This paper considers 60 historical and cultural districts from the China Central Television documentary series <em>Nostalgia in Mind</em> to investigate nostalgia. We specifically introduce place narratives and analyze the dimensions and connotations of nostalgia culture. Our empirical results reveal four dimensions associated with nostalgia, namely time, space, memory, and emotion. In addition, we explore various factors affecting nostalgia (e.g., nostalgia subjects, nostalgia carriers, nostalgia touchpoints, and nostalgia emotions), which further shape historical and cultural districts' nostalgia culture. To better understand this type of culture, we build a theoretical framework along the dimensions of instrumental–expressive and concrete–abstract. This framework contributes to a richer understanding of the nature and impact of nostalgia and serves as a reference for tourism destination marketing and management of historical and cultural districts in an urbanization context.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":48141,"journal":{"name":"Tourism Management Perspectives","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":7.3,"publicationDate":"2024-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142147872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The nudging effect of default options on consumers' behavior has been demonstrated in marketing. Whether default options can be as a powerful tool for service failure recovery is underexplored. Thus, this study aims to explore whether the default option can improve tourists' willingness to continue using the chatbot after service failure. Hypotheses were tested using three experiments, results showed that the opt-out default option can increase higher tourists' continuous use intention by decreasing tourists' affective effort. This effect is moderated by service recovery and emoticon. Specifically, opt-out default option is more effective to improve continuous usage intention when using informational help and pleading emoticon. These findings enriched theories on chatbot service failure and recovery and provide insight for default options using in chatbot under tourism and hospitality industry.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":48141,"journal":{"name":"Tourism Management Perspectives","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":7.3,"publicationDate":"2024-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142099675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, limited research comprehensively reveals these benefits from the perspective of perceived value, considering children's diverse roles in various social contexts. Employing a family systems approach, this study interviewed 35 parents to investigate their perceived educational value of family travel for their children across three levels: the individual level (children's roles as individuals), the family level (children's roles within the family), and the societal level (children's roles within social contexts outside the family). Employing a hybrid thematic analysis, this study uncovers six overarching themes across these three levels. To address this deficiency this study focused on the visual softening of a Chinese traditional village to enhance visitor experiences by planting vegetation consistent with cultural and heritage principles. It does so by using empirical data from the case study site of Lu Village in China. The study is directed toward explaining how a fusion of nature possessing cultural values might visually improve a village destination to make it more attractive for tourists. It represents a little explored aspect of the policy of “cultural consumption” currently espoused by the Chinese authorities, yet one that is low cost for Chinese villages. However, application of the policy requires planning of routes, locations, and messaging to provide information for tourists and maintain privacy for residents. Thematic analysis was conducted based on 31 in-depth interviews with managers from different-sized hospitality organizations (15 men, 16 women). Results shows that employment practices tend to focus more on attracting talent rather than retaining it. The study emphasizes how sector characteristics, especially company size, play a crucial role in shaping both formal and informal talent retention tools, emphasizing the need for gender-specific tailoring. Hence, this study examines the effects of firm-level political risk on corporate investments of 251 U.S. HT over the period 2002–2022. It further explores the moderating role of asset tangibility and corporate governance. Using fixed-effect regression analyses, the study finds that firm-level political risk negatively impacts corporate investments in the HT industry. Results reveal that asset tangibility and ownership concentration help mitigate the negative effect of firm-level political risk, while institutional ownership exacerbates this negative effect. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis with 30 entrepreneurs, the study reveals that despite the increasing demand for sustainability, entrepreneurs often prioritise other business concerns. However, findings highlight that implementing regulations at the food festival can create learning opportunities that influence entrepreneurs' psychological mechanisms, leading to a favourable attitude, intention and behaviour towards sustainable practice. Drawing on Institutional Theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour, the study develops an Integrated Model of Institutions and Planned Actions, shedding light on the institutionalisation process.
