It is become popular due to its regenerative potential of autologous blood components that enhance tissue repair while improving overall surgical outcomes. we decided to discuss historical evolution of PRP and OMFS, preparation methods and biological mechanisms, OMFS applications, more precisely, efficacy of PRP in OMFS. PRP was originated from early explorations in wound healing research and now it has made continuous refinement and is being used in widespread application across diverse medical specialities. In OMFS, PRP is prepared through centrifugation methods where PRP is concentrate platelets and other important growth factors that are essential for tissue regeneration, or improving bone density and regrowth. Clinical applications span from bone and soft tissue augmentation to the management of temporomandibular joint disorders and maxillofacial pathology. Various pieces of evidence promise promising outcomes, but the efficacy of PRP in enhancing bone regeneration remains debated among researchers and physicians, which necessitates further research and comprehensive validation. Complications of PRP administration are rare but may include infection, nerve damage, tissue calcification, or even blindness in some cases, which emphasizes careful patient selection and monitoring is evident. PRP future in OMFS is promising for more personalized therapies and standardized protocols. More discoveries will be made through mixed or combination treatments with PRP and it will expand applications, technological advancements, and efficacy in long-term outcome.","PeriodicalId":503011,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Dental Health","volume":"77 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141116737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent experimental studies of (Curcumin) showed significant Aβ aggregation inhibition, but its molecular mechanism is not yet clear. Hence, the present study aims at exploring the underlying mechanism of destabilization and inhibition of aggregation of the Aβ protofibril by Curcumin at the molecular level. Molecular docking analysis shows that Curcumin binds to chain E of the Aβ protofibril through hydrogen bonding interactions. Comparative molecular dynamics simulations depict the binding of Curcumin at the edge of chain E, and its partially inserted conformation at the hydrophobic core destabilizes the Aβ protofibril. Its binding causes loss of hydrophobic contacts, leading to a partial opening of tightly packed β-sheet protofibrils. The hydration effect of salt bridge between the amino group of Lys28 and the oxygen atom of Curcumin contributes in destabilization of Aβ protofibrils. Binding free energy calculations of Curcumin and the Aβ protofibril showed that van der Waals interactions are dominant over the others. Thus, our results revealed that Curcumin interacts mainly with the hydrophobic core along with positively charged residues of the Aβ protofibril for effective destabilization. Thus, this structural information could be useful to design new inhibitors to control the aggregation of Aβ protofibrils in AD patients.","PeriodicalId":503011,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Dental Health","volume":"46 21","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140980824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rarely, IDC arises within a fibroadenoma, a benign breast tumor typically associated with younger women. This case report and literature review aim to highlight the diagnostic challenges and clinical implications of finding IDC within a fibroadenoma. Case Presentation: A 36-year-old female patient presented with a dolent palpable mass in the right breast. Initial mammography described normal fibroglandular structures without significant findings. However, subsequent imaging ultrasound identified an 18x14 mm oval formation at the 9 o'clock position in the right breast, categorized as BI-RADS 3. Further histopathological evaluation after a biopsy confirmed the presence of a fibroadenoma with invasive ductal carcinoma, classified as Grade III with perivascular and neural infiltration. Discussion: The coexistence of IDC within a fibroadenoma poses significant diagnostic challenges due to the benign appearance of fibroadenomas on standard imaging modalities. This case emphasizes the need for a thorough evaluation and possible biopsy of fibroadenomas that exhibit atypical features or changes over time. Conclusion: This report underscores the importance of vigilance and comprehensive diagnostic strategies in cases of fibroadenomas, especially in patients with unusual or evolving lesions. The review of literature confirms that although rare, the occurrence of IDC within fibroadenomas can have significant implications for treatment and prognosis.","PeriodicalId":503011,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Dental Health","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141001328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children are particularly vulnerable to the neurotoxicity of low-level, prolonged exposure to lead. Long-term effects of lead accumulation in children can damage them physically and mentally. We evaluated Blood Lead Levels (BLLs) among school children in Banda Aceh Municipality, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study with randomly selected participants was conducted in 2 junior high schools to determine the prevalence of elevated BLLs and gender differences. Among 130 children, aged 12-15, 32 (24,6%) of them had elevated BLLs based on CDC reference ≥3,5 µg/dl with a mean of BLLs 3,01 ±1.14, and 27 out of 32 (84.4%) with elevated BLLs were males. Male students had 5.62 times higher risk (CI:2.00-15.81) with elevated BLLs compared to female students (p=< 0.001). We concluded that the prevalence of elevated BLLs is high in both schools and there was a statistically significant difference in blood lead levels between male and female students. Other risk factors may affect the difference in blood lead levels among school children.","PeriodicalId":503011,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Dental Health","volume":"54 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141014000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It possesses a multitude of advantages in addition to potential disadvantages, including speech impairments, mastication restrictions, and oral agitation. Lingual braces can cause gingival hyperplasia and impact the health of the gums and periodontal tissues. This study conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA standards, specifically examining lingual orthodontic treatments that were the subject of randomized controlled trials. The study found that lingual brackets are more advantageous than buccal brackets for flat surfaces. Both types of brackets have been found to be associated with an elevation in plaque retention, gingival irritation, and S. mutans count. Because of an increased demand for adult orthodontic care, there are designed discrete treatment options such as lingual bracket systems. The demand is largely driven by appearance and cosmetics. Apparently, lingual brackets proved to be more efficacious for the prevention of caries on flat surfaces. Because the majority of street sellers are underprivileged, illiterate, and care little to nothing about food safety and hygiene, serious worries about the safety of these meals have been growing. This study evaluated the actions, attitudes, and knowledge of food vendors in Lafia Town, Nasarawa State, with regard to food safety. A basic random sampling procedure was used to choose a sample of 261 respondents for a descriptive cross-sectional survey design. A methodical questionnaire was employed to gather information. Descriptive statistics (frequency percentage, mean, and standard deviation) were used to analyse the data, and Chi-square was used to test hypotheses at the 5% significance level. The research results revealed that the participants' average age was 39.20 ± 9.536. Considering the respondents' general level of knowledge, most of 234 (89.7%) have a good comprehension of the significance of safety of food. Most of respondents, or 230 (88.1%), indicated that vendors of food had a generally positive attitude on food cleanliness. The results demonstrated that the most of respondents, 163 (62.5%), practise good food hygiene. A few of the factors that the study found affected the food vendors' practices of food hygiene were: 100 (38.3), forgetting to follow food hygiene guidelines, 0 (0.0%), not having monitoring teams visit, 22 (8.4%), and not receiving regular scores to check the method of food preparation and how it is served. The respondents' attitude and knowledge levels did not significantly correlate (Fisher's exact 0.918 and p=0.338). According to the study, even though food vendors' knowledge, attitudes, and practices seemed adequate, there is still a need for all parties involved to put in place regulatory measures to guarantee that food vendors adhere to standards appropriate for the public consumption and to continuously raise public awareness of the need of observing food hygiene practices and outbreaks of food-borne illnesses, which are common in our society.","PeriodicalId":503011,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Dental Health","volume":"58 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141019070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
