Nanas bongsai (Ananas comosus var. microstachys L.) is commonly used as a medical plant, which local people believe of Riau Province Indonesia, as medicine to reduce pain while the menstruation period (dysmenorrhea). This study was aim to find histopathologic changes in the kidney and liver after being treated with nanas bongsai extract in the female white rat.  Design experimental of this research is complete randomized design with 5 treatments. Each treatment was composed of two control (zero control given with water, positive control given with mefenamic acid) and nanas bongsai extract with 3 different dosage serials. Histology preparations were made by paraffin method and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. The results showed that given nanas bongsai extract with three serial dosages towards the kidney show a picnosis in the nucleus. However, this damage did not affect the glomerulus structure. While observation towards the liver shows some injury, namely hydropic degeneration, lipid degeneration, and necrosis. Both of these damaged less than 25%. As a result, this percentage did not affect the structure of the kidney and liver. The results of this study indicate that there is no damage to the kidneys and liver due to the use of nanas bongsai so it is safe to use in herbal medicine and can be developed as a dysmenorrhea drug.AbstrakDismenore merupakan masalah klinis dan sosial yang penting yang memengaruhi lebih dari 50% wanita menstruasi. Nanas bongsai (Ananas comosus var. microstachys L.) dipercayai oleh masyarakat Desa Muara lembu, Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi, Provinsi Riau sebagai obat untuk mengurangi nyeri saat haid (dismenore). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan histopatologi pada ginjal dan hati setelah diberi perlakuan ekstrak nanas bongsai pada tikus putih betina. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan 5 perlakuan. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari dua kontrol dan ekstrak nanas bongsai dengan 3 seri dosis yang berbeda. Preparat histologi dibuat dengan metode parafin dan pewarnaan Hematoxylin-Eosin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak nanas bongsai dengan dosis tiga seri terhadap ginjal menunjukkan picnosis pada nukleus. Namun, kerusakan ini tidak memengaruhi struktur glomerulus. Sedangkan pengamatan terhadap hati menunjukkan beberapa cedera, yaitu degenerasi hidropik, degenerasi lipid, dan nekrosis. Keduanya rusak kurang dari 25%. Akibatnya, persentase ini tidak memengaruhi struktur ginjal dan hati. Keeping fish with good water quality will increase productivity. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of adding aeration and using filters on carcass weight, muscle fiber diameter and number of muscle fibers in red tilapia. This research used 24 red tilapia fish with an initial body weight of around 7 g. Divided into 4 groups, namely the maintenance group using one aerator without a filter (ANF), the maintenance group using two aerators without a filter (AANF), the maintenance group using one aerator and using a filter (AF) and the maintenance group using two aerators and using a filter (AAF). The results showed that rearing red tilapia fish in the group rearing two aerators and using a filter had a significant effect (P <0.05) on carcass weight, muscle fiber diameter, and number of muscle fibers. Observation of the muscle histology structure showed that there was no damage to the muscle histology structure. The conclusion of this research indicate that additional aerator equipped with filters will supports the growth of red tilapia fish.AbstrakIkan nila merah (Oreochromis niloticus) merupakan ikan yang banyak disukai masyarakat Indonesia. Pemeliharaan ikan dengan kualitas air yang baik akan memberikan peningkatan produktivitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh penambahan aerasi dan penggunaan filter terhadap bobot karkas, diameter serabut otot serta jumlah serabut otot pada ikan nila merah. Penelitian ini menggunakan 24 ekor ikan nila merah dengan bobot badan awal berkisar 7 g. Dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok, yaitu kelompok pemeliharaan menggunakan satu aerator tanpa filter (ANF), kelompok pemeliharaan menggunakan dua aerator tanpa filter (AANF), kelompok pemeliharaan menggunakan satu aerator dan menggunakan filter (AF) serta kelompok pemeliharaan menggunakan dua aerator dan menggunakan filter (AAF). Hasil menunjukkan pemeliharaan ikan nila merah pada kelompok pemeliharaan dua aerator dan menggunakan filter berpengaruh nyata (P <0,05) terhadap bobot karkas, diameter serabut otot, dan jumlah serabut otot. Pada pengamatan struktur histologi otot menunjukkan tidak adanya kerusakan struktur histologi otot. Identikasi morfologi anggrek B. lobii memiliki keterbatasan karena kemiripan spesies dengan anggrek lain. Alternatif identifikasi secara molekuler menggunakan sekuen matK dan ITS2 sebagai barcode dalam DNA barcoding diharapkan menjadi salah satu lokus pembeda spesies anggrek B. lobbii secara akurat dan efisien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sekuen matK dan ITS2 sebagai penanda molekuler yang efektif untuk anggrek B. lobbii. DNA genom B. lobbii diisolasi dengan metode Cethyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide (CTAB) dan amplifikasi DNA dengan PCR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sekuen matK dari B. lobbii memiliki tingkat homologi tinggi dengan dua spesies B. lobbii (KY966747.1 dan KY966691.1) dari China dengan nilai Per. Ident sebesar 99,20%, sedangkan sekuen ITS2 memiliki homologi tertinggi dengan nilai Per. Ident sebesar 99,76% pada spesies B. lobbii (MG253848.1) dari Polandia. Hasil analisis menunjukkan sekuen ITS2 dapat mengidentifikasi spesies dari tingkatan subspesies atau diatasnya (ordo atau genus) dan juga meningkatkan resolusi filogenetik yang baik pada hasil BLAST, sedangkan sekuen matK memberikan sedikit kontribusi dalam pengelompokkan hubungan kekerabatan antara spesies B. lobbii dengan spesies pembanding lainnya. Sekuen ITS2 dapat direkomendasikan sebagai penanda molekuler yang paling baik untuk identifikasi sampel anggrek Bulbophyllum, khususnya Bulbophyllum lobbii.AbstractBulbophyllum lobbii Lindl. is an orchid from the Orchidaceae family which has potential as a raw material for herbal medicine. Morphological identification of the B. lobii orchid has limitations due to the species' similarity to other orchids. The alternative molecular identification using matK and ITS2 sequences as barcodes in DNA barcoding is expected to be one of the loci for distinguishing the B. lobbii orchid species accurately and efficiently. This study aims to identify matK and ITS2 sequences as effective molecular markers for the orchid B. lobbii. Bulbophyllum lobbii genomic DNA was isolated using the Cethyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide (CTAB) method and DNA amplification by PCR. The results showed that the matK sequence from B. lobbii has a high level of homology with two B. lobbii species (KY966747.1 and KY966691.1) from China with a value of Per. Ident is 99.20%, while the ITS2 sequence has the highest homology with a Per. Ident value of 99.76% with the species B. lobbii (MG253848.1) from Poland. The results of the analysis show that the ITS2 sequence can identify species from the subspecies level or above (ordo or genus) and also improves good phylogenetic resolution in BLAST results, while the matK sequence makes little contribution in grouping the relationship between the B. lobbii species and other comparison species. Kandungan pada daun kelor mampu mendukung proses pencernaan, absorpsi, metabolisme, dan produktivitas unggas. Pemberian tepung daun kelor dalam pakan dengan konsentrasi yang tepat dapat mengefektifkan proses pencernaan dan absorpsi nutrien dengan memperbaiki struktur mikroanatomi duodenum puyuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pemberian tepung daun kelor dalam pakan terhadap diameter lumen, tinggi vili, lebar vili, dan tebal muskular duodenum puyuh. Desain penelitian menggunakan RAL dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan konsentrasi pemberian tepung daun kelor dalam pakan meliputi 0, 2,5; 5; 7,5, dan 10%. Preparat histologi dibuat melalui metode parafin dengan pewarnaan Hematoksilin-Eosin (HE). Parameter yang diamati meliputi diameter lumen, tinggi vili, lebar vili, dan tebal lapisan muskular duodenum. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan menggunakan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tepung daun kelor dalam pakan berpengaruh tidak nyata  (P >0,05) terhadap diameter lumen, tinggi vili, dan lebar vili, namun berpengaruh nyata (P <0,05) terhadap tebal lapisan muskular pada duodenum puyuh.  Simpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa pemberian tepung daun kelor dalam pakan tidak berpotensi mengubah mikroanatomi duodenum puyuh sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai aditif pakan. Namun, pemberian tepung daun kelor dalam pakan berpotensi dalam meningkatkan ketebalan lapisan muskular duodenum puyuh.AbstractMoringa is a tropical plant rich in phytonutrients and bioactive compounds. The content in moringa leaves can support the process of digestion, absorption, metabolism, and productivity of poultry. Giving moringa leaf meal in feed with the right concentration can streamline the digestive process, and nutrient absorption by improving the microanatomical structure of the quail duodenum. This study aims to analyze the provision of moringa leaf flour in feed on the diameter of the lumen, villi height, villi width and muscular thickness of the quail duodenum. The research design used RAL with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment concentration of moringa leaf meal in feed included 0; 2.5; 5; 7.5, and 10%. Histology preparations were made through paraffin method with Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) staining. Parameters observed included lumen diameter, villi height, villi width, and duodenal muscular layer thickness. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan's test using the SPSS program. The results showed that moringa leaf meal in feed had no significant effect (P >0.05) on lumen diameter, villus height and villus width, but had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the thickness of the muscular layer in the duodenum of quail. The conclusion of this study is that the provision of moringa leaf meal in feed does not have the potential to change the microanatomy of the quail duodenum so that it can be utilized as a feed additive. Kemampuan ikan dalam memanfaatkan makanan alami di badan air menjadi salah satu faktor keberhasilan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan ikan tebaran dalam memanfaatkan makanan alami di Waduk Penjalin. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode stratified random sampling pada bulan Desember 2021 sampai Februari 2022, dengan pengambilan sampel satu kali setiap bulannya. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 4 stasiun yaitu Dam, Keser Kulon, Soka, dan Kedung Agung. Analisis data meliputi indeks relatif penting, kebiasaan makanan dan tingkat trofik, luas relung, dan tumpang tindih relung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan tebaran termasuk ikan herbivora (nila, tawes, mas) dan karnivora (udang galah). Ikan nila dan tawes memanfaatkan fitoplankton, ikan mas memanfaatkan tumbuhan dan udang galah memanfaatkan moluska sebagai makanan utama. Ikan yang ditebar cenderung spesialis dalam mencari makanan. Tumpang tindih relung tinggi terjadi antara ikan nila dan tawes, namun ketersediaan makanan alami yang melimpah masih memungkinkan ikan tersebut tumbuh dengan baik.AbstractFish enhancement is one of the efforts to increase fish production in Penjalin Reservoir. The ability of fish to utilize natural food in water bodies is one of the success factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of the stockfish to utilize natural food in the Penjalin Reservoir. The research was conducted using the stratified random sampling method in December 2021 until February 2022, with sampling once per month. Sampling was carried out at 4 stations namely Dam, Keser Kulon, Soka and Kedung Agung. Data analysis included relative importance indices, food habits and trophic level, niche breadth and niche overlap. The results showed that the stocked fish included herbivorous fish (nile tilapia, silver barb, common carp) and carnivorous fish (giant freshwater prawns). Nile tilapia and silver barb fish use phytoplankton, common carp use plants and giant freshwater prawns use molluscs as their main food. Stocked fish tend to be specialists in finding food. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan kemampuan daya hambat dan kategori aktivitas antifungi asap cair berbahan dasar kayu mundu (Garcinia dulcis) terhadap jamur Aspergillus niger dan Aspergillus fumigatus serta kandungan senyawa kimianya. Kayu mundu yang digunakan berasal dari Kabupaten Kubu Raya. Media Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) digunakan untuk uji aktivitas antifungi asap cair. Enam konsentrasi asap cair yaitu 0; 0,5; 1,0; 1,5, 2,0 dan 2,5% digunakan untuk uji dengan dithane M45 sebagai pembanding. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asap cair berbahan dasar kayu mundu mampu menekan pertumbuhan jamur A. niger dan A. fumigatus secara signifikan (P <0,05). Konsentrasi asap cair berbahan dasar kayu mundu sebesar 2,5% memberikan hasil terbaik dengan nilai rata-rata penghambatan terhadap jamur A. niger dan A. fumigatus masing-masing sebesar 100 dan 91,81% dan tergolong kategori aktivitas sangat kuat. Uji kandungan senyawa kimia asap cair berbahan dasar kayu mundu mengandung 5 senyawa utama, yaitu 2-propanone, 1,2 ethanediol, acetid acid, phenol 2-methoxy-4-(2-propenyl)-(CAS) eugenol, dan 3-furaldehyde. Asap cair berbahan dasar kayu mundu berpotensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai pengendali serangan jamur patogen A. niger dan A. fumigatus pada pasca panen tanaman hortikultura.AbstractAspergillus is pathogenic fungi that infect post-harvest yields of horticultural crops, i.e., Zea mays and legum. Using liquid smoke is one of the natural and safe alternatives to control fungus and the growth of pathogenic fungi that attack post-harvest yields of cultivated plants. This study aimed to evaluate the antifungal properties of liquid smoke from mundu (Garcinia dulcis) wood against the fungus Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus fumigatus. Mundu wood is from Kubu Raya Regency. The Agar media used was Potato Dextrin Agar (PDA), and concentrations of liquid smoke were 0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0; and 2.5%. The results indicated that the liquid smoke from Mundu wood significantly inhibited the A. niger and A. fumigatus growth (P <0.05). The highest result of liquid smoke from Mundu wood against A. niger and A. fumigatus is a concentration of 2.5% with an average inhibition value of 100 and 91.81%, respectively, with a firm activity level. The contents of liquid smoke contained five dominant compounds, i.e., 2-propanone, 1,2 ethanediol, acetic acid, phenol 2-methoxy-4-(2-propenyl)-(CAS) eugenol, and 3-furaldehyde. Not much research has been done on the morphological diversity of kecombrang plants in Aceh, so scientific information about these plants is still minimal. Therefore, this research needs to be carried out to enrich knowledge about these plants in the Aceh region. Sampling was conducted from January to April 2022 at three places in Central Aceh, Banda Aceh, Weh Island, and Simeulue Island. This research was carried out according to the survey method by roaming and direct collection. A total of 12 groves were collected from wild and cultivated area and observed for 43 characters consisting of quantitative and qualitative data. Based on these observations, two variations of the kecombrang plant have been found based on the color of the bracts, namely the red and pink variants. Based on morphological characters of vegetative organs, all samples of Etlingera elatior had a similarity distance coefficient from 67 to 86%. In addition, the kecombrang plants found in the highlands of Central Aceh have a larger size in leaf and inflorescent compared to samples from other locations.AbstrakKecombrang (Etlingera elatior) adalah salah satu jenis tumbuhan famili Zingiberaceae yang secara luas penggunaanya dikenal oleh masyarakat sebagai makanan dan obat. Belum banyak penelitian terkait keanekaragaman morfologi tumbuhan kecombrang di Aceh, sehingga informasi ilmiah tentang tumbuhan ini masih sedikit. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini perlu dilakukan untuk memperkaya pengetahuan tentang tumbuhan tersebut di daerah Aceh. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada bulan Januari hingga April 2022 di tiga tempat yaitu di Aceh Tengah, Banda Aceh, Pulau Weh, dan Pulau Simeulue. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survei dengan cara jelajah dan pengumpulan langsung. Sebanyak 12 rumpun dikumpulkan dari kawasan liar dan budi daya dan diamati sebanyak 43 karakter yang terdiri dari data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Berdasarkan pengamatan tersebut, ditemukan dua variasi tanaman kecombrang berdasarkan warna braktea, yaitu varian merah dan merah jambu. Berdasarkan karakter morfologi organ vegetatif, seluruh sampel Etlingera elatior memiliki koefisien kemiripan dari 67 hingga 86%. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tipe dan kelimpahan mikroplastik pada insang dan saluran pencernaan ikan bandeng serta polimer yang terkandung dalam mikroplastik. Jenis penelitian termasuk ke dalam penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan pendekatan eksploratif. Metode penentuan lokasi menggunakan purposive sampling pada 3 stasiun dengan 3 pengulangan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan 3 tipe mikroplastik yaitu fiber, fragment, dan film dengan nilai kelimpahan tertinggi diperoleh pada tipe fiber yaitu 11,11 partikel/individu (insang) dan 9,05 partikel/individu (saluran pencernaan) dari sampel stasiun 2. Nilai mikroplastik yang ditemukan di insang paling tinggi nilai kelimpahannya (2,34 partikel/individu) dibandingkan dengan yang terdapat pada saluran pencernaan (1,86 partikel/individu). Sedangkan jenis polimer yang ditemukan adalah nilon (poliamida), polivinil klorida (PVC), dan low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Oleh karena itu, berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang didapatkan perlu diteliti lebih lanjut nilai lethal dosis mikroplastik dan pengaruh yang ditimbulkan sebagai akibat ditemukannya berbagai tipe mikroplastik pada organ insang dan saluran pencernaan terhadap pertumbuhan ikan bandeng.AbstractPlastic waste in waters that is increased by the human population is the most common source of microplastic contamination in milkfish (Chanos chanos) from the traditional pond system at Sedati district Sidoarjo regency. This research aims to identify the microplastic type, abundance, and polymers in the microplastics. This type of research includes qualitative and quantitative descriptive with an explorative approach. The location determination method uses purposive sampling at 3 stations with 3 repetitions. The study revealed three types of microplastics, which are fiber, fragment, and film with fiber exhibiting the highest abundance at 11,11 particles/ind in gills, while gastrointestinal tracts showed 9.05 particles/ind at station 2. Additionally, Chanos chanos gills displayed the highest microplastic abundance (2.34 particles/ind) compared to the gastrointestinal tract (1.86 particles/ind). The study identified various polymers within the microplastics, including nylon (polyamide), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) dan Benzly Amino Purine (BAP) terhadap multiplikasi tunas krisan varietas Suciono. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan satu faktor yakni kombinasi hormon IAA dan BAP yang 9 kombinasi, yakni 0 mg/L +  1,5 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 2 mg/L; dan 1 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L dimana setiap kombinasi diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Variabel yang diamati meliputi analisis histologis kalus, waktu muncul tunas, jumlah tunas, tinggi tunas, dan jumlah daun. Hasil analisis ragam atau ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi IAA 0 mg/L dan BAP 2 mg/L merupakan kombinasi konsentrasi terbaik untuk multiplikasi tunas. Penambahan BAP 2 mg/L mampu menghasilkan persentase muncul tunas. 100%, jumlah tunas 3 per-eksplan, tinggi tunas 7 cm, dan jumlah daun sebanyak 16 helai.AbstractThe variety Suciono of chrysanthemum is a potential ornamental plant that is in demand by the world's population, as indicated by the increasing market demand for chrysanthemum plants throughout the year. This  has led to the importance of in vitro propagation of chrysanthemum. The aim of the this study is to determine the effect of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) and Benzly Amino Purine (BAP) on the multiplication of chrysanthemum shoots of the Suciono variety. The design of this study used nodus explants, treated with a combination of IAA hormones and BAP. It is make 9 combinations, and then the combinations of hormones is 0 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 2 mg/L; and 1 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L.  The observed variables included histological analysis of callus, time of shoot emergence,  number of shoots, shoots height, and number of leaves. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment with 0 mg/L IAA and 2 mg/L BAP was the best concentration for shoots multiplication.
