Aim of the work: intended to evaluate the safety , benefits, and consequences of laparoscopic vs open hysterectomy for benign gynecological diseases. Methodology: 50 cases were subjected to a thorough medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, abdominal ultrasound, and biopsies for suspicious pathology. cases separated into 2 groups of equal size. The 1st for trans-abdominal hysterectomy and the 2nd for complete LH. After surgery, patients were monitored for 6 months. Statistics obtained include surgical time, blood loss, comorbidities, and hospital stay duration. Results: Substantial improvements in low parity and low caesarean deliveries were observed in the laparoscopic group. In the laparoscopic group, adenomyosis was the most prevalent indication for hysterectomy (forty percent), followed by fibroids (twenty-eight percent). In the open group, fibroids were the most common indication (48percent), followed by adenomyosis (32percent). Contrasted to open hysterectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy resulted in a much shorter duration of surgery (55 minutes vs. 70 minutes) and substantially less blood loss. The length of hospital stay was considerably shorter in the laparoscopic group as opposed to the open group (Mean± SD : 45.120 14.4 vs 59.52 ± 20.92 hours). Conclusion: When treating women with benign gynecological disorders, laparoscopic hysterectomy is preferable to abdominal hysterectomy because it is safe and has a higher success rate.","PeriodicalId":474339,"journal":{"name":"Al-Azhar International Medical Journal (Print)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135448193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The majority of ruptures happen when doing sports. Aim and objectives; to compare between percutaneous and open repair of acute Achilles tendon rupture in active young patients who want to go back to resume activity following the repair. Patients and methods:30 participants were included in this prospective comparative research and randomly assigned to groups A and B. (each consists of 15 patients). While group A got percutaneous repair, group B had open repair. Hospitals affiliated with Al-Azhar University were the study's site (Al-Hussien University Hospital) as well as Zagazig General Hospital. The duration of the study was eighteen months. Result; No statistically substantial variation was detected between the two techniques as regard functional results (full weight-bearing, return to activity, muscle strength, and AOFAS score) at last follow-up. However, patients in the percutaneous group were able to achieve significantly larger degrees of ankle plantar flexion compared to the open group. Conclusion; at the long-term checkup, there is no variation between percutaneous and open Achilles tendon repairs. Although both groups had functionally equivalent results, open surgery of the Achilles tendon was linked with more wound problems.","PeriodicalId":474339,"journal":{"name":"Al-Azhar International Medical Journal (Print)","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136216857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herniogrhaphy, diagnostic pneumoperitoneum, and intra-operative laparoscopy are the procedures that have been proposed to reduce the number of negative contralateral side explorations in children presenting with a unilateral congenital inguinal hernia. However, most of them are invasive methods. In our study we suggest using the ultrasonography in detection of the inguinal hernia with confirmation by laparoscope. Aim of the work: we aimed to assess the Sensitivity and specificity of US in the diagnosis of occult hernia after confirmation by laparoscopy. Patient and methods: Our study is considered an interventional prospective study that was done on 100 children with unilateral inguinal hernia. all patients underwent ultrasonography on both groins. Ultrasound was considered positive if the length of patent processus vaginalis was more than 20 mm or the internal ring diameter was more than 4mm. After the ultrasound, all patients were prepared for laparoscopic exploration to confirm the hernia diagnosis, and to treat the clinical hernia. Results: By comparing the US and laparoscopic results of symptomatic sides, we found that all cases that were diagnosed by the US to be positive were confirmed by laparoscopy. In asymptomatic sides, from 9 cases who were diagnosed by the US as positive hernia; the laparoscope confirmed them. However, from 91 cases that were diagnosed by the US to be negative, the laparoscope diagnosed one of them to be positive. The sensitivity and specificity of the US were found to be 100% in the symptomatic side. However, in the asymptomatic side; sensitivity, and specificity were 90%, 100% respectively. Conclusion: US is a good tool for the diagnosis and early detection of pediatric hernias","PeriodicalId":474339,"journal":{"name":"Al-Azhar International Medical Journal (Print)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135498456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clomiphene citrate & letrozole are commonly used to induce ovulation, although they are antiestrogenic. Aim and objectives; to assess the role of clomiphene citrate & letrozole in helping ovulation and conception to occur and their impact on the receptivity of the endometrium of polycystic ovarian syndrome patients, Subjects and methods; In this study there were two groups of anovulatory PCOS patients each group included 50 patients who attended Al-Hussein University Hospital outpatient infertility and Gynecology clinic during the period from March 2022 till September 2022. All studied cases were subjected to: Detailed history taking, Thorough general & pelvic examination and Transvaginal Ultrasonography, Result; There was high variation between the two studied groups regarding endometrial vascular indices on day 21 of menstruation post-treatment.
