There would be nearly 500 million older people in China by 2050 if 60 years and over is used as a criterion for defining the elderly population. Population aging, accompanied by large-scale urban-rural population mobility, poses many challenges to urban development and impacts traditional concepts and models of old age. The separation of the elderly from their customary society may lead to fragmentation and atomization of the individual, posing a severe test to their social participation and physical and mental health. In this context, public cultural services, with their unique social and cultural functions, play a unique role in promoting the concept of positive aging. This paper will start from the theoretical foundation of positive aging, explore the cultural dilemmas faced by the aging group, and summarize several suggestions for the development of public cultural services through the case studies of the construction of age-friendly cities in New York and Shanghai.","PeriodicalId":498606,"journal":{"name":"Scientific and social research","volume":"105 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141666127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is found that single women have constructed a “self-centered” emotional interaction principle in their emotional world after they are free from the constraints of the traditional system, and they show a negative emotional attitude towards love. To make up for the lack of emotion, single women choose to seek substitutes to obtain emotional satisfaction. Interpretation of women’s lives from an emotional perspective can further explore the deep-rooted reasons for the increase in China’s non-marriage rate.","PeriodicalId":498606,"journal":{"name":"Scientific and social research","volume":"102 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141666446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the increasing number of elderly people in China, it is of great significance to explore how to promote the re-employment of the younger elderly, fully develop and use the power resources of the elderly, and relieve the pressure of social economy and family. Based on the relevant literature research, the paper constructs the integration model of the factors affecting the re-employment intention of young urban elderly people and further puts forward several hypotheses. The research suggests that society should change the social consciousness, give full play to the leading role of the government, improve the legislative and institutional system, and encourage enterprises to actively employ the elderly.","PeriodicalId":498606,"journal":{"name":"Scientific and social research","volume":"20 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141664990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The study conducted a survey using the Chinese version of the self-rating scale of systemic family dynamics (SSFD) and the Center for Epidemiological Studies depression scale (CES-D) on 3,122 college students from Sichuan, Chongqing, and Guizhou. Exploratory factor analysis was performed on the items of SSFD by SPSS, followed by confirmatory factor analysis by Amos. Results: Based on the factor analysis, the systemic logic dimension of the original scale was removed, retaining three dimensions: family atmosphere, individualization, and disease concepts. The number of items was reduced from 23 to 14. The revised scale’s overall Cronbach’s alpha was 0.914, with dimension-specific Cronbach’s alpha ranging from 0.689 to 0.905. All dimensions and the total score of the revised SSFD showed significant negative correlations with depression (-0.193**, -0.237**, -0.086**, -0.168**). The confirmatory factor analysis showed good fit indices (GFI = 0.943, IFI = 0.950, CFI = 0.950, NFI = 0.944, RMSEA = 0.069, SMRA = 0.037). Conclusion: The revised SISFD scale features a clear structure and meets measurement standards, making it suitable for measuring systemic family dynamics among southwest China college students.","PeriodicalId":498606,"journal":{"name":"Scientific and social research","volume":"56 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141665032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increase in the phenomenon of daughters’ elderly care has made the idea of converging son’s and daughter’s roles gradually accepted. The phenomenon of daughters’ elderly care reshapes the family’s expectation of daughters’ roles and the establishment of emotional communication between the married daughters and their parents’ families. The article explains the formation of the phenomenon of children’s assimilation through the change of the father’s concept of old age, the children’s division of labor, and the improvement of women’s status in the family. Under the influence of modernization and transformation, Chinese families have formed a new mode of support in which children participate together.","PeriodicalId":498606,"journal":{"name":"Scientific and social research","volume":"55 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141663238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
