 Study Design: The cross-sectional survey method was used in this study, along with a descriptive research design.
 Place and Duration of the Study: The study was conducted in 4 upazilas (sub-district), namely Bagha, Lalpur, Khjjuria and Dumuria, under the 4 districts Rajshahi, Natore, Jessore and Khulna in Bangladesh, from November 2020 to March 2021.
 Methodology: Out of 133 farmers, 97 were selected as samples using a random sampling technique. Data collected using a structured questionnaire were subjected to descriptive analysis, including frequency count, percentage, and mean for describing the level of selected variables.
 Results: Rajshahi had a maximum area covered by date palm trees (12.02 ha), the highest number of trees (1129), and the highest amount of produced gur (14454 kg) compared to other districts. The greatest percentages of farmers were old (43.3%) and had a high annual income (42.3%). All the farmers used seed as propagating material. In case of constraints, ‘decrease of number of gachi’ ranked first followed by ‘adulteration of gur’ second and ‘decrease of number of date palm trees’ third.
 Conclusion: It can be concluded that a decreased number of gachi is one of the major constraints for juice and gur production in Bangladesh. Continuous training and management of date palm trees, as well as the production of juice and gur with scientific technology, will improve farmers’ incomes and livelihoods.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136336941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A crucial national resource is thought to be information. Agriculture has a significant role in the development of the economy. A rise in farm production as a result of agricultural technological advancement boosted the farmer's income and well-being. The major goal of agricultural research is to increase the yields from increasingly dispersed landholdings in a healthy and sustainable way. A growing population necessitates more agricultural output to meet their needs. A requirement for encouraging farming and raising agricultural output is agricultural research.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135247775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present investigation was carried out to assess the dynamics of self-efficacy, a social cognitive factor with respect to successful farmer training. The research was undertaken in the state of Himachal Pradesh with a total of 333 farmers who had been a part of training facilitated by Extension Education. The data was collected using a questionnaire through telephonic as well as face to face interviews. The data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The reliability was measured using Cronbach’s Alpha test. Statistical tools such as t-test, Correlation, Regression analysis and Sobel test was used to draw conclusion from the data. The results show that males have higher self-efficacy than females which determines their training experience. It was found that self-efficacy is positively correlated to learning and transfer of training of farmers to their farms. Regression analysis also supported the impact of self-efficacy on learning and extent of transfer. Finally, a mediating role of self-efficacy was also established between learning and transfer of training. The research findings presented in the paper holds relevance to a context wider than the research location of Himachal Pradesh where it was undertaken, and provides a new insight to the field of extension training. This research helps researchers and practitioners to view trainings from a different perspective that would ensures its success.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135579516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their two fundamental characteristics, namely type of occupation and that of migration, were analyzed in order to explore whether there existed a link with their level of satisfaction with public space. Overall, the survey sample was relatively satisfied with most types of public space in Hanoi. However, a fairly high proportion of the migrant workers expressed their dissatisfaction with sports playgrounds (either free or charged). The findings also revealed no relationship between type of migration or occupation and the sample’s level of satisfaction with public space.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135537577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Owing to maximum area under cultivation in the district, Deesa, Dantiwada, and Lakhani were purposefully chosen for the study. A multistage sampling method was applied and a total of 120 watermelon farmers, 20 intermediaries, and 20 consumers were selected for data collection. The basic tabular approach and the percentage method were the statistical tools used for data analysis. To estimate the cost of cultivation of the watermelon crop, the cost concept was applied. The marketing effectiveness of the channel was examined using Shepherd's and Acharya's approaches. The watermelon cultivation required a total of 78 man days of labour, including 58 family labours and 20 hired labours. Cost A was ₹19671.95, Cost B was ₹17172.05, and Cost C1 was ₹186087.15, for a total cultivation cost (cost C2) per hectare of ₹204695.87. This resulted in the overall cost of production per quintal of ₹537.82. According to the findings, the majority of farmers (61.67%) sell to contractors, followed by retailers (22.50%) and direct customers (15.83%). It was found that channel I had the highest marketing efficiency (Shepherd's method) i.e., 33.67, followed by channel II with 9.87 and channel III with 5.97. The most effective channel in terms of marketing efficiency (Acharya's method) was channel I, with an efficiency of 33.67, followed by channels II and III with an efficiency of 1.33 and 0.76 respectively. This demonstrated that watermelon farming was profitable in the research area.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135537753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such approaches are far more important and essential for women farmers who are overburdened and hard pressed for time. Realizing the ever increasing role of women in agriculture and the need for empowering them in technological domain, the present study was conducted to study the level of knowledge of Farm Women Knowledge Group (FWKG) members on different aspects of selected ICT tool, to find out the level of use of ICT tool by the FWKG members and to study the impact of intervention programmes on knowledge and use of selected ICT tool among the FWKG members. Rural women having farming as an occupation were selected purposively. Six Farm Women Knowledge Group (FWKG) comprising ten members each were formed for the study. Intervention programmes were conducted for the members of FWKG including awareness programme, training and workshop which were home based, farm based and community based Programmes. The study reveals that post intervention levels of knowledge and use of selected ICT were better than pre intervention level among the FWKG members. High level of knowledge increased from 20.00 per cent to 48.33 per cent whereas low level of knowledge decreased from 45.00 per cent to 6.66 per cent. Similarly in case of high level of use increased from 6.66 per cent to 48.33 per cent. Knowledge and use of selected ICT tool was positively related in both pre and post-intervention phase. Paired ‘t’ test implies that there was gain in knowledge after the intervention programmes. Similarly significant difference in use of selected ICT tool between the pre and post intervention was also found. It may be concluded that such interventions may increase the level of knowledge and use of selected ICT tool and such model may be replicated in other areas at micro level.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135537109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The rural youth population of India is slowly deserting their origin and swarming toward the urban areas. This has several implications for the future of Indian agriculture and India’s food security. Experts felt that there is a need to retain rural youths in agriculture because they can play a significant role in ensuring food security if they are encouraged to involve in agriculture farming. Having an insight into the rationale behind the retention of rural youth in agriculture is hence crucial. Bearing in mind this point of view, a study was conducted among 300 rural youths with an agricultural background. The retention of rural youth has been studied by developing a suitable measurement methodology that quantifies their retention in agriculture. The Retention Index was developed and the composite Retention Index worked out was 73.00. On the basis of the results of retention index these indicators are very important in the development of projects or programmes by policymakers, development agencies and extension functionaries should consider these indicators while preparing and planning programs or projects for the development of rural youth.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134960082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
