Design/methodology/approach – A survey was carried out with 244 employees of a company located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The company covers publishers, elementary school and high school levels, and preparative courses for Vestibular (university entrance exam) and Concursos Publicos (exams to be admitted to the civil service), and they are acting in the education sector since 2001. Findings – The main results reveal that the work related values and work satisfaction positively influence the OCB, and the main values with higher influence on OCB are Conformity, Universalism, Benevolence, and the Satisfaction with the boss, which are the independent variables with higher influence. The only value researched that has no influence on the OCB was Power. Originality/value – The results will enable a reflection on the reasons that make these individuals work, their satisfaction with the work done and its influence on the organizational citizenship behaviors. Additionally, they may provide subsidies for the education sector, to assess the prospect of their professionals regarding their concerns, interactions and behaviors in the workplace.","PeriodicalId":45001,"journal":{"name":"Rbgn-Revista Brasileira De Gestao De Negocios","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2017-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.7819/RBGN.V19I64.2899","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71252003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we assess the role of sustainable and social values as precursors of social innovation orientation, while taking into account interests as to financial returns. Second, we examine the role of social innovation orientation as an antecedent of a social entrepreneurship attitude. Third, we examine how attitude, subjective norms and entrepreneurship self-efficacy influence intentions of beginning a social entrepreneurship venture among Mexico residents. Design/methodology/approach – We conducted 745 surveys among low-income Mexico residents who expressed interest in initiating a social entrepreneurship venture. We used structural equation modeling to test the hypothesized model. Findings – Results showed the positive influence of social values on social innovation orientation, while taking into account the influence of financial interests. Social innovation orientation, an attitude toward social entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial self-efficacy and subjective norms were identified as positive predictors of social entrepreneurial intentions. Originality/value – The paper provides useful information about the importance of values to understanding social innovation orientation and social entrepreneurship intentions.","PeriodicalId":45001,"journal":{"name":"Rbgn-Revista Brasileira De Gestao De Negocios","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2017-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.7819/RBGN.V19I64.3129","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71252151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach – We carried out two association statistical analyses between the proxies of competitiveness and the variables that indicated of internal social responsibility: the Jonckheere- Terpstra test and regression analysis with Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) modeling. The sample is made up of 21 banks listed in BM&FBovespa over the 2010-2014 period. Findings – The survey shows that corporate social responsibility practices geared towards employees impact the financial performance of banks. Employees’ salaries positively affected financial performance, and the latter was negatively affected by the rate of outsourcing, both explained by greater employee productivity. Employee turnover and female participation in management and governance bodies are directly related to competitiveness indicators, in a negative and positive way, respectively, with no regard to employee productivity. Originality/value – Banks that offer better CSR practices to their employees present greater financial gains and increased employee productivity. There are specific items that have the potential to lead to a competitive status, adding value to businesses and employees. This research argues that managers should identify the CSR practices that add value to their companies and the benefits derived from value allocation to employees.","PeriodicalId":45001,"journal":{"name":"Rbgn-Revista Brasileira De Gestao De Negocios","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2017-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.7819/RBGN.V0I0.3199","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48878922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach – This research is exploratory, and makes use of descriptive statistical methodology. Data collection was based on an entrepreneurial perception survey applied to 545 tourism firms and 49 local business associations in two Brazilian cities. Findings – The main theoretical approach of this research was to introduce a partnering model, and its variables, based on coopetition – whereas its main empirical finding was to prove that the high internal competition among participants, within the tourism sector, is a greater source of coopetition behavior than external competition itself. Shared values, mutual trust, complementarity and awareness of the competitive advantages that result from partnering co-exist with the internal competition between firms belonging to this sector. Originality/value – Coopetition in the tourism sector has been little explored, but this study confirms that coopetition is a hybrid behavior which is very suitable to explain current market relationships; it also represents the interorganizational networks generated by business associations. The value of this research was to provide a scale to measure cooperative and competitive contexts on partnering based on the coopetition strategy, which can be applied to other industries or sectors.","PeriodicalId":45001,"journal":{"name":"Rbgn-Revista Brasileira De Gestao De Negocios","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2017-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71247243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach – The study is based on data collected from two federal public institutions in the cultural sector, hereby metaphorically named “Young Executive” and “Older Lady”. A structured questionnaire was developed and voluntarily answered by employees from both organizations. The measurement and structural models were evaluated through structural equations, applying Partial Least Squares (PLS). Findings – Data analysis indicates that alignment between individuals’ values and the values of organizations is related to employees’ organizational identification with the company. The results show that there is greater organizational identification among “Older Lady” employees, as a consequence of their greater alignment to it in comparison with “Young Executive” employees. The level of organizational identification influences employees’ organizational citizenship and intention to leave these organizations. Originality/value – The study contributes to understand organizational identification among Brazilian public company employees, presenting evidence that advance knowledge on the subject and subsidize the formulation of management policies in the sector.","PeriodicalId":45001,"journal":{"name":"Rbgn-Revista Brasileira De Gestao De Negocios","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2017-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47392508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology – The chosen research method was the case study. The data collection involved the participant observation of a company manager (2010-2015); the conduction of non-structured interviews to the company’s managers, directors and CFO (2013-2015); documental research to the company’s internal and public sources (2010-2015); and bibliographical research to scientific papers, business press, market analysts and specialized media (2010-2015). Results – The narratives of success found in the company’s reports portray the restructuring myth as a continuous strategy, through which the company reinforces its efforts in delivering good results to shareholders. And, despite the outcomes of the case study not supporting these narratives, its performative nature legitimize the company’s commitment to the SHV management ideology towards stakeholders of the capital market, even in face of the adoption of antishareholders’ postures, such as anti-takeovers measures, the merging of the CEO and Chairman positions, its CEO perks, etc. Contributions – Paradoxically, although the researched company operates under the cold logic of finances, and under pressure to create shareholder value, it revealed to be subject to the dynamics in which the search for symbolic legitimacy plays a decisive role in maintaining its position within the hierarchy of the socially constructed field of the Management in face of other stakeholders present in the field, reinvigorating the precepts of Bourdieu’s Field Theory and the Neo- Institutional Theory.","PeriodicalId":45001,"journal":{"name":"Rbgn-Revista Brasileira De Gestao De Negocios","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2017-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47603048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
