The United Nations has labeled this surge in gender-based violence cases as the \"Shadow Pandemic,\" particularly noting the alarming rise within homes. This research seeks to comprehend the scale of crimes against women in India and compare the situations before and after the COVID-19 outbreak. To achieve this, the study employs a descriptive research design and quantitative analysis, drawing mainly from secondary sources like the National Crime Records Bureau. The analysis sheds light on various forms of violence against women, including rape-murder, dowry deaths, abetment to suicide, and other types of abusive behaviors. During the lockdown period, there was a significant decrease in reported cases, with the exception of cyber-crimes, which saw a notable 45% increase. However, after the lockdown, the number of crimes against women rose once again. The study underscores the urgent necessity to address and prevent such offenses to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of women.","PeriodicalId":486952,"journal":{"name":"BSSS journal of social work","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136300140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The number of plastic pens introduced to the market each year in the nation ranges from 1,600 to 2,400 million and 91% of the plastic waste produced by these pens is not recycled. We still use a staggering number of disposable pens despite switching to technology and going paperless in recent years. The throwaway culture of modern society has ensured that we no longer have an emotional connection to a pen or pencil. For generations, pen was a symbol of learning, but now it is just another piece of plastic trash. This study uses a quantitative approach to learn about consumers' willingness to accept eco-friendly pens as a legitimate substitute for plastic pens. This study emphasizes the Pen Drive effort, a campaign to discourage the use of plastic pens, as well as ways to recycle used pens through Terra Cycle and educate people about using eco-friendly pens.","PeriodicalId":486952,"journal":{"name":"BSSS journal of social work","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136301304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emerging adults (18 to 25 years old) enrolled in various colleges and institutions throughout Indian states were chosen at random for the study. The urban data points were the focus. Data collection was done using a structured questionnaire and a quantitative methodology. Romantic connections and the amount of time spent on educational/career advancement are two significant themes of the paper. It discusses the typical length of romantic partnerships as well as the variations in romantic relationship experiences between male and female participants. Certain statistical measures, such as frequency distribution and measures of connection between socio-demographic and different criteria variables, were utilised to describe the results. Resilience is considered a factor which enables employees to find resources to help them deal, respond productively, and adjust to stressful situations Employee resilience refers to the ability of the employees to bounce back to normalcy and be better after any disruption or disturbance at work. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe, employees were affected. Their routine was disturbed, there was widespread confusion and they faced challenges in maintaining the work-life balance. Health issues were also on the rise with the changing pattern of life. The study looks into the employee resilience of 50 respondents from Kerala who work in various designations in different areas of work. Employee resilience is assessed using Nicholson McBride Resilience Questionnaire (NMRQ) developed by Clarke and Nicholson in 2010. The scale has 12 items distributed across the Likert scale. The study also looks into the work-life balance of the employees and the factors contributing to work-life balance. Challenges faced during the lockdown while commuting to work were also looked into in the study. Employee resilience is an important aspect to be studied especially in times when the nature of work has gone through drastic changes. Enhancing the level of resilience of the employees can not only benefit the employee but also the organisation too.","PeriodicalId":486952,"journal":{"name":"BSSS journal of social work","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136300139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
