Se propuso orientar la motivación de las jugadoras hacia la tarea, aumentar su confianza y mejorar el afrontamiento de la competición. Como procedimiento principal, se trabajó indirectamente a través del entrenador aplicando el modelo comunicativo “La cadena de la conciencia” (Vives, 2011), que busca potenciar el aprendizaje consciente de los deportistas para influir positivamente en la orientación motivacional y la confianza. No se pudieron evaluar los efectos psicológicos derivados de la intervención, pero los resultados deportivos exitosos validaron ABSTRACT: A professional experience in a women’s field hockey team of the Spanish top division, in crisis due to its bad results, is reported. The aim of intervention was to focus players’ motivation on the task, to increase their confidence, and to improve coping skills in competition. As the main procedure, we worked indirectly through the coach applying the communication model “The chain of consciousness” (Vives, 2011), intended to enhance the conscious learning of athletes to positively influence the motivational orientation and confidence. The psychological effects derived from the intervention could not be assessed, but the successful sports results validated at the applied level the goals and the methodology specifically devised for this case. Future studies should address the applicability of the model and experimentally test the relationship between the communicative indications proposed for coaches and the effects on the motivational orientation and confidence of the athletes.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"48 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76249905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this single case study (N = 1), the participant was a 23-year-old male who played soccer in a team competing in the second provincial amateur category of the Andalusian Soccer Federation. Training was divided into three phases related to the level of activation and performance, (1) self-knowledge: the participant had to learn to know his own activation level. In this phase, he performed different physical exercises and was then asked about his heart rate (HR) and subsequently given feedback on it; (2) definition of the activation level: the objective was to try and find out with which HR he achieved the best performance when following an ad hoc circuit (optimal activation level); (3) self-regulation: during this phase, the subject was trained to self-regulate his own HR so that he could reach his optimal activation level and thus achieve good performance. The results suggest that the player learned self-knowledge and self-regulation of his optimal activation level through application of feedback and use of the heart rate monitor. The best performance occurred when the pulse rate ranged from 161 to 166 bpm. It is concluded that psychological training in self-regulation of the optimal level of physiological activation contributes to improve performance, as has been shown in this work.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78167768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main study objectives were to analyse whether football referees suffer harassment and if sex differences exist. The sample consisted of 183 referees from Andalusia, 94 women and 89 men. The Generalized Workplace Harassment Questionnaire (GWHQ) was used to assess workplace harassment behaviours. The results showed that most subjects had experienced workplace harassment at least once. Sex differences were seen in verbal hostility, covert hostility, manipulation, and physical hostility items. Men achieved the highest scores. Finally, age was significantly correlated with covert hostility, manipulation, and physical hostility so that the older the age, the higher the score in these factors. On the other hand, years of experience in the current category were shown to be significantly related with covert hostility and manipulation factors. In conclusion, it may be stated that men, as compared to women, recognize greater workplace harassment in the form of manipulation and physical hostility. In all other factors (verbal hostility, covert hostility, covert sexual harassment), although the sample indicates that harassment exists, as suggested by the mean score recorded, no sex differences were detected.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88091192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Effectiveness was assessed at baseline and at the end of the programme using the Psychological Characteristics related to Sports Performance (CPRD) questionnaire. There were statistically significant differences in the results found after the intervention, with players improving in the CPRD factors “Influence of Performance Evaluation”, “Mental Ability”, and “Stress Control”. In conclusion, this paper provides evidence of the effectiveness of psychological interventions in grassroots football, as the results show.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87442633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The athlete demanded the intervention to improve his mental strength and be able to be in the starting eleven of the team, because after 2 months of season he was a substitute and felt “psychologically weak” to face it. The player was evaluated using the CPRD questionnaire, self-reports, and viewing matches. The intervention was conducted through video conferences, instant messages, and emails. Cognitive behavioural techniques such as relaxation, self-instruction, empowerment approach, and goal setting were mainly used. The results showed an improvement in the assessed psychological skills of the football player, who also played in the starting lineup. It is concluded that online psychological intervention is effective to improve psychological skills and sports performance throughout the season, and sport psychologists have to learn how to make use of it and integrate it into their professional practice.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90956956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the consultancy field, and in order to integrate scientific evidence into its applied practice, this group developed a five-step model to structure the response to demands from different sport organisations. These five steps include: (1) Literature update, which allows us to know the most recent advances of our discipline in the field from which the demand comes; (2) Needs analysis, where the specific demands of relevant informers are selected and assessed; (3) Intervention, encompassing the integration of scientific evidence and the perceived need in order to propose the best operational approach; (4) Assessment, which serves to verify the impact of the selected; and (5) Monitoring, to check the durability over time of changes derived from the intervention. This model may serve as a guide for sport psychologists who want to take advantage of the most recent advances published in our discipline, thus making their applied practice more rigorous and innovative in order to offer the best service to their customers.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"106 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80985058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, scientific literature on its psychological characteristics remains scarce. This paper was intended to investigate the characteristics of sports dancing through interviews with competing couples. Twelve active dancers (M age = 30.75 years; SD = 8.75) forming 6 stable duos were interviewed. The semi-structured interview developed was based on previous research and included questions about communication, rules, cohesion, leadership, roles, and collective efficacy. The results show that the rules of the duos are few, flexible, evolutionary, and implicit. Both task and social roles are exercised with no performance difficulties. Communication is characterised by a high density and the continuous presence of feedback in interactions. Leadership is shared and focused on the needs of the components. Finally, the couples reported the difficulty to find and/or maintain a dance partner. The main study conclusion is that sports dance duos are subjected to a constant search for balance, which leads them to distribute task roles and thus share leadership and maximize communicative interaction.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82735685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
