In the fight against political disinformation, content verification organizations (CVOs) act as guiding lights of reality. CVOs use a variety of tactics to combat false information, including fact-checking, writing articles to refute claims, and posting clarifications on social media. Additionally, CVOs carry out in-depth research, illuminating the widespread impact of disinformation on voter opinion and election outcomes. CVOs have amassed sizable fan bases and have a favorable influence on election processes and public opinion. According to studies, a single fact-check may influence up to 100,000 people, with 10% of respondents changing their political opinions as a result. Notably, 5% of votes cast in the 2019 Indian Lok Sabha elections went to candidates whose claims had been confirmed by CVOs. Despite their admirable efforts, CVOs confront obstacles, most of which are brought on by inadequate finance, which limits their ability to successfully combat false information. Significant challenges are also posed by political meddling and social media platform rules. Nevertheless, CVOs consistently work to combat political disinformation, enabling people to make wise judgments. Abuh, Ugbedeojo Emmanuel Omale","doi":"10.59231/sari7654","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.59231/sari7654","url":null,"abstract":"Traditional doctors have been utilizing the advantages of the potency of natural plants in the treatment and prevention of several ailments for decades without them or their patience knowing the active ingredients responsible for the potency. Hence the need to evaluate and understand the medicinal bio – active substances present in plants. This work analyses the phytochemical substances and the anti – oxidant activities of the roots and leaves of citrus aurantifolia. The plant parts were collected, dried, pulverized and extracted in absolute ethanol. The extracts collected were analyzed for bio – active substances and antioxidant activities. The results show the presence of alkaloids, carbohydrates, glycosides, saponins, phenols, tannins, flavonoids, protein and amino acid in both the roots and leaves of citrus aurantifolia. The KMnO4 scavenging effects of the plant parts show them to displayed effective potentials as anti – oxidants as the % KMnO4 radical scavenging competes favorably; (root – 85.60% and leaves – 89.88%) with the reference ascorbic acid (83.82%). This indicate that the plant parts can scavenge free radical from the body. Timescale and budget are the prime limitation of this research study. In order to curb this trend, especially from industrial effluents, a non – toxic, biodegradable and environmentally compatible dye from nature have to be sourced. In view of these, the root of anacardium occidentale was extracted of its dye and applied on fabrics alone and in the presence of mordants and also applied as colorant on food, cosmetics and alcoholic drinks. The root of anacardium occidantale collected was dried at room temperature and pulverized. 200g was weighed and extracted in 300mL absolute ethanol. Alum, K2Cr2O7 and FeSO4 were the fixatives used. Pre – mordanting, Post – mordanting and Simultaneous mordanting methods were adopted. Varied color hue was imparted on the fabrics and their fastness properties were tested. Alum mordant showed superiority to fastness in simultaneous mordanting in wash with mild soap and fastness to light. Pre – mordanted method showed K2Cr2O7 mordant to retain color in both wash in mild soap and fastness to light. FeSO4 mordant retained its color in simultaneous mordanting method across the fastness test displaying superiority over the rest mordant. An excellent color was imparted on food, cosmetic and alcoholic drink. The study examined the effect of Jos crisis management mechanism on national security in Nigeria. The research works methodology adopted descriptive and Field survey method for collection data from primary and secondary sources, through unstructured interviews and archival materials respectively. Data collected were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage which were presented with the aids of tables and charts. The paper work established that there is a direct, strong and sufficient relationship between conflict management and national security in Nigeria. It also revealed that there are some challenges militating against the management of Jos crisis to enhance national security in Nigeria. Some of the identified challenges include poor crisis monitoring and intelligence gathering, insufficient public support and poor governance. Others are logistic constrain and non-implementation of Commission of Inquiry reports.
