These investments occur under varying conditions, including levels of political risk. Hence, this study examines the effects of firm-level political risk on corporate investments of 251 U.S. HT over the period 2002–2022. It further explores the moderating role of asset tangibility and corporate governance. Using fixed-effect regression analyses, the study finds that firm-level political risk negatively impacts corporate investments in the HT industry. Results reveal that asset tangibility and ownership concentration help mitigate the negative effect of firm-level political risk, while institutional ownership exacerbates this negative effect. Given that corporate investments are the backbone of the sustainable growth of HT firms, this research provides important implications for policymakers and practitioners in their attempts to reduce the negative effect of political risk on corporate investments.

","PeriodicalId":48141,"journal":{"name":"Tourism Management Perspectives","volume":"53 ","pages":"Article 101290"},"PeriodicalIF":7.3,"publicationDate":"2024-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142048531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis with 30 entrepreneurs, the study reveals that despite the increasing demand for sustainability, entrepreneurs often prioritise other business concerns. However, findings highlight that implementing regulations at the food festival can create learning opportunities that influence entrepreneurs' psychological mechanisms, leading to a favourable attitude, intention and behaviour towards sustainable practice. Drawing on Institutional Theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour, the study develops an Integrated Model of Institutions and Planned Actions, shedding light on the institutionalisation process. Additionally, the 5Ps typology captures the diverse range of entrepreneurial attitudes towards sustainable practices. These insights provide valuable implications for policymakers and practitioners seeking to promote sustainable entrepreneurship in the restaurant industry.

","PeriodicalId":48141,"journal":{"name":"Tourism Management Perspectives","volume":"53 ","pages":"Article 101298"},"PeriodicalIF":7.3,"publicationDate":"2024-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142048532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study, testing a cognitive appraisal theoretical model, explores how the quality of interactions (situation) between residents and tourists influences emotional solidarity (appraisal), which explains perceived emotions associated with tourists, and how these, in turn, affect residents' desire to engage in specific behaviors with tourists. Survey data were collected from a sample of Fijian residents (N = 407) in six tourism destinations using a mall-intercept method and analyzed using co-variance-based structural equation modelling. This study aims to apply a mixed method approach to explore the relationship between HLLs and tourists' behavioral intention. Using a case study of the Sotto Portico streets of Haikou, it is found that (i) the constructive authenticity of HLLs is positively related to behavioral intention; (ii) self-congruity and tourist involvement play multiple mediating roles between the constructive authenticity of HLLs and behavioral intention; and (iii) from Peirce's semiotic perspective, HLLs, its constructive authenticity, self-congruity, tourist involvement, and behavioral intention are five elements that establish two triadic relations. This study contributes to existing linguistic landscape literature by investigating causal and semiotic relationship between HLLs and behavioral intention. This study adopts the participant-generated photo-elicitation method to explore the tourist gaze at the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Thematic analysis of children's photographic narratives reveals that they gaze upon the suffering of others. When interpreting these experiences of suffering, children form moral judgments about what and who caused the suffering. The findings reveal four distinct types of moral gaze: historical moral gaze, interpretive moral gaze, empathic moral gaze, and judgmental moral gaze. The use of participant-generated photo-elicitation method enables children to produce, select, and interpret their own photographs, thereby giving voice to their experiences. We employ Urry's “tourist gaze” concept, integrating it with a comprehensive analytical framework addressing tourists' and local attendees' sensory experiences in daily food events at culturally significant institutions like Greek Tavernes. Our study illuminates the dominance of tourists' expectations, preconceived imaginaries, and sensory engagements, revealing potential challenges to sustained cultural traditions and culinary heritage. While the “tourist gaze” may perpetuate static cultural dynamics, we identify “tourist (and resident) taste” as a counter-mechanism. Employing a constructivist grounded theory method, the study focused on two UNESCO inscribed transnational religious festivals attended by an Ethiopian diaspora community. Through this research, six dimensions of spirituality were identified: attachment to God, spiritual reward, spiritual growth, self-transcendence, religious knowledge, and sense of meaning. Each of these dimensions contributed to various domains of well-being, such as personal growth, environmental mastery, engagement, and positive relationships. The study also discovered that the experience of spirituality is influenced by individuals' roles and levels of engagement within the festivals. Theme parks present a unique context where interacting with cute mascots is a central draw for visitors, yet these can become a source of crisis. This study aims to examine the impact of theme park cute mascots on the public's forgiveness in online crises and employs the Shanghai Disneyland LinaBell crisis as a case. Results from social media analysis and interviews revealed that the perceived cuteness of the mascot, combined with crisis attributions and the public's sympathy, influenced their forgiveness. A survey involving 495 participants was employed to test the hypotheses. Results identified a significant moderating role of the perceived cuteness of mascots that weakens the influence of the internal locus attribution on public forgiveness.
