In this method, using high control gain to overcome uncertainties lead to occur chattering phenomena in control law which can excite unmodeled dynamics and maybe harm the plant. Different approaches, such as intelligent methods, are used to abate these drawbacks. In order to enhancement the sliding mode controller performance, we have used fuzzy logic. For this purpose, we have used a PID outer loop in the control law then the gains of the sliding term and PID term are tuned on-line by a fuzzy system, so the chattering is avoided and response of the system is improved against external load here. Presented simulation results confirm the above claims and demonstrate the performance improvement in this case.","PeriodicalId":446455,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127578361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents reflective steps taken in a 32-hour English composition course to 75 second-year Translation Major students at a university in China in the first semester of 2020/2021. It describes how the course content, which followed the initial proposals of the coursebook assigned by the university and the national exams (TEM and CET), was shaped through students’ own writing assignments. The use of a corpus linguistic tool enabled a more global diagnosis of specific elements that are culturally bound, idioms, discourse markers and collocates, among others, which all group of students was employing. These features became the source of material to be worked with in the classes through a variety of resources and strategies.","PeriodicalId":446455,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129810229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, because of the inherent non-controllability of agents across different management domains, this approach has been confronted with the challenge of so-called “trust” crisis that the success and benefit of cooperation cannot be ensured. This crisis has worried the research of autonomic computing and multi-agent systems for a long time. In order to conquer the crisis, this paper proposes a model for Trusted and Autonomic Service Cooperation, called TASC, which can eliminate the dilemma that the requirements of “Autonomy” and “Trust” conflict with each other. This model depends on three technologies to make service cooperation both trusted and autonomic: virtual society assistant management for providing cooperation assistance and maintaining cooperation order, contract templates for quickly creating e-contracts between agents, and norm-conforming policy-driven self-management for making agents conform rationally to the relevant regulations. It is the close coupling of those technologies that supports effectively both the resolution of “trust” crisis and the realization of autonomic service cooperation.","PeriodicalId":446455,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"123 11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121603837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most people faced digital discrepancies due to a lack of funding and physical access to resources. Underserved and underrepresented populations are not provided with equal opportunities for healthcare, education, social enrichment, and employment due to digital divides. Researcher van Deursen and van Dijk (found that even though some of these communities are provided with broadband connectivity, access is restricted, and connections are unreliable. Even academic institutions, public libraries, and other public entities are not left out of the digital split. Older adults still lag behind younger generations but mostly due to their preferability and academic and financial stance. It will take a collective effort to bridge the digital gaps, as potential solutions are addressed. Also, for theoretical support, van Dijk resources and appropriation theory (RAT) is applied to aid in understanding the digital divide phenomenon. However, researchers have mainly directed their attention to general education students and seemingly ignored higher education undergraduates. This study aims to examine this relationship under other dimensions of EAP such as the breadth and the intensity on university students of a Vietnamese educational institution. An explanatory sequential mixed methods design was utilized with two data collection instruments: a survey questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The quantitative data in the first phase revealed no statistical significance between EAP and students’ academic performance (e.g., time on homework, lateness for school, skipping classes, and missing sessions) while the qualitative information in the second phase uncovered a very small effect size of EAP on those outcomes.","PeriodicalId":446455,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121894761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to assess learning styles in online delivery of classes among junior high school students of First City Providential College, specifically in three identified subjects namely, Science, Mathematics and English, and to determine if their achievements in these subjects are associated to their learning styles. Three sets of students, one for each subject, comprised the sample of the study. A pretest was first conducted to assess the knowledge of the students, then online classes and assessments were conducted. A post-test was administered at the end of the study to determine the achievement of the students. Lastly, logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the factors that are associated to achievements in the three subjects. The factors considered were age, gender, growth mindset, mastery, and learning style. Data showed that Science and Mathematics students are mostly auditory learners, while English students are visual learners. In terms of performance, the achievement in Science is significantly higher among visual learners, while the achievement in English is significantly higher among auditory learners. In the logistic regression analysis, it was found out that learning style is positively correlated with student achievement. This suggests that science teachers need to review their online teaching methodologies to better cater to the needs of auditory and kinesthetic/tactile learners, and likewise, English teachers need to re-assess their online strategies for the visual and kinesthetic/tactile learners. In Mathematics, visual and auditory students achieved significantly higher than kinesthetic/tactile students, hinting teachers to pay attention on kinesthetic/tactile learners. In particular, results showed that students can double their chances of obtaining higher scores in the three subjects if their learning styles are adequately addressed in the online learning environment.","PeriodicalId":446455,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126588092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the Philippines value education almost more than anything, a multiple number of ways are being considered and utilized for the enhancement of the education system. National University as a contributing institution for educating Filipinos continue to explore innovative practices to provide its students an education that works. In this pursuit, a supplementary mode of learning, a branch of e-learning or computer aided instruction, Edugames is being considered. The possibility of using gamification in education within National University teaching methods would be keeping up to date with the global uptake on Edugames. Using an observational and imperative research, the study explores four key factors. Faculty adeptness, student willingness, technological operability and administration support. With the current resources, experience and practices, does National University's faculty have the inclination of using gamified learning and does NU have the means to facilitate such teaching methods? An attempt to elaborate a response is presented.","PeriodicalId":446455,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121841853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lecturers and students had to stay home but targets still had to be met and grants secured. The problem for the Central University of Technology, Free State was that being a traditional face-to-face university employing a blended learning approach, many of its lecturers were unprepared to move their delivery online in such a short time. This paper documents the observation of a learning designer during the time of lockdown, between the beginning of April 2020 to end of March 2021. The paper takes an autoethnographic approach, retrospectively and selectively documenting the observations of the author. Five interventions were introduced to prepare lecturers for online delivery including an online asynchronous self-paced course, online synchronous short courses, face-to-face demonstrations using video conferencing software, a WhatsApp group, and short video tutorials. The observations showed that the WhatsApp group and video tutorials uploaded to YouTube provided the best support for lecturers as they created a sense of community, provided demonstrations, and were micro-lessons.","PeriodicalId":446455,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125140250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
