Moya","doi":"10.1016/S1135-3074(10)70023-5","DOIUrl":"10.1016/S1135-3074(10)70023-5","url":null,"abstract":"<div><h3>Background</h3><p>The Foundation mission is to alleviate the food basic needs of social attending the nourishment, particularly children; through the procurement donors to contribute the necessary goods suitable for consumption, but that are not marketable.</p><p>The objective is perform a global diagnosis of the Mendoza Food Bank Foundation of Argentine to analyze optimization possibilities.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>A global diagnosis has been performed, introducing management's tools in order to locate the causes of problems and the solution. It was analyzed the logistic of Foundation. It was suggested improvement for this situation.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Even though the Foundation's activity is very valuable on account of its goals. One of the Foundation major weaknesses lies in the lack of external communication. So, in spite of having a very good relationship with the media, it is an aspect that has not been sufficiently emphasized by the Foundation, partly because of the lack of human resources. García-Serrano","doi":"10.1016/S1135-3074(10)70024-7","DOIUrl":"10.1016/S1135-3074(10)70024-7","url":null,"abstract":"<div><h3>Objectives</h3><p>This is a research article about culture on maternal and child health and nutrition in an Indian group of the Wixarika ethnia.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>Based on action-oriented participant research methodology, qualitative research techniques, like deep interviews and ethnographic observation were used to construct a proposal of ethnocultural education of indegenous multiplying agents and establish an intercultural program of surveillance and self health care at this vulnerable group. The educational process it is sustained on the conscience pedagogy.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Due to the prolonged breast-feeding, pregnancy is detected late. Pregnant women do not have particular feeding practices other than non-pregnant. Few women are handled in prenatal care. Breastfeeding is by spontaneous demand and long-lasting, usually determined with the birth of another brother. Thus, the impact of a community nutrition program depends largely on the effective integration of interdisciplinary teams in the target communities. For a community nutrition program to succeed, professionals must work together efficiently, going beyond the traditional limits of their disciplines. It is necessary to build a interdisciplinary team, recruiting the active participation of paraprofessionals, members of the institutions involved, and community agents. Many studies have indicated the value of partnerships: community with academic, public and private institutions that have provided the opportunity to play its role, as in the methodological research process and the implementation and evaluation of programmes. The participation of the State to support the process to the success of the research is also needed. The school of Nutrition and dietetics at Universidad de los Andes has achieved successful experiences in community research, such as “Las agendas papa y plátano” <em>(</em>The Agendas Pope and banana) with the participation of six faculties and governmental bodies. Using the methodology participation - action, which allowed to encourage active participation, integration and community organization. The purpose of this study is to carry out a reflexive analysis about that nutritional epidemiological superposition.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>A critical and discussion review has been made according to the main results observed by means of a descriptive cross-sectional bibliographic study.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The 32 selected papers illustrate that Latin America is living a period of transition between the famine and the non- transmissible illness related to nutrition. Malnutrition persists with an increase of obesity registered in all the countries and affecting mainly women and children. Nutritional problems are determining a high morbility and they are one of the firsts mortality causes.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>The articles studied are heterogeneous in methodology, field, time and objectives considered, although all of them decribe the evolution and magnitude of the problem in the different Latin American countries. This work aims to analyze the characteristics of the health information published in the two major newspapers in Venezuela for a decade.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>Investigated the characteristics of journalism in health that has developed in Venezuela in the sections of two newspapers of wide circulation along a decade. We analyzed 522 reports: 246 of El Universal and 276 of El Nacional during the years 1996 to 2006.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Preliminary results that show the trivialization of the information and superficiality in handling the issues. {"title":"Comunidades protagonistas en el logro de estilos de vida saludables","authors":"Z.
