The design concept of the proposed antenna is based on combining a wideband feeding structure with a frequency-reconfigurable radiating structure. A water resonator contained by an acrylic box is used as the frequency-reconfigurable radiating structure. Meanwhile, a fixed conical probe is used as the wideband feeding structure to excite TE211y and TE121x modes of the rectangular water resonator. The operating frequency of the antenna can be easily tuned by changing the height of the water resonator. A prototype antenna is fabricated and measured results verify the proposed design concept. It is shown that the proposed antenna has a continuous tuning frequency range from 165 MHz to 700 MHz.","PeriodicalId":447985,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115114998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A magneto-dielectric material of high permittivity and high permeability has been used as a loading element on a standard quarter wavelength monopole antenna. In our design, the magneto-dielectric material is placed on the top and the bottom of the antenna to achieve reduction in the resonant frequency. It is shown that a monopole designed at a frequency of 1.12GHz can have its resonance frequency shifted to 0.89GHz. Most of the known magneto-dielectric materials tend to be lossy. The radiation efficiency of loaded antenna is better than 60% over the matched impedance bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":447985,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125887010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a low-cost alternative to the traditional electronic tuning which utilizes switches/varactors. A dipole array PRS is implemented on a stretchable polymer-based layer. Several gain measurement techniques exist including comparison gain and direct gain, which have their own advantages and disadvantages in terms of accuracy, cost and measurement time. In addition, three different near-field measurement methods including planar, cylindrical and spherical have been compared for antenna gain and directivity estimation.","PeriodicalId":447985,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123288761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This technique utilizes a lossy transmissionline model for nonuniform continuous-source LWAs, and it was shown that taking into account reflections along the line provides a significant accuracy improvement compared to the traditional formula. In this paper, further application on arbitrary pattern synthesis will be investigated with an example of optimization under a specific pattern mask for a Half-Mode Substrate-Integrated Waveguide LWA. The cost function and optimization setup are adapted accordingly. The obtained results further demonstrate the applicability and flexibility of the method in the optimization of this type of antennas.","PeriodicalId":447985,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131393160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, the RAS method exploits a uniformly distributed random infinitesimal electric/magnetic dipoles as the expansion function, where their unknown amplitudes are used to directly satisfy the boundary conditions. Typically, the flexibility of the formulation and implementation of the developed RAS method enables an easy adaptation for arbitrary boundary conditions. The results of the proposed implementation are compared to analytical expressions for canonical geometries as well as the full-wave analysis of HFSS of several cases.","PeriodicalId":447985,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130547432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
