Periodically, different educational bodies and policies acknowledge the significance of fostering critical thinking skills among pupils. The NEP 2020 also prioritizes cultivating students' innovative capacities and more significant intellectual potential through education. The primary objective of this study is to present a distinctive teaching approach that facilitates the development of advanced cognitive abilities, such as parallel thinking, lateral thinking, innovative thinking, and analytical thinking among students. The Six Thinking Hats concept, developed by Edward De Bono, provides a pragmatic approach to implementing diverse tasks. Using six metaphorical hats of varying colors, one can investigate a variety of cognitive talents in a straightforward, interesting, and effective manner. Another essential objective of this method is to guide the cognitive process into six distinct domains, individually promoting and improving concentrated thought. It enables individuals to examine issues, choices, alternatives, and opportunities in a structured, precise, and analytical manner. The Six Thinking Hats technique is commonly employed in the corporate management sector due to its effectiveness in addressing conflicts and identifying the best options. Promoting outstanding thinking, collaboration, and interaction offers multiple benefits for pupils, educators, and administrators. This study thoroughly analyzes the Six Thinking Hats technique and its advantages in a learning environment.","PeriodicalId":502349,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Education and Social Studies","volume":" 36","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139619855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to investigate the effect of firm age on short term debt of firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange. This study was underpinned on form life cycle theory and pecking order theory. The study used secondary data which was obtained from the listed firms from 2007-2011. Panel data was used and the result showed a positive and significant relationship between firm age and short term debt of firm. From the results, the study recommends that management of companies should carefully consider the company’s age and the impact on debt maturity structure. They should also align short term debt strategies with company’s prospect and long term financial goals. Older firms with stable growth patterns may find short term debt suitable, while younger firms with higher growth expectations may benefit from other debt financing.","PeriodicalId":502349,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Education and Social Studies","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139624961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This mixed-methods study delved into the dynamics of international students' experiences in higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines, with focus on visa application, admission, enrolment, instructional delivery, awareness of support services, satisfaction levels, and coping mechanisms. Drawing insights from 234 international students across two universities in Baguio City, the findings underscore the positive perceptions of students in critical areas. Notably, the visa application, admission, enrolment efficiency, and instructional delivery all received strong agreement, indicating a high level of satisfaction among the international student population. A nuanced awareness pattern emerges, with a notable discrepancy between traditional support services (such as library materials and medical services) and online services (including networking events and free campus internet). While the overall satisfaction with support services is evident, the dissatisfaction with free campus internet services stands out as a specific concern. The findings indicate a diversity of strategies, from self-care and positive reframing to engagement with social media and seeking guidance from teachers and school counsellors used as coping strategies utilized by students. However, the prevalence of entertainment-focused coping mechanisms, such as watching movies and television, signals the importance of a holistic approach to student well-being beyond academic support.  Institutions are recommended to focus on refining communication strategies for online services and addressing specific concerns raised by students. Additionally, fostering a supportive environment that recognizes and accommodates the diverse needs of international students is crucial.","PeriodicalId":502349,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Education and Social Studies","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139625642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From a population of 522 students, using proportionate random sampling techniques sample size of 120 respondents was selected. A 4-point rating scale questionnaire with a reliability index value of 0.820 that had been validated by two measurement and evaluation specialists was used to collect the data. Two additional research assistants who work for the institutions helped administer the instrument to the respondents. 113 of the 120 administered copies were deemed suitable and sufficient for the descriptive mean and standard deviation data analysis, while the remaining 7 were deemed not useable. The study established a threshold of 2.50 for agreement or disagreement in response to research questions. To test the null hypotheses at significant levels of 0.05, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) was utilized. The findings demonstrated that factors such as parental influence, peer pressure, lack of career awareness, interests and personal preferences, and the social status of technology education programs all had a substantial impact on students' decision to enroll in the programs. It's recommended to reframe public opinions regarding the potential of technology programs through career awareness, advocacy initiatives, and public awareness campaigns.","PeriodicalId":502349,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Education and Social Studies","volume":" 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139626286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample data collected from 338 students in Zhaoqing University in China have been analyzed using structural equation modelling. The results reveal that facilitating conditions, performance expectancy and hedonic motivation have significant and positive impact on behavioural intention, but social influence and effort expectancy are not directly and significantly related to behavioral intention. Furthermore, behavioral intention, facilitating conditions and hedonic motivation directly correlate with students’ satisfaction with E-learning for English study. Performance expectancy indirectly influence students’ satisfaction mediated by behavioral intention. The six constructs of performance expectancy, hedonic motivation, facilitating conditions, effort expectancy, social influence, and behavioural intention account for 65.6 % of the total variance in Chinese students’ satisfaction with E-learning for English study.","PeriodicalId":502349,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Education and Social Studies","volume":" 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139142592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
