation and improvement opportunities to achieve efficient energy use are examined. Seven measurement series were performed with scheduled Railjet trains between Hegyeshalom and Győr railway stations in Hungary. This railway section is related to the Hungarian State Railways' No. 1 main railway line (between Budapest-Kelenföld and Hegyeshalom state board), which is a part of the international railway line between Budapest and Vienna (capitals of Hungary and Austria, respectively). This double-track, electrified railway line with traditional ballasted superstructures and continuously welded rail tracks is important due to the international passenger and freight transport between Germany, Austria, and Hungary. The value of the regenerative braking energy can be even 20-30% of the total consumed energy. This quite enormous untapped energy can be used for several aims, e.g., for comfort energy demand (air conditioning, heating-cooling, lighting, etc.) or energy-intensive starts. The article also investigates the optimization of regenerative braking energy by seeking the energy-waste locations and the reasons for the significant consumption. The train operator's driving style and habit have been identified as one of the main reasons. Furthermore, train driver assistance systems are recommended to save energy, which is planned for future research.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"63 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90655505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since there was no CAD model or other reference profile for the measured detail, the first step was to generate the reference contour of the cam using the technical drawing and tolerance requirements. The test campaign consisted of three experiments aimed at determining the effect of scanning velocity on the results of form deviation δ measurement, evaluation of deviation δ measurement uncertainty and the measurement repeatability. The scanning time was checked, too. The obtained results demonstrated feasibility of the chosen CMM and measurement strategy. It was found also that the measurement uncertainty did not depend on the scanning sampling step from 0.05 to 0.2 mm, and the true measurement time was for 30-40% longer than that expected from the nominal scanning velocity.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":"75 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85404963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
