Although it is known that the light transmittance of these special glasses is low, this study is important in terms of knowing the light transmission rate in question and what kind of light problems it causes in practice, because these special glasses can be used for road lighting in some special climatic conditions, for some experiments, or for the use of light in architectural designs. For this reason, it is important to know these special glasses light transmittance properties. As the light transmittance of the luminaire glasses increases, the amount of light on the road also increases. In other words, the light source or glass type affects the lighting performance of the road. The luminaire affects the light emitted from glass-type luminaires and reduces the luminous flux falling from the lamp to the road surface. For this reason, the lamp’s luminous flux with the appropriate power should be increased according to the light transmittance factor of the glasses. Otherwise, the conditions, specified in the CIE road lighting standards, cannot be met. For this purpose, luminaire glasses with different properties that can be used in road lighting were analysed according to their light transmittance of single glass (4 mm), double glass (4 mm), electrochromic glass (reflective), electrochromic glass (absorbent), and thermochromics glass. As a result, it has been determined that when the luminaires used in road lighting are without glass or the luminaire glasses are made of different materials, the lamps luminous fluxes should be increased according to the transmittance coefficient of the glasses.","PeriodicalId":49907,"journal":{"name":"Light & Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135201182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Light engineering gradually moves rowards light design. This transformation has not just provided the latter with unlimited potential of design and art tools but has also provided it with a wide range of its capabilities, which makes it difficult for light design to self-identify to a certain extent. The processes provided light engineering with a variety of creative methods have dissolved the boundaries of the new profession still looking for self-identification. The contemporary trends in practical light design have allowed to identify the development direction more clearly, which allows us to enhance the education methodology. The conducted comparative analysis of the works by the leaders of international practice and professional education in the sphere of light design has identified a number of common trends, which allowed to set out the main methods of specialist training. A robust relationship between light design and theatre lighting and the use of the scenario-based principle of light modelling as well as the innovative experimental school laboratories equipped at the highest technical level and creative architectural and lighting design are becoming a most important component of future light designers training. The experience of training design is not only closely related to theory and methodology of technical aesthetic but also serves as a direct reflection of current design realia including artistic, media and information and engineering aspects.","PeriodicalId":49907,"journal":{"name":"Light & Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75010653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reznikov","doi":"10.33383/2020-045","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33383/2020-045","url":null,"abstract":"The subject matter of the article is the effect of a visual stimulation in the form of visual environment formed by dynamic laser images with preset fractality parameters on human. The structural and restorative characteristics of this environment are similar to those of the natural visual environment known for its restorative properties: it reduces the level of loading of sensory systems, recovers functional (general) state of humans, etc. Such analogue environment is formed using a laser optoelectronic RGB device designed with a non-conventional optical element, which transforms the structure of light beams from sources of radiation into an abstract light field with fractal dimensions of D = 1.3–1.5 optimal for perception, which is a positive criterion of evaluation of correspondence between this field and the natural visual environment. To estimate the level of the effect of the visual analogue environment, the electroencephalography (EEG) method was used which is based on analysis of activity of human brain α rhythm related to relaxed wakeful state.\u0000The estimation demonstrated that the proposed visual stimulation causes a valid positive effect as a light therapy instrument. The obtained percentage data on the difference between median values of α rhythm power in 18 derivations before and after the visual stimulation has demonstrated increase of α rhythm power by 40 % as compared to the baseline level. Minimal growth was equal to 17.8 % which corresponds to parietal derivation P3-A1 whereas the maximum growth was 51.4 % and corresponded to the mid-temporal derivation T4-A2. Also valid reductions of systolic and diastolic blood pressure (BP) and cardiac rate (CR) by 8.5 % and 10 % respectively were observed. The obtained data are indicative of reduction of anxiety level, unloading of sensory systems and positive dynamics of the effect of dynamic laser images on human functional state. The statistical analysis confirms validity of the positive dynamics of α rhythm power, BP and CR changes.","PeriodicalId":49907,"journal":{"name":"Light & Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85381804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Perdahci, Yahya Sogodok","doi":"10.33383/2021-080","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33383/2021-080","url":null,"abstract":"In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in traffic accidents in the tunnel region, especially around the threshold and exit zones, due to the inappropriate lighting system of these zones; leading to the loss of humans properties and lives. Therefore, lighting designers strive to improve the illumination issues of the threshold and exit zones which bring about “black hole” and “white hole” effects, respectively. Several solutions are proposed: solar optical fibre lighting system as a natural lighting system and LED, fluorescent lighting system as the artificial lighting system. This paper aims to compare the natural and artificial lighting system to show which lighting system is better and the best solution to solve these issues. The previous study in the Huashuyan tunnel in China, where natural light, solar optical fibre was used to illuminate the threshold zone, is simulated in LITSTAR4D software using a customized HCL-TN LED luminaire of LITPA Сompany. The simulation result is compared with the previous result obtained when the solar optical fibre is used. The simulation outcome gave a satisfying result with an average luminance of 91.15 cd/m2, which is higher than the average luminance required by the threshold zone. However, it is less when compared to the average luminance of 181.31 cd/m2 produced by the solar optical fibre system. The overall uniformity of 0.42 is above the requirements in the CIE88:2004 standards.","PeriodicalId":49907,"journal":{"name":"Light & Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81052796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
