The research employs a two-stage method to evaluate firms’ digitalization processes. In the first stage, keywords related to digitalization are extracted from annual reports through text mining, and digital transformation strategies in five different sectors are analyzed. Based on these analyses, the return of digitalization (ROD) ratio is developed to assess the effects of digital transformation. In the second stage, a panel data analysis is conducted to examine the impact of digitalization and the ROD ratio on a firm’s performance. The research findings clearly indicate that digital transformation generates positive effects on firms’ financial performance. It also appears that digitalization provides a competitive advantage, particularly in areas such as operational efficiency and brand value. Firms with a high ROD ratio, which can be used as an indicator of digital transformation investments, demonstrate stronger financial performance. The ROD ratio has emerged as a critical indicator that effectively measures the financial outcomes of digital transformation.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 5","pages":"Article 100795"},"PeriodicalIF":15.5,"publicationDate":"2025-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144892101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A SWOT matrix distils convergent concerns—weaponised disinformation, privacy erosion, and the detection arms race—alongside under-explored opportunities in education, therapy, and creative industries. To test whether these scholarly themes resonate with citizens, a computer-assisted web survey (N = 7,083) measured perceived risks and benefits across 10 specific scenarios for each theme. Correspondence analysis and Bonferroni-adjusted means reveal a pronounced age gradient for benefits, whereas risk perceptions vary by country—younger cohorts are noticeably less alarmed only in Sweden, France, and Czechia. Geographically, Dutch, German, British, and Italian publics prove the most enthusiastic: the United Kingdom (UK) couples similar enthusiasm with markedly higher risk vigilance, whereas Czech and Swedish respondents remain consistently sceptical, underscoring a broad, though imperfect, west/south versus central/north divide. The Netherlands, Germany, the UK, and Italy value pro-social applications (i.e., realistic crisis drills, public-interest campaigns, and therapeutic ‘mental-health’ avatars), with the Netherlands topping four benefit items and Italy favouring commercial/entertainment uses such as virtual brand ambassadors. By contrast, Czech and Swedish respondents assign uniformly low benefit scores. Juxtaposed with risk perceptions, the UK and Czechia register the greatest vigilance, Sweden the most relaxed, and others intermediate. Divergence seems associated with digital literacy levels and regulatory maturity. The survey reveals a statistically and practically significant gap between perceived risks and benefits: across all seven countries, respondents, on average, rate risks higher than advantages. Regression estimates indicate that advancing age, lower household income, and gender (woman) enlarge this gap—primarily by undermining perceived benefits—whereas tertiary education and residence in certain western or southern European countries—notably, Germany and Italy—are associated with more balanced appraisals. This study concludes that layered governance, interoperable detection standards, and targeted literacy programmes are urgently required.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 5","pages":"Article 100782"},"PeriodicalIF":15.5,"publicationDate":"2025-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144888655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study also examines the mediating role of innovation in the relationship between these knowledge management processes and organizational performance. Although the literature recognizes the importance of knowledge management, analyses have not considered the role of each of these knowledge management processes in addition to their collective impact on performance. This study addresses this research gap by empirically examining the relationships among these variables using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Questionnaire data were collected from 528 professionals across Romania. SPSS was used to produce and analyze descriptive statistics, and SmartPLS was employed to conduct PLS-SEM. Knowledge creation and sharing significantly influenced innovation, whereas knowledge implementation did not. Innovation was observed to be a key link between knowledge management and organizational performance. These findings have substantial implications for both knowledge management theory and practice. Specifically, the findings underscore the need to emphasize knowledge creation and sharing to foster innovation and secure a competitive advantage. This study enriches the theoretical literature by validating an integrated model using PLS-SEM. It also provides actionable recommendations for managers seeking to improve organizational performance through innovation.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 5","pages":"Article 100793"},"PeriodicalIF":15.5,"publicationDate":"2025-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144888656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the relationship between innovation cooperation and the employment objectives of firms, such as job maintenance and creation. Using a sample of 5,397 firms from the PITEC database (2010-2016) and a binomial logit model with panel data, the findings indicate that innovation cooperation increases the likelihood that job maintenance and creation become core goals of technological innovation. Furthermore, the involvement of more actors raises the likelihood of establishing employment as one of the objectives of innovation. Such cooperation contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, innovation, and infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals), while also positively impacting employment, in line with SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth). The effect varies by partner type: partners from industry mainly support job maintenance and creation, while universities often focus on creating qualified jobs.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 5","pages":"Article 100786"},"PeriodicalIF":15.5,"publicationDate":"2025-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144888653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, it investigates the relationships among self-stigma, resilience, self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial motivation, and how these factors interact under conditions of systemic exclusion. Drawing on survey data, this study employs binary structural equation modeling using Mplus. The results reveal that entrepreneurial self-efficacy negatively affects entrepreneurial motivation in this context, contrary to dominant theoretical assumptions. Notably, entrepreneurial self-efficacy has no significant effect on entrepreneurial behavior among individuals with disabilities, while entrepreneurial motivation serves as a key driver. Resilience, while undermining self-efficacy, significantly enhances motivation, and self-stigma exerts an indirect positive influence on entrepreneurial motivation. These findings indicate that the psychological mechanisms assumed to be universal in mainstream entrepreneurship theories might not apply in the same way to individuals with disabilities. Under conditions of structural inequality and social exclusion, psychological traits operate differently—and sometimes paradoxically—shaping entrepreneurial behavior in ways that diverge from conventional models. The findings suggest that disability entrepreneurship is not merely an extension of existing theories but a distinct domain requiring alternative analytical frameworks and theoretical reorientation.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 5","pages":"Article 100794"},"PeriodicalIF":15.5,"publicationDate":"2025-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144888654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study develops a multi-scale analytical model that integrates the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) with the enormous regional model (TERM), enhanced by sectoral decomposition techniques, to enable a detailed assessment of how free trade agreements (FTAs) influence spatial and industrial reconfigurations. Using China’s paper industry as a case study, we systematically examine how the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) reshapes domestic and global value chain dynamics. The analysis reveals three key structural changes: (1) upstream sectors exhibit material substitution, with increased imports of wood and non-wood pulp while domestic waste pulp production grows, signaling a strategic reallocation of resources; (2) midstream sectors, particularly in corrugated board and paperboard production, demonstrate geographic shifts, and coastal clusters are relocating capacity to RCEP partner countries, while inland areas see capacity growth driven by regional policy incentives; and (3) downstream industries benefit from upstream agglomeration effects, leading to a 5 % to 30 % increase in paper product output in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces. Quantitatively, the RCEP generates synergistic gains through international specialization and domestic clustering, contributing to a 0.33 % annualized compound growth rate in sectoral output. These findings empirically support the effectiveness of industrial transition strategies, suggesting three policy recommendations: (1) establishing strategic reserves for critical raw materials; (2) developing differentiated regional industrial roadmaps; and (3) leveraging agglomeration economies to optimize domestic production networks. Methodologically, this study advances computable general equilibrium (CGE) models in assessing the impacts of FTAs on industrial restructuring, offering actionable insights for globally dependent industries undergoing strategic transitions.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 5","pages":"Article 100773"},"PeriodicalIF":15.5,"publicationDate":"2025-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144864522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study develops a multidimensional theoretical framework by integrating five foundational management and organizational theories to explore how organizations adopt digital transformation from a knowledge-driven perspective. The concept of Perceived Digitalization Impact (PDI) is introduced to capture how organizations evaluate the strategic and knowledge value of digitalization. Based on 202 survey responses and tested through structural equation modeling, the results show that supply chain management objectives, operational difficulties, and decision-making levels significantly shape PDI, which strongly influences the adoption of additional digital tools. The findings contribute to innovation and knowledge literature by shifting the analysis of adoption behavior from individuals to organizations and offering practical guidance for aligning digital initiatives with internal priorities and resource availability. Contrary to the proposition that all fairness factors must be high, the findings reveal that perceived fairness can be achieved when any two of the three antecedents are present at high levels. Specifically, three effective combinations emerge: (1) high outcome fairness with high anonymity and low explanation, (2) high outcome fairness with low anonymity and high explanation, and (3) low outcome fairness with high anonymity and high explanation. These results underscore the compensatory nature of fairness perceptions and offer practical implications for educators and administrators designing peer assessment systems. This study focused on the use of ChatGPT by undergraduate management students. We developed a model called the “AI Student Satisfaction with Studies model” (AI 3S-model) to investigate how generative AI, specifically ChatGPT, affects student satisfaction with their management studies. Factors used in the model included AI-related student expectations, AI-related student job expectations, perceived quality of AI among students, and AI-related overall student satisfaction. An online questionnaire was administered to students from economics faculties at various universities in the Czech Republic. We deliberately focused on one specialized economics college and several large economics faculties. The sample comprised 231 respondents. To analyze the data, we applied covariance-based structural equation modelling using maximum likelihood estimation. Our findings indicate that two factors directly and positively affect overall student satisfaction with AI use: their perceived quality of studies and their expectations. Additionally, perceived quality acts as a significant mediator between student expectations and overall satisfaction, as well as between job expectations and overall satisfaction. Students believe that ChatGPT enhances their quality of education, which boosts their overall satisfaction. For management education programs, this means that finding ways to effectively integrate generative AI into students’ learning and establishing reasonable limits is highly beneficial, whereas prohibiting the use of generative AI tools would likely decrease student satisfaction and diminish the perceived quality of their studies.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 5","pages":"Article 100781"},"PeriodicalIF":15.5,"publicationDate":"2025-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144841658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
