The gradient search method is generally adopt in the filter algorithm based on higher order statistics, but it is difficult to avoid local convergence and large complexity in the gradient search process. Blind source separation method based on maximum entropy is not suitable for using correlation kurtosis to blind extraction signal. Therefore, a maximum four order correlated kurtosis deconvolution( M4CKD) algorithm is presented on the basis of the kurtosis variation of mixed signals and the corresponding inverse filter is designed. Moreover, the convergence of the algorithm are analyzed. The results shown that the super Gauss and Gauss noise of mixed signal can be effectively suppressed, and this algorithm has faster convergence speed and higher signal-to-noise ratio which compared with FastICA algorithm.","PeriodicalId":446936,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Modelling Symposium (EMS)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115000892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed energy scheduling method optimizes the operation of several elements such as battery storage, shiftable loads, and adjustable loads. The aim of the scheduling problem is to minimize the overall operating cost for the day ahead. The cost minimization is realized by shifting the load requirements to optimal time periods and controlling the charging/discharging of battery storage systems during optimal time periods. The scheduling problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming. Computer simulations are performed on a typical distribution system. The results show that the proposed day-ahead scheduling scheme can significantly reduce the overall system operating costs via demand side management under the smart grid paradigm.","PeriodicalId":446936,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Modelling Symposium (EMS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124846263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the case of Biomedical information extraction like bone fracture detection, edge plays a vital role. An edge has been detected using different techniques and methods. Among the different techniques, Canny's method has been used since its proposal by J. Canny [1]. Canny methods contain's different steps towards the detection of the edges. Among the stages, the hysteresis linking method is complex as it needs neighbourhood data information. Retrieve this neighbourhood information increases the complexity of the algorithm. To overcome this complexity, we have introduced Fuzzy logic instead of the hysteresis Linking method for edge detection. In this paper, we have combined the Fuzzy edge-detection concept and Canny's method and analyse the performances.","PeriodicalId":446936,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Modelling Symposium (EMS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127287005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering the clamping model in simulation can improve the prediction accuracy of the distortion and residual stress. In this paper, a three-dimensional finite element model with corner clamping is established, and the weld-bead profile and heat source model is verified with experimental result. Using the Simufact.welding finite element analysis software, total distortion, effective residual stress distribution as well as the stress components are investigated. It has been observed that the maximum effective stress distributes in the region near clamping from beginning to end. The effective stress of the middle point along the transversal side is the side minimum stress, while there is a stress peak in the longitudinal side middle point owing to the distortion reduction during cooling time. The clamping form has a significant relationship with total distortion and residual stress distribution. According to the stress components analysis, the transversal stress is much higher than longitudinal stress, and plays a dominant role in the residual stress.","PeriodicalId":446936,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Modelling Symposium (EMS)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126816156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, LEDs are not lossless; power loss generates heat in the semiconductor junctions as well as in the light conversion material. High temperature significantly impairs the luminescent material and results in degeneration of the luminescent encapsulation material whereby its transparency is reduced. Avoiding high temperatures of an LED extends the live span and guarantees light quality. Therefore, temperatures of the p-n junction has to be measured and controlled by the LED driver. One considered constraint for implementing a temperature controller in the LED driver is the use of a hardware description language for the digital part to limit design complexity. Common temperature estimation methods are either mathematical to complex to be implemented into the LED driver or not accurate enough to protect p-n junctions against high temperatures. This paper describes a less complex mathematical approach to determine the p-n junction temperature based on the forward-voltage method. The related calculations are of moderate complexity allowing integration into a small size custom IC.","PeriodicalId":446936,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Modelling Symposium (EMS)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127612507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hidden Markov model classifier is applied on Arabic phonemes. For the purpose of this work, a new classical Arabic speech corpus is created. The corpus is based on selected recordings of recitations of The Holy Quran. A number of acoustic features are analyzed and compared. Those are: linear predictive coding (LPC) analysis, mel Frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC), perceptual linear prediction (PLP), logarithmic mel-filter bank coefficients (FBANK), mel-filter bank coefficients (MELSPEC), and linear prediction reflection coefficients (LPREFC). The confused phonemes and the lowest occurrence rates in many Arabic speech corpora phonemes are investigated. The system obtained maximum accuracies of 85.38% for FBANK feature and 83.37% for MELSPEC feature. The system output results showed that the MFCC and PLP accuracy are too close in accuracy. This situation could cause lags in response time of the algorithm, and may pose an important disadvantage in real time applications. To overcome this problem, artificial neural network (ANN) could be used. The training stage of an ANN needs significant time and sources but after training, the estimation by using ANN is very fast. In this study, an ANN approach has been proposed for direction of arrival estimation in uniform linear array antenna. In training, the whole pseudo spectrum is scanned by 10 degree steps. In the simulation process, it is accepted that a uniform linear array consists of 5 isotropic antenna elements and there are 1 to 4 arrival signals. Tests of the trained ANN have been done for various directions of arrival angles, and satisfactory results have been obtained.","PeriodicalId":446936,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Modelling Symposium (EMS)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133189470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Video processing systems are becoming more complex thus decreasing the productivity of the hardware designers and the software programmers, producing design productivity gap. To fill this productivity gap, hardware and software fields are bridged through High Level Synthesis (HLS), thus improving the productivity of the hardware designers. Our model extends previous mixed integer programs for bin packing, accounting for many of the issues arising in the steel manufacturing industry. In particular the proposed method can satisfy customer requirements on product quality. The developed algorithm can also deal with parameters variability occurring after the rolling processes. The final problem is formulated as a mixed integer non linear program (MINLP). This model directly applies to steel cutting, but it can be easily adapted in all of its parts, or just some of them, to other (industrial) rectangular cutting problems on different surfaces.","PeriodicalId":446936,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Modelling Symposium (EMS)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116303791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
